Busia could have been a leader for any country in this world. This is not mine, this is what the world said about him when died.
The man was a fine leader, and had a complete program for all aspects of our development. Unfortunately, the communists Young Pioneers implanted by Nkrumah in our mist, did not allow Ghanians to benefit from his knowledge and the good work he had started for this country. They hijacked and impeded our development until the year 2000.
Even though Acheampong was one of them, and did their dirty work for them, they try on many occasions to disown him. He was killed by one of them to cover their "nyash".

The sycophant KB Ashanti is a disgrace. How can any reasonable human being in his right mind justify communist dictatorship and tyranny? Nkrumah did not have any excuse for doing what he did except that he was preparing the ground with a series of unprovoked actions to create a one party state in Ghana, and declare himself president for life.
Communist ideology doesn't have a place for opposition in the system. Have you ever heard of a communist democratic country in this world, with an opposition to check excesses of the government? Nkrumah chose communism as a means of keeping himself in power forever. He therefore imposed the Detention without Trial Act only to gag everybody, create a communist dictatorship and turn himself into a president for life. This is because, communists don't share power.

The mere fact that Rawlings still go about talking about democracy and the rule of law is an insult to the intelligence of all Ghanaians. Someone who hijacked and impeded our development for almost 20years with crimes, dictatorship and tyranny, the like of which Ghanaians may never see again, can claim to be a national hero talking nonsense any time he opens his month. He even formed an artificial party with state power and resources called NDC followed by sycophants and stomach politicians.
Even Nkrumah's Communist dictatorship was milder compared to that of Rawlings. But birds of the same feathers flock together because Rawlings also seized power claiming to be a communist, and unleashed a Cuban-style dictatorship on Ghanaians. Moreover, he was a Young Pioneer.

I do relish on the fact that Busia was not permitted to establish his ideas due to military coup.
Nkrumah had the vision to successfully developed Accra/Tema as the industrial center of Ghana.
Busia had the vision to industrialized municipal towns and regional capitals. This means people could traveled to near towns to work and return home in their own little towns. Developments could have been vast across Ghana. Accra/Tema would not have been this over populated as it is today. This was a supper ideology which was not allowed to developed. Sad.

In the USA, aliens pay taxes, there is no one party state, A president has a Vice P,and there is no Prez for life. Laws work here and nobody can be thrown into prison for no reason. Nkrumah made Accra Motorway and many more with money available. Was he not the one who started to bankrupt Ghana with his ambitious OAU projects? Jobs for Ghanaians were taken over by foreigners. Nkrumah was a dictator who was feared even by Gbedemah and other important party members. Nkrumah would have made Ghana like North Korea where all men are required to cut the hair like the Prez. All Nkrumah wanted was praise singing. When he was kicked out, Ghana was broke and he had Ghana's begging cup running around for loans. If I am wrong challenge me. He even compelled his people to call him a Dr when he really was not. He was as a dictator as Gaddafi, Mugabe and Yahyah Jamme. Challenge me if I am wrong

When I read about how visionary Nkrumah was,my first reaction has always been that if he was such a genius how come he could not discern that,at the time he was pursuing his consuming goal of uniting Africa,(a very laudable ambition)those he needed to be signatories to any unifying document were not interested in surrendering their respective nations' sovereignties into an African Union ,huh?
Nkrumah was not deterred though. He pushed hard for that Continental Union at variance with keeping a keen eye on allowing the private sector be the driver of our young nation's development. As per his Communist dictates he involved our nascent country in a rapid but haphazard development that had the government at the center of everything and in so doing blew massive resources at white elephant projects like "Job 600" et al.
A lot could have been achieved with what our colonial exploiters left us but for the reckless undertakings of our great Osagyefo,i.e pumping monies to "liberate some African countries, our development was hindered to a large extent.
Many Nkrumaist fail to acknowledge that at the time of the coup that overthrew him,our country was,for all practical purposes, bankrupt and all we have to show for was haphazard government developmental footprints doting Accra and a few places nationwide.
If our present day President would not claim to be a Socialist and act like one by his policies, but rather embrace free market capitalist policies as the Chinese are pursuing, many of our hapless poverty stricken citizenry would be lifted from their woes to economic freedom and prosperity.

Busia only knew greed. He had Afrifa commandeer thepresidency for him, while using bullying tactics to force the chief of his tome town relinquish the chieftancy in favor of Busia's brother. That is greed of the worst kind. He had no plans for Ghana other than himself and his party. Busia's Alien Compliance Order was simply intended to drive out foreign business owners on a short notice so that his party supporters could take over their businesses. This was realized, resulting in most of the PP supporters taking over the businesses, but not having a clue as to how to run those businesses. As an politician and president, Busia was a disaster.

Our Attitudes = What we see...
Why is Nkrumah' name gracing Circle. A hotbed for swindlers, prostitution and pickpockets? Shouldn't souljaman lafia kotoka' name be named after Circle instead? No wonder the morale etiquette of the country is at an alltime low.Risk your life, sacrifice and die for Ghana and you will be treated like nkrumah. is the underlying message here. A nation that adores and elevates rogues to esteemed roles is very dumb indeed!
The negative attitudes many Ghanaians embody today is a direct result of what we see around us.
Our attitudes are a direct result of what we see. When you have the founder of the nation' name(kwame nkrumah circle) gracing a mere roundabout like circle. Whiles the name of a constitutional traitor like kotoka' graces an international airport. Why is anyone surprised when we don't value integrity, hardwork and patriotism for our country, Ghana. It basically says backstabbing Ghana or your friend, neighbour and you will be rewarded like Kotoka! Is this an incentive that breeds unity? U may think it's funny but this is pure psychology at work!
FACT:
Danquah and Business were cia agents as revealed in cia declassified files.
J.B Danquah was on the payroll of the cia. Receiving monthly cash payments to delay and stall our independence. Busia was in Oxford recruiting coup plotters to execute, bomb, assassinate Nkrumah. Which eventually led to the overthrow in 66. Who thinks these 2 deserve to be recognized as founding fathers of Ghana? How many assassination attempts were made on JFK or Lincoln before they were shot? There were 7 assassination attempts made on Dr. Nkrumah. So before anyone says anything negative about Nkrumah. Look at the freedom you have in ghana, Africa for blacks before you spew foolishness. As a Blackman in North America, I can tell you for a fact. That we ain't free. Blacks, minorities especially poor blacks are not free at all.

Yes, Busia would have made Ghana a "fantastic" country indeed. His initial direction was to build and shore up the non existing foundations of the country and those included educating adults, raising the level of education, educating the public against tribalism and the spreading of false rumors and was stingy with the country's meager funds. Those were essential traits and direction the country needed and has never overcome and hence this our current state of lack of focus and direction.
It is only ironic that K4 is the one the champion to seeing the vision Busia had for the country. K4 sat on the most money Ghana has ever seen in its existence to date and the question is what did he accomplished as his legacy. The truth be told, it's nothing except he and his cronies raised the level of corruption and sod the seeds of greed, materialism and so on.

If Busia had policies, namely private sector agenda that would have been good for Ghana, what stopped Kuffour from implementing similar policy when he was in charge? I believe among other things, it was his aliens compliance order that led to his demise. This was a policy that sought to blame Ghana's problems on foreigners. The rational was that Ghanaians would engage in private enterprise once the Nigerians were kicked out of Ghana. What Busia failed to realize was that Ghanaians lacked the entrepreneurial zeal of the Nigerians.

They have nothing constructive to offer, their stomach is their benchmark after that the rest of Ghanaians can go to hell.
What reckless generation are these? They live their lives by scheming evil and becoming overlord in communities by siphoning from wherever by whatever means they can to keep up their ill gotten fame and bequeath these traits to their children’s children.
Fellow Ghanaians, be aware that “Difficulties” are part of life, so it is for a growing nation like ours. It takes sacrifices to build and not laziness and gluttony to consume and destroy what we have here and now. It is obvious that the gluttonous opposition NPP has nothing to clinch on for their campaign; so they think using “corruption” as a slogan will earn them some moral image.
The question is “Who is more corrupt in Ghana than these Dankwa / Busia folks?”
They were lazy and dull witted with UGCC and Nkrumah came to turn things around to obtain independence and republic for Ghana, an enviable position that has liberated the whole of Africa and other parts of the world. What did these reckless do if they think they have the people of Ghana at heart? The sickness of DANKWA/BUSIA people is that, they don’t believe in themselves; had it not been that they would not have gone for Nkrumah. When Nkrumah was making progress in freeing the country from colonial powers, the dumbness and slow thinkers of these Dankwa/ Busua’s cannot grasped the enormous knowledge and experience of Osagyefo.
When Nkrumah became successful with the struggle these DANKWA / BUSIA people became jealous and bitter and it is this feeling that has degenerated into your current circumstances which continue to trouble this great nation. All arguments from Dankwa -Busia camp aims to bring people down and they will do these no matter what, even if they have to kill they will kill.
They don’t learn nor create; evil dwells in their heart. Like Saul in the Bible, when he saw David’s successes, he became so jealous and plot many schemes to eliminate him. But Alas! You have brought untold curse unto your families and generation for that matter "SIN CLUTCHES AT YOUR DOORS" for taken the whole nation for ransom just for the hate of one man. The man died long ago yet you still fight him and have not defeated him.
Our independence struggle is over, we are Ghanaians lets not live by who gave birth to us but live by what we can use our God given energy to create and bring peace and justice to our fellow being. If the descendants of these Dankwa / Busia parties can see, appreciate and accommodate others views, we all can move this country forward. They need to desist from plagiarising what persist in some countries and learn to create from within (it is not just buying and selling) it is development of human capital.
They took bribe to overthrow Dr.Kwame Nkrumah
They sold our Atomic energy to the Americans.
They are so racist that, they caused the deportation of mass foreign experts and industrialist from the country when Busia took over.
They pulled down all and abandoned all viable economic projects all because Nkrumah started it. “Everything Nkrumah is bad” yet they could not chalked down anything better memorable that has transformed any life in Ghana
Busia took to the presidency with too much talking and did nothing; He initiated policies and executed none of them. Whilst Dankwa descendants are seriously siphoning from state coffers to enrich and entrenched their families and well wishers. Thank God the then military saw all these dishonesty, nepotism, neo-colonialism and indiscipline growing from these arrogant nation reckless and non entities who seeked power and don’t know what to do with it than selling what has been built
Education is nothing to them; for them to get to the top means how much money you can exhibit or show to the public but careless about how they make their monies, they are greedy and enjoy backbiting, destroying, killing and make shameless utterances, bullying, join occult and make use of cannabis; these days cocaine.
Too much Trivialmindedness has engulfed with these so called Dankwa/Busia descendants who have never in their lives said the truth nor demonstrated maturity. They always portray silliness, low self esteemed and endemic mental slavery. What is so worrying is that they don’t mind destroying others because they want power. Attacking and distracting leaders without sound alternative is not only sickening but also portrays immaturity and emptiness of these cohorts. They just want to do or say something to grab unnecessary attention. They have no solution???. if you test their opinion by deep analysis, you always end up by cheap and shallow political biases and unfounded allegations.
They are so narrow minded that they will always dwell on shallow empty propaganda than to think of constructive alternative that will prove their ability as thinkers than “political hip pops” challenging and making empty utterances when silence would have earn them some respect.
It is very unfortunate to have calibre of people who displays nothing than greediness gluttony and cranking attitude towards each other. Even within their party they find it difficult to unite, how would they be able to unite the whole nation? NPP is a truly a joke they have nothing to offer. By their deeds you shall know them.
Ghanaians should not be blinded by these tax looters who only seek their interest by lobbying through their agents who are scattered throughout the country. Their sole interest is to make every regime ungovernable by castigating lies, ugly insults, throwing bombs, killing women, burning markets, lengthy shallow litigations in courts and false alarm blowers. What can they boast of themselves and what have they achieved for Ghana?
They want Ghanaians to be sub-servants to them whilst in their own thinking and mental deliberations; they perpetually remain slaves to neo colonialism.
Have you so soon forgotten how Kuffour brought Gisele Yaazi to Ghana as “special economic advisor” accommodated her in La Palm hotel with seven armed body guards which he later impregnated her with twins?
Were there not economic titans in Ghana at the time Miss Yaazi came in? And what role did she play in making Ghana the heaven Kuffour wanted?
Have you so soon forgotten how Kuffour who has no money to renovate his current residence and it was a farmer friend who sponsored the renovation of the house? Two years down the lane, after twisted the arm of Miss Yaazi by Kuffour`s own promises to her with regard to “hotel wa-wa”, Till today his son can buy hotels bigger than his fathers house. Incredible!!! Where was his son when the father’s house was going down?
Have you also done diligence to who owns Accra mall?
Who now owns Merchant Bank?
What is the source of Addo Kuffour`s income? Who as of now marks the 5th richest person in Africa?
Kuffour travelled more than any President on earth yet what did he bring home?
Kuffour introduced more initiatives (PSI) than any president which one of them survived?
Kuffour`s ministerial appointments was higher than all presidents what were their achievements?
Kuffour`s time in office saw real brutality of innocent and vulnerable people but you offered no defence nor justice for them (Issah Mobilla and Yaa Naa)
Kuffour`s Turn saw over 200 people dying in a stadium which your appointee (Jake Mulato) squandered all donations both foreign and abroad.
“Kick Backs” was the term in your administration and your party chairman then confirms to that.
It is you who has made the presidency so cheap that people like Nkrabea Effah Darteh wants to be president.
Our country became the hub of Cocaine activities. The over spending of these “junkies” is what has lured every Ghanaian today to be rich at all cost.
I find it very sickening when NPP sees nothing wrong with this man who has tainted their party with so much evil and embarrassment in the history our dear nation to walk about unchecked. He is an apology

(2) Limit public sector role in production to PARTNERING the private sector to provide pure infrastructural development in areas like road construction, railway development, airways & air transportation, school infrastructural development, and a host of other expensive capital development tha requires the capital injection of government combined with the management and controlling expertise of the private sector.

What prevented this man from applying the policies of his bomb thrower BUSIA. Thank God Busia was removed immediately from power. He had collected two years salary in advance , with allowances , without any work done. The greedy sell out and lackey of the west would have sold Ghana to Britain and American businessness leaders , for personal gain. Busia was a fraud , imposter and very evil man. He proudly told the world he was behind all anti Nkrumah activities and bomb throwing against Dr Kwame Nkrumah. One wonders if Kufour has any modicum of good brains. The worst president , most corrupt and greedy is KUFOUR. He traveled out of Ghana more than 300 times , on no reason but for per diem. Each trip gave him more than a thousand American dollars as per diem , excluding food and accomodation and other expenses. He honoured himself with expensive gold chains and medals. The seat of government became a point of receiving bribes by this shameless man for whatever reason we can imagine. This was exposed by chairman of his NPP during his term in office. Never and ever should such simpleton be given any leadership role by sane people.

That was the time all foreigners has to go back with they came from, it was call kowukrom (Go back to your town), it was the time when ghanaians went back to their communities. The best time in ghana's life.
John Mahama and his NDC had it all wrong to let the EU, China, Japan and the IMF buy from Ghanaians.
Busia didnt go round begging countries and government to buy ghana, he made sure every community had the fair share of the national cake.
The time was when ghanaians could buy building made of cement. The foreigners houses and bussiness where sold to the communities. You can see most of the houses in town centres were for the foreigners who had to go. Its was the very foreigners who over him.
Mahama government is put ghana in a very shameful posite, NPP will have a very big problem with the foreigners because the fail ghanaians, well they want is money and nothing else. They dont care if ghanaians are suffering or not.
WHY should ghanaians be paying the same price for fuel as it is in the European Union. Ghana has oil yet buy it oil from world market.
Busia is a very big lost to Ghana.

How can Busia would've made Ghana a "fantastic" nation when the first thing he did as president was to pay himself 4 years term in advance, and paid to his accounts in the UK. Busia in my opinion just came to Ghana to loot the state chest and give priority to all his henchmen he left behind when he went on a self exile to the UK. Secondly his ALIENS COMPLIENCE ORDER was mainly to seize assets of foreigners (mainly from Nigeria) for their personal gain. Why did Acheampog seize power whilst he was out of the country? In the first instance to make it easier. Secondly, Acheampong was Busia's head of national security, and he seized power from his boss (Busia) to have a lions share of the looted wealth. Most of you were not born within that period to experience what happened, but let me tell you, the coup that ousted Nkrumah was out of sheer greed from the United Party (UP, inherited by the NPP.

I think Kufour's claim is as usially deceptive and smacks off sarcasm than any other thing...Busia? the man who asked the British 'why they're leaving Ghana so soon'? The man who could not even win popular elections in his own hometown. After Nkrumah's overthrow, his works was deliberately and systematically degraded and run down to allow private sector to run things. The private and their foreign collaborators sector have been running things in this country, what have they done for the people of Ghana apart from suffering they created for them?

The prof's shortcoming was the implementation of the Aliens Compliance Order which, according to a reliable source, led to the deportation of cocoa farm laborers, significantly reduced output and gave the first position in the production of cocoa to the Ivory Coast.Another consequence was the retaliation by Nigeria to deport Ghanaians.
Otherwise Dr. Busia would have entrenched democratic principles and capitalism in Ghana, and we would have
been prosperous with a better standard of living.
The socialism-inclined NDC and John Mahama cannot formulate magic wand policies to meaningfully uplift the private sector which is pertinent to speedy job creation and to bestow prosperity upon Ghana. We can deduce this from his words and deeds. The resurrection of Ghana Airways and the Asutware Sugar Factory are shining examples.
How do you obtain a new outcome if you continue to do the same old stuff? It is the opportunism-inspired SOEs and the quasi-governmental establishments which are the champions of apathy, bureaucracy, corruption, inefficiency and under performance.
It is time to wise up for socioeconomic development which will be of benefit to every Ghanaian regardless of political party affiliation.
Gear up and vote out SOCIALISM in 2016 for a prosperous Ghana!

Busia did not consider the Northern regions as part of Ghana. How many times did he visit the North and where did he stop when he went there? During Busia time, the North used to receive GBC news a day after the news cast in Accra and for the upper regions it used to be two days. The foundations that Nkrumah laid for the North were stopped by Busia. He rather focused on three regions ie. the Ashanti, Eastern and Brong Ahafo. Busia said during Colonial and Nkrumah time his people from the forest belt did not use to go abroad so he made sure that there was no visa issues/problems with Europe and America - this era saw forest belt people started traveling in masses to abroad.

How good is a government if it cannot sustain itself in power or if the people would not allow it to carry out its programmes through?

You set up a Venture Capital fund and gave allthe money to 3 Part faithfuls! Is that the best you could have done.
Kufuor, you are and were too selfish and too greedy! $3.6 million gold chains, ex-gratia in the millions with 2 houses, 6 vehicles, $1 million for your library, etc, etc. You have no shame!
Please shut up and retire and leave Ghanaian alone. You could have done a lot better to amend the constitution and allow towns, districts to elect their own chief executives. Instead you preferred the elected dictatorial system and enjoyed it. $603 million funds for water were never applied! Shame!

Busia may have a very good excuse for not leaving behind any lasting legacy because of the short period he rained. But is Mr. Kufuor the right person to try to throw dust into people's eyes by trumpeting those unfulfilled ideals of the late Prime minister? Why did Kufuor not use the lofty chance had to continue from where Dr. Busia left off? Instead, he used that chance to amass wealth for himself and his close friends and cronies. Kufuor will be long remembered for supervising the rape of government lands and properties for himself and his associates.

Any person who pleases outsiders more than his/her own cannot be described as a good leader.
On the issue of aliens compliance order, foreigners who were living in Ghana illegally were asked and giving notice and time to sort themselves out as it's done all over the world.
What was wrong for the leader of the country at the time to focus on that?
Not until most Ghanaians who know nothing but hate got rid of that canker and do things rationally, sorry to say but the country(Ghana)will continue to back slide.
I have never known in this world where any leader puts the interest of foreigners above his/her own citizens.
Those of you who mix the aliens compliance order with xenophobia are not being realistic and fair but i am forgetting, this is Ghana.People criticize for the sake of it and out of hatred.
No matter however bad one may feel about Busia,he and the rest who share the same ideology risked their life to make it possible for us to express our views freely without fear of prosecution and intimidation which wasn't the case with Nkrumah.
Dictatorship is evil and no leader with that instinct can claim to love his/her country and it's citizens.
Nkrumah may be good for some people but if Busia,Danquah,Dombo or the others who shared their ideas had ruled Ghana after independence,it would have been different and better than as it is now.Compare the few years the Busia Danquah,Dombo tradition had ruled Ghana to Nkrumah tradition of Achampong,Limanan,Rawlings,Mills and now Mahama and make a fair judgement.

In the light of his own remarkable record in office, President Kufuor allusion that Ghana would have been a much better nation today if his mentor, Kofi Busia, had been allowed to run his full tenure, is very persuasive. In his eight-year term, the longest time the Danquah-Busia group has ever had in government since partisan party election was introduced in the country in 1951, Mr Kufuor amply demonstrated that he wasn't one of those 'accident of histories'(sadly a major bane of post-independent Africa) and that he was not just a politician but that he had been well groomed and thoroughly apprenticed by Kofi Busia (the philosopher-king)for political leadership. Mr Kufuor's matchless temperament and tone, and especially the infrastructure that sprouted the country during NPP period of office between 2000 and 2008 speak to Busia's vision for Ghana. Busia's antagonist, Nkrumah, being a visionary himself and a showman had set the bar for the presidency very high (built Tema, factories, schools, hospitals, etc.) My deduction is that if Busia had not been toppled he could have either rivaled or outshined Nkrumah. It seemed to me the latter would have more likely be the case.
