Some basic facts for this buffoon....in 2012, Sierra Leone spent just 205 health-care dollars on each citizen...in 2009, it was a paltry 69 dollars.....and Liberia depends largely on foreign donors for 90 percent of its primary health-care needs....nations in the West African region spend negligible amounts of money as percentages of their GDP on health-care. That is the sobering reality, Arthur Kobina Kennedy.....
Any time this man contributes his two cents to a national debate, he inadvertently exposes his gross ignorance of fundamental issues......like all well-meaning West African politicians, Mahama is doing the best under the circumstances to help stop the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.....however, efforts to combat the disease are being stymied by shoddy and fragile health-care systems, pittance spent on health-care per citizen, acute lack of infrastructure, ignorance and mistrust of health-care workers by rural dwellers in the nations being savaged by Ebola.
Mr. Arthur should these basic facts about the realities on the ground and stop the blame game....Ebola is devastating communities in West Africa because governments pay lip service to the health of their citizens....

Please leave personal hatred and partisan politics out of this. The man has has not criticized the anyone but has urged all of us not move from talk to action. He even commended the President on his speech and the role he is leading Ghana to play to address the ebola pandemic. He has asked several people across the nation to take up our roles and responsibilities in the fight against ebola. You should rather get a life!

Che Andrew, you rather go get a life with your tacit encouragement of diatribes against the President....did you pay close attention to what the doctor said? He was implicitly criticizing Mahama. He could have praised the President and acknowledged the fact that the fight against Ebola is a difficult one and all hands have to be on deck to gain grounds on the disease....he is always quick to shoot his mouth without as much as gathering all the facts....in this case factors that helped the disease to spread as fast as it has.....

Everyone with a problem should be able to come up with at least one solution to the problem. No solution as an answer is not acceptable.
Countries train their doctors differently and award different degrees. It is high time we started conferring Doctor of Medicine degrees to MBChB students who have performed the necessary research projects as some countries do.
The current practice where newly inducted doctors called house officers with no experience whatsoever are left to experiment with (attend to) serious medical cases while residents, specialists and consultants are away must be put to a stop immediately. There must be at least one specialist present 24 hours in three shift rotations to supervise them. Our health system as it is presently is not the best. The situation in the countryside and rural communities is even worse.
Do not doubt the wisdom in these words.

Arthur Kennedy hasn't said anything against the president in his article. He rather commended the president for taking a bold decision to hub Ebola at Accra.
However, he made one factual inaccuracy in his article, and that is the assertion that some people in Ghana politically disagreed with the president in his speech at the UN general assembly meeting. He failed to provide evidence to that effect.
