The indiscipline in Ghana started with Rawlings, when the PDC nonsense started. Agree that so long as NDC remains a strong party, CPP will continue to decline, but some of it is CPP's own doing. CPP has it all wrong, they think that some how if they hail Nkrumah then it would translate to increased membership, but what they don't realize is that most people are not interested in the "stale" message that they hold on to. None of the two coups by Rawlings was necessary -- in 1979 the military was about to hand over to civilian rule and in 1981 we had a democratic government which would have kept/thrown Limann out depending on how the people felt.

Gbedemah was one example - he fled to the US, knowing full well that Nkrumah would have thrown him into jail for embezzlement. The fact that the US and the Danquah-Busia jihadist army (NLC) welcomed him speaks volumes. Nkrumah could not do away right away with the uncommitted forces within his government and party but he was training a new breed that was ideologically correct at the Winneba Ideological Institute. He was definitely planning a big shakeup after his trip to Vietnam. Furthermore, in Dark Days in Ghana, Nkrumah exposed all the fakes like Botsio etc.

CPP is better off without the fakes - from part-me foreign intelligence and NDC operative Kwesi Pratt to the Tchikatas and Awhois. What kind of Nkrumaist serves in a government that approves of the 1966 coup and honours the traitor, Kotoka? What kind of Nkrumaist serves in a government that collaborated with the IMF and sold off or stole the greatest number of industrial enterprises and other assets built by Nkrumah?

Then after few years in politics, they have become some of the wealthiest people with millions of hard currencies to their names. Strange, their followers still vote for them without thinking through issues. In this day and age school pupils go to school sitting on stones to learn, young people have resorted to prostitution. Friends this is an inevitable race to the bottom. The government must lead the way to salvage the negative externalities that are plaguing our dear nation and voters should exercise their suffrage using their heads. The government is presiding over the biggest resources in the history of our nation and has contracted the largest loan agreements than any other government, but our people are under the most severe scourge of mismanagement and corruption. It is pathetic that some still don't get it when others critique the government.

It is time for CPP reorganize, rewrite a strong constitution that punishes disobedience and insubordination by party members, officials and MPs. With the most noble exception of Samia Nkrumah, every other CPP MP has betrayed the party and gone to bed with the ruling government party. The current sole CPP MP for example won the election out of the disappointment and rage people feel against the 2 thieving parties, NDC and NPP. Yet the bastard, who now sits and votes with NDC, irrationally claims his constituency wanted him align with the NDC. Why would the constituents vote CPP only to then ask their MP to become an NDC MP?

CPP had its work cut out for it a long time ago. Party discipline, vigorous grassroots work, launching the campaign now not after Congress!!! No need for anybody to cry over the exit of opportunistic traitors.

But now with hindsight, we have an opportunity to avoid the situation that brought it about, not excluding the behaviour of Ghanaians and especially the opposition parties at the time, who after losing to Limman, saw an opportunity to taste power, not least imagining that Rawlings was in for the long haul. Just as some are calling for another overthrow of Mahama and NDC now. So let Rawling be.
