Don't get carried away. It is the borrowing that has provided dollar liquidity to shore up the cedi. And by the way, you are an economist and you know very well that trajectory is unsustainable. Time will tell!

When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them

It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution

The proposals put forward by IEA for constitutional reforms are the best possible ways of strengthening our democracy. Anybody criticizing or unwilling to accept them must have some myopic and self-serving agendas that are not in the interest of Ghana and its development. Our week institutions can easily produce "constitutional dictatorship" difficult to get rid of.
Those who have genuine alternative ideas and views regarding the issues raised should come out clean and tell us what they have, and not hide behind to sabotage them. These proposals in our view would reduce partisan politics and also strengthen democracy and the rule of law in our country. On the other hand, if we dare reject them, we will continue to grope in darkness with disastrous consequences.

What if you still need this same resource to pay your statutory debts, then did you go or come? NDC, our electoral stupidity is our woes now. All of us Ghanaians.

When you have cocoase economists in charge, what you see is a classic case of Robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Because the NDC has been pounded for the drastic loss in value of the cedi especially against the U.S dollar, the incompetent leadership decided that the best way to shore up the cedi is to go the West to borrow 3 billion dollars so that by making borrowed dollars available to the banks to provide loans, will change the optics at the Forex.
Even a fish monger who never took economics understands that during the the fish season she will have to drop the price of herrings in order to sell.
Emmjsah Authur should be ashamed of himself for suggesting that borrowing from the West is a homegrown measure to strengthen the cedi.
Gas price is going up and building products are still expensive. So who benefits from the these recent measures is still the greedy businessman not the consumer.

If the Vice President is a proper Economist he would know that his so-called home grown methods would only shore the cedi in the near-term but the local currency would be more battered in the medium and long-term as borrowing at high interest rates to shore up currency is the most stupid idea.
Could $2.7 billion be used to fix a major import substitution program like producing our home-grown rice and chicken to eat?
Oh Ghana common sense is not even common among the educated and the ruling classes.
