yes the government need to do something about it. Even the polytechnic fees is not easy to afford. Some pay almost GH3,0000 excluding the hostel and other utilities charges.

"According to him, “essential courses” such as engineering, medicine, pharmacy, optometry, law, dentistry and others have now become very expensive courses which most Ghanaians, especially those with poor economic backgrounds cannot afford".
Yes, I have always sounded the alarm that Ghana is gradually creating a class, where children from rich families will always receive the best education and pursue the best courses at univ. The way our leaders are handling the education system has created this unfortunate situation. It's only in Ghana where State univ. authorities would admit more foreign students (mostly from Nigeria) to do Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, etc, just because they can afford to pay in US$, and deny locals who passed very well but can't afford the fees.We are digging our own grave as a country!
Over here in a well-managed country in Southern Africa, the government encourages students, especialy girls to go for medicine, Science, Engineering, etc. Whether you're from rich or poor background once you qualify for univ. you dont pay even a pesewa for your education. The government takes care of everything, including your feeding, laundry and toiletries. I weep for my country Ghana. Where did we go wrong?

Rev,it is inevitable that pretty soon all those courses will be fee paying in Ghana. Sadly it will be to the disadvantage of needy and brilliant students. There must be a way to have those student needs addressed.
