President Mahama has admitted that week systems in Ghana is one of our problems, and that also includes the appointement system of our political refrees-the EC.
In conclusion, the President’s power to appoint the Chairman and Members of the EC is merely a ministerial one. The substantive power of appointment is assigned to the Council of State. The President shall act on the advice of the Council of State means the President is barred from the nomination, vetting and selection process. Those who framed the Constitution were keenly aware of the impropriety inherent in allowing the President, a political player, to play a critical role in selecting the political referee. Nevertheless, out of deference for the office of the President, the framers allowed him, as the Chief Executive Officer, the honour of “appointing” the candidate selected by the Council of State. In this case, all the President is required to do is to issue the appointment letter under the Presidential seal but no more.
Mahmoud,by your over-stretched logic, 'in conclusion, the system that nurtured your infancy is weak; the system that brought you up is weak; your thinking system is weak'. Therefore you need serious capacity building and re-t ... read full comment

It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution

It is believed that the NDC GOV;T is trying to avoid the Ebola entry Ghana the Health Officers at various borders are taking advantage by just collecting 2 to 5 cedis from people crossing the boarder. I went to Togo last week. , when entry from Ghana the Ebola officials conduct the check by pointing a hand held machine at ones forehead but on the return to Ghana side of the boarder there were no such officials. The only officials at the post the Port health officials who were demanding 2 to 5 Ghana cedis from people who do not have cholera vaccination cards. Secondly the immigration Officers have been targeting some individual who dressed nicely by demanding moneys ranged 5 to 10 cedis if one does not have passport creating free movement of people across the sub region ( ECOWAS).The officers in -charge look at this ongoing situation without stopping such behavior because whatever money collected for the day is shared among themselves, the incharge collects the bigger share. My question is why is it the when entering Togo there is people conducting Ebola checks, but when entering Ghana there was no such checks except collecting money from the people crossing the border.

You lack any traces of critical thinking. What has NPP got to do with the honest opinion of a healthcare professional (a doctor)? America has an excellent healthcare infrastructure to deal with any Ebola outbreak. Can you say so for Ghana? Your government, after months of the outbreak in West Africa, has now started building isolation centers. Unbelievable but fools like you will twist a sane opinion into a political theater.

Everyone with a problem should be able to come up with at least one solution to the problem. No solution as an answer is not acceptable.
Countries train their doctors differently and award different degrees. It is high time we started conferring Doctor of Medicine degrees to MBChB students who have performed the necessary research projects as some countries do.
The current practice where newly inducted doctors called house officers with no experience whatsoever are left to experiment with (attend to) serious medical cases while residents, specialists and consultants are away must be put to a stop immediately. There must be at least one specialist present 24 hours in three shift rotations to supervise them. Our health system as it is presently is not the best. The situation in the countryside and rural communities is even worse.
Do not doubt the wisdom in these words.

I can remember hearing government saying they are going ahead to host any AFCON I decided to hear wat u wanted to hear. The minister said we have all it takes to host the game, however they are taking the public concern abt the Ebola epidemic into recognition to making a decision, does this sound like an emphatic yes, why do educated people in this country be fooled by all these half baked journalist
