Dr Opoku-Adusei has said it right but where is the political room to make things work in the we are eagerly wishing and hoping to see our nation's development reach.
This way of greater achievements always calls for great sacrifice through which boldness will have its way leading to the achievement of the expected goals.
Politics in today's world has become more difficult for people in politics because politicians have failed to understand the meaning of politics. In the first place politics is morality, and ask yourself where is morality in our society?
Politicians beg the people with gifts to elect them and therefore when elected will surely bow to the minds of the electorates and can thus never be able to impliment things/policies which are in the great interest of Ghana in the future but may not be in the interest of the electorates presently.
This is where one's interest over shadows national issues for the fear that they the politicians will lose votes. Nkrumah by passed this mentality since he was not expecting any votes from anybody hence achieveing much in his 7 years development plan.
This is the nature of politics Ghana needs now but the task to reach there is difficult since our hearts have not understood it well neither our intelligence.
I recall the Ex Italian priminister or president adivising Africans to find a good political system that may be good for them. The whiteman's world is aware that they have disturbed our political minds with what they had pressurised us into, the so called democracy. Naturally it is a long way if we want to be out of this created mess by the whitemans world.

No Prof, there are plenty of visionary leaders in Ghana. The problem is the country was hijacked by Rawlings/PNDC/NDC for close to 35 yrs. Visionary people were silenced and sometimes under the threat of the gun. You know what happened with the intimidation, murders, brutality during those dark days. You snuff out any vision the people have. That is how you look at the problem. The revolution with promises of "probity and accountability" was nothing but hollow. You cannot produce any visionaries under those circumstances.People are able to project good vision when they are giving the freedom to think and do things. THe dark days of slogans, propaganda, brutality, and murders do not produce visionaries. Analyse that,Dr. Vision was killed in GHana.

I agree with Dr. Opoku-Adusei's assessment of the challenging forces that continues to send Ghana backward rather than forward ever. Since our first visionary leader the late Dr. Nkrumah, some of our past, present and prospective leaders in politics have failed to make critical analysis and observations of Nkrumah's vision of the past and the forward vision of the 21st century comparatively. We have been stuck and displaced in the maze of development and instead resulted in corruption and stealing frenzy. We have lost our trust in our leaders since 1966 as a result of successive coup de tat that shaped our present destiny of generational "Kalabule" politicians. These are the current trend of politicians shaping the generation of backward ideology without any hopeful vision. Development is not about modern huge buildings but rather the empowerment of its people that expands with education including teacher training resources and social development. It furthermore creates opportunities towards modern infrastructure, modern community planning. Ghana’s leader must have in-depth comparative understanding of our traditional values and cultures to approach his leadership and choice of cabinet ministers all geared and prepared to transform and transition Ghana for the next generational leaders. New leaders must leave a legacy of dedication, respect and fiscal discipline towards a regulatory society and nation.
