One thing is clear.People have amassed immense wealth through fraudulent and criminal means as a result of loop holes deliberately created by managers of the scheme nonetheless the hierarchy of the NHIA.Service induce moral hazard in the NHIS is widespread and complex involving a criminal gang with people at the top direct beneficiaries.The reality is that dubious and criminal collaboration between Ghana Health Service and the NHIA is what is killing the scheme.Overcosting,inflated bills,dubious and illicit procurement,illegal charges and many other practices related fraudulent claims as a result of direct connivance between public institutions in particular is a major drawback.Private institutions as a result suffocate under cronyism, politics and bribery schemes encouraged by the NHIA.You cannot run a scheme on the basis of NPP/NDC or foe/friend basis.You cannot run a scheme based on whose bargaining power is strong and who carries a fatter envelope.Many who have sort to protect the insurance as part of their civil duties have stepped on huge toes with some losing their jobs.GOD SAVE GHANA AND THE POOR SICK BECAUSE THE SCHEME IS DOING NOTHING EXCEPT ENRICHING A GANG OF CRIMINALS.

Countries train their doctors differently and award different degrees. It is high time we started conferring Doctor of Medicine degrees to MBChB students who have performed the necessary research projects as some countries do.

The current practice where newly inducted doctors called house officers with no experience whatsoever are left to experiment with (attend to) serious medical cases while residents, specialists and consultants are away must be put to a stop immediately. There must be at least one specialist present 24 hours in three shift rotations to supervise them. Our health system as it is presently is not the best. The situation in the countryside and rural communities is even worse.

Do not doubt the wisdom in these words.
