There is no doubt that one could hardly have an original Bible which was revealed by God. But if this author will be very open minded to study the Quran very well, he will see the real contradiction inside the Bible as against the authenticity of the Quran...although similar attempts were made to manipulate the Quran, but without any success, and they will never succeed, because God has said in the book: "verily! We(God) revealed the Quran and we will protect it(from manipulation)".

The four oldest manuscripts of the quran available all contradict one another and the modern quran used in mosques accross the globe. According to the custodians of the manuscripts in a museum in Turkey, the one in their possession have about 2500 errors and contradictions to the modern quran.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I can't imagine the enamous the contradictions would have been, if Uthman, after standardizing the quran, did not order the burning of the original manuscripts.
Shame on Muslims for burning the originals of their own scriptures.

Let me use this opportunity to educate u about the Qur'an in brief. Anyone reading the Qur’an can be certain beyond reasonable doubt that they are reading the same words revealed to Muhammad, peace be upon him, over one thousand four hundred years ago. "Verily! It is We Who have sent down the Qur’an and surely, We will guard it" (Surah al-Hijr 15:9). The reality of the fruition of this statement is a clear sign to mankind, and one of the manifest miracles of the Qur’an. Moreover this preservation is not limited to only the Qur’an, but also its explanation, the Sunnah, i.e. the actions, sayings and tacit approvals of the Prophet, peace be upon him,. These were meticulously memorised and written down by his wives and companions, and passed down until they were collected in the more famous books of hadeeth some two to three hundred years after the Hijra.

The Weight of Evidence
Allah laid down a challenge in the Qur’an to mankind in general and to the Arabs in particular: "And if you are in doubt concerning that which we have sent down to our slave (Muhammad) then produce a chapter like it, and call your supporters and helpers besides Allah, if you are truthful!" (Surah al-Baqarah 2:23) The Arabs in the time of Muhammad, peace be upon him, had no civilization to speak of - no magnificent roads or public buildings, nor scientific or medical institutions. In fact, they lived a most primitive and barbarous existence. There was one thing in which they excelled - that was their language. They were extremely found of poetry, and prided themselves in their poetic abilities. They praised each other, admonished - and even argued - in poetry. There was even an annual market in Uhaz just for poetry - the finest of which was hung on the door of the Ka’abah. The age of Muhammad was a time when the Arabs were at the peak of their linguistic abilities. Indeed, one of the finest poems ever written in Arabic was that of Labaid ibn Rabiyah, who’s poem, when recited at Uhaz, caused the Arabs to prostrate before him in admiration. When this same Labaid began to hear the verses of Qur’an, he embraced Islam, and gave up poetry altogether. When he was once asked to recite some poetry he said: "What! After the Qur’an?" Indeed, many of the Arabs entered into Islam just from hearing the Qur’an, because for them it was a conclusive proof of its Divine origin.

Today, there are thousands of Muslims who have memorized the Qur'an.An average Muslim can recite at least two chapters from memory. Are you suggesting that they burned the original Qur'an from people memory? certainly not. If God doesn't want something to be lost he makes it easy for people to contain it in their memory.

Qur'an 54:17 - We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention?

The reason why it is difficult to corrupt Qur'an is that it is right in memory. If anybody attempt changing any verse he will be exposed. But in the case of the Bible, no one is able to memorize it for generations. The original Hebrew bible is been hidden, so how does one confirm that the translators got everything right. In the case of Qur'an we study both original and translations. So if someone makes error in translation, we still have the original to refer and confirm. I challenge Christians to ask their leaders whereabouts of their original bible.

If I could blush, I would do so again and again for this author, who has the effrontery to call himself "sophisticated Christian" albeit indirectly, and also to claim to be the author of a book ( I leave that to him).
(1) If Coleman were honest, he would realise that none of the authors of the Gospels was an eye-witness, let alone a disciple. Biblical scholarship has known this for a long time now.
(2) Biblical scholars such as Ehrman have demonstrated that some of the alterations in the biblical texts are not trivial, as this author seems to think. (see: misquoting jesus and jesus interrupted, both by Ehrman).
(3) It matters not whether Socrates lived or not, or whether Homer´s accounts are reliable, since we are not being asked to organise our lives along these stories. What makes religious claims dangerous is their pernicious interference in the lives of people, with consequences that have been amply demonstrated in history.

In short, I am disappointed in this author, not because I expected anything less but because he prefaced this tedious article with a call for honest investigation, which he has so terribly failed to provide an example in his own writing!

The so called weakness and contradictions in the bible are it's strengths-evidence no attempt was made to Doctor or adulterate it.
The more critical questions should rather be if all text is meant to be taken literally or interpreted contextually and by who. And if every "educated person" has the competency to read and interpret it.

I guess this is in response to islamic propagandists. To such cheap propagandists destined for eternal destruction, let me point it to them that all four gospels were written and circulated at a time when all the disciples of Jesus were still alive and never countered them if they were fabrications.

In fact, the latest archeological evidence available on the gospels shows that St. Mathew's gospel(if my memory serves me right) was in circulation as early as 40 AD, ie. 7 years after the resurrection of Jesus.

The point also has to be made that the divinity of Jesus is also attested to in messianic prophesies in the Jewish scriptures(the old testament) which predate Christianity.

Again, whatever islamic propagandists want us to believe about the messiah, the point has to be made that the messiah of the Jews, as spoken about and believed by all the prophets of old, is not the same as the messiah of the quran(the title "messiah" is not even understood(is vague) in islamic theology). This so-called messiah of the quran is the most useless thing to have happened to Allah as not only did he not achieve the purpose for which he was given a messiah title and much spoken about by the prohets of old as claimed by the quran, but he also had his message, as we are told by muslims, corrupted the very moment he departed from this world.

In conclusion, the Jewish scriptures form the basis for any inter religious argument between Christians and Muslims, especially regarding the person of Jesus and his mission on earth, as that was what all the prophets who Muslims claim to believe in believed and preached.

Christian beliefs about Jesus does not contradict the teachings of the prophets, Islam does. Therefore Islam is a lie.

If Christians and Jews corrupted their scriptures as being claimed by Muslims, then Allah is a liar since he boasts in the quran that no human being or jinn can change his word.

ASSIGNMENT TO THE ISLAMIC PROPAGANDISTS

If Christians corrupted their scriptures,
1. Who corrupted them?
2. When were they corrupted?
3. How were they corrupted?
4. Why were they corrupted? ie. for what reason would any group of people get up and start corrupting their scriptures, did they stop believing?
5. If they stopped believing what interested did it serve them to corrupt the word of God?
6. Did every Christian become an apostate? If not how come the few faithfuls could not preserve the authentic scriptures they had with them?

come to think of this; your religion teaches that God is so unforgiving that He could not forgive man for the sin Adam and Eve committed, so He had to turn himself, after 5000 years later, into a human to be killed in order to be able to forgive mankind. Is this not utter false and nonsense? But Muhammad preached that God is most forgiving, Most-Merciful and He forgives those who sincerely stop their evil ways and return to him with sincere repentance, you don’t need blood to be forgiven. Compare this and what your church preaches (not the Bible) and see which one is false, nonsense and propaganda if your are really sensible. Be reasonable and wise.
I again want to use this opportunity to educate u about what the Qur’an says about Jesus Christ. If you read it with open heart and mind, u will be able to tell genuinely whether the Qur’an (and for that matter Islam) is false or it is of God sent to mankind through His last and final prophet and messenger. The Christian does not know that the true spirit of charity which the Muslim displays, always, towards Jesus and his mother Mary spring from the fountainhead of this faith - the Holy Quran. The Christian does not know that the Muslim does not take the holy name of Jesus in vain, in his own language, without saying Eesa, alaihi assalam ("Jesus, peace be upon him"), we revere Jesus perhaps more authentically than those who claim that he is God or those who claim that he is the son of God.
The Christian does not know that in the Quran Jesus is mentioned twenty five times. For example:
"We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear signs and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit" (The Holy Quran 2:87)
"O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary..." (3:45)
"...Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of God..." (4:171)
"...And in their footsteps we sent Jesus the son of Mary..." (5:46)
"And Zakariya and John, and Jesus and Elias (Elisha): all in the ranks of the righteous." (6:85)
Though Jesus is mentioned by name in twenty-five places in the Holy Quran, he is also addressed with respect as: Ibn Maryam, meaning "The son of Mary"; and as the Maseeh (in Hebrew it is the Messiah), which is translated as "Christ". He is also known as Abdullah, "The servant of Allah"; and as Rasul u Allah, the messenger of Allah.
He is spoken of as "The Word of God", as "The Spirit of God", as a "Sign of God", and numerous other epithets of honor spread over fifteen different chapters. The Quran honors this mighty messenger of God, and the Muslims have not fallen short over the past fourteen hundred years in doing the same. There is not a single disparaging remark in the entire Quran to which even the most jaundiced among the Christians can take exception.
The Holy Quran refers to Jesus as Eesa, and this name is used more times than any other title, because this was his "Christian" name. Actually, his proper name was Eesa (Arabic), or Esau (Hebrew); classical Yeheshua, which the Christian nations of the West Latinized as Jesus. Neither the "J" nor the second "s" in the name Jesus is to be found in the original tongue - they are not found in the Semitic languages.
The word is very simply "E S A U" a very common Jewish name, used more than sixty times in the very first booklet alone of the Bible, in the part called "Genesis". There was at least one "Jesus" sitting on the "bench" at the trial of Jesus before the Sanhedrin. Josephus the Jewish historian mentions some twenty five Jesus' in his "Book of Antiquities". The New Testament speaks of "Bar-Jesus" a magician and a sorcerer, a false prophet (Acts 13:6); and also "Jesus-Justus" a Christian missionary, a contemporary of Paul (Colossians 4:11). These are distinct from Jesus the son of Mary. Transforming "Esau" to (J)esu(s) - Jesus - makes it unique. This unique (?) name has gone out of currency among the Jews and the Christians from the 2nd century after Christ. Among the Jews, because it came to be a name of ill - repute, the name of one who blasphemed in Jewry; and among the Christians because it came to be the proper name of their God. The Muslim will not hesitate to name his son Eesa because it is an honored name, the name of a righteous servant of the Lord.
The birth of Jesus Christ is described in two places of the Quran - chapter 3 and chapter 19. Reading from the beginning of his birth, we come across the story of Mary, and the esteemed position which she occupies in the House of Islam, before the actual annunciation of the birth of Jesus is given:
"'Behold'! the angels said: 'O Mary! God hath chosen thee and purified thee, and chosen thee above the women of all nations" (3:42)
"Chosen thee above the women of all nations." Such an honor is not to be found given to Mary even in the Christian Bible! And if Muhammad wanted to be famous he would have given this honour to his mother. The verse continues:
"O Mary! Worship thy Lord devoutly: prostrate thyself, and bow down (in prayer) with those who bow down." (3:43)
What is the source of this beautiful and sublime recitation which, in its original Arabic, moves men to ecstasy and tears? verse 44 below explains:
"This is part of the tidings, of the things unseen, which We reveal unto thee (O Muhammad!) by inspiration: Thou wast not with them when they cast lots with arrows, as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary: nor wast thou with them when they disputed (the point)." (3:44)
On the birth of Mary, the story is that the maternal grandmother of Jesus, Hannah, had hitherto been barren. She poured out her heart to God: If only God will grant her a child, she would surely dedicate such a child for the service of God in the temple.
God granted her prayer and Mary was born. Hannah was disappointed. She was yearning for a son, but instead she delivered a daughter; and in no way is the female like the male, for what she had in mind. What was she to do? She had made a vow to God. She waited for Mary to be big enough to fend for herself.
When the time came, Hannah took her darling daughter to the temple, to hand over for temple services. Every priest wanted to be the god-father of this child. They cast lots with arrows for her - like the tossing of the coin-head or tail? eventually she fell to the lot of Zakariya, but not without a dispute.
This was the story. But where did Muhammed, salla Allah u alihi wa sallam, get this knowledge from? He was an Ummi, Arabic for "unlettered". He did not know how to read or write. He is made by God Almighty to answer this very question in the verse above, by saying that it was all by divine inspiration. "No!", says the controversialist. "This is Muhammed's own concoction. He copied his revelations from the Jews and Christians. He plagiarized it. He forged it." as u and others claim.
Knowing full-well, and believing as we do, that the whole Quran is the veritable Word of God, we will nevertheless agree, for the sake of argument, with the enemies of Muhammed, salla Allah u alihi wa sallam, for a moment, that he wrote it. We can now expect some cooperation from the unbelievers.

Bible is derived from a Greek word Biblo - Book. In Greece every book is Biblo as such the bible has no name.

I would like to mention some contradictions in the Bible. We all know that such contradictions cannot be attributed to God but humans. For example, [Math. 1:16] Joseph the carpenter is the son of Jacob. [Luke 3:23] Joseph the carpenter is the son of He'-li. The question is should we believe in Mathew or Luke because either one or both are wrong, both cannot be true.
Also in [1 Corin. 15:5] Jesus appeared to the twelve after he rose again. and in [Math. 28:16] Jesus appeared to the eleven after he rose again. The question is is it 11 or 12.
Again in [John 8:14] If I bear record of myself, yet my record is true.
[John 5:31] If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

Again in [John 9:29] God is with me: The father has not left me alone.
[Math 27:46] My God, my God, why have you forsaken me.

Further in [Luke 5:1] The story of the fishermen happened at the beginning of Jesus's mission.[John 21:1] The story of the fishermen happened after Jesus was resurrected from the dead. Which one is true?

Also in [Math. 21:18] Jesus purified the temple from the sellers before he passed by the fig tree which he cursed. [Mark 11:12] Jesus purified the temple from the sellers after he passed by the fig tree which he cursed. The question is, is it before or after?

Also in [2 Sam. 24:1] God provoked David against Israel, and said: Go and number them. [1 Chron. 21:1] Satan provoked David against Israel and ordered him to go and number Israel. The question is, who actually provoked David? Is it God or the Devil?

Last but not the least in [2 Sam. 10:18] David slew seven hundred chariots of the Syrians. [1 Chron. 19:18] David slew seven thousand chariots of the Syrians. Is it 700 or 7000? How can God inspire these contradiction to these people? For sure these contradictions cannot be from God (because He is not an author of confusion)
There are 1000s of contradictions in the Bible which are available to me, which would be made known to Muslims and Christians alike in my comment to his subsequent publications.

Most surely there is a party amongst those who distort the Book with their tongue that you may consider it to be (a part) of the Book, and they say, It is from Allah, while it is not from Allah, and they tell a lie against Allah whilst they know. It is not meet for a mortal that Allah should give him the Book and the wisdom and prophethood, then he should say to men: Be my servants rather than Allah's; but rather (he would say): Be worshipers of the Lord because of your teaching the Book and your reading (it yourselves).
