Starrfm is based in Ghana. But I've noticed their tendency to refer to Ghana as in a rather detached sort of way 'the West African state' or 'ex-British colony', as if they're aliens writing about Ghana for an alien audience, much like colonial reporting. That's just weird. Do you think the CNN or some other American media house will constantly refer to the USA as 'the North American nation' or 'the former British colony'? Just ridiculous!

Ghanaians, in all our simplicity and naivete sit here and think, oh the press is free, educative, fair and balanced. The western media belongs wholesale - lock, stock and barrel, to capitalists, so therefore, they are strictly and subserviently partial to global capitalist interests and they are also ferociously protective of their neo-colonies from where they the major capitalist economies feed fat from.
Apart from sorting this matter out by war, in which case we should be ready to take on the full mighty force of NATO, whatever other decision that may be arrived at by any international tribunal, will simply be a behind the scenes decision between the US, France and Britain.
Both Ghana and La Cote d' Ivoire are mere neo-colonies. Their opinions and decisions dont really count or matter in this matter.

Influence Georgetown and Sorbonne trained arbitrators play play in these international arbitration matters!
I can`t believe the CDI could be that intransigent if they are not counting on on some behind-the-scene or some hidden assurances. Even more to the point, Ghana has not had good representation at many of these international conferences - particularly the ones relating to the Law of the Sea,since we do not see ourself as a maritime nation with maritime/coastal interests to protect, and thus may not have opposed some of the nebulous principles/concepts which have evolved in recent times.

Well, senior, even international arbitration can be influenced by some major powers. France stands to gain if much of the resource is ceded to Cote d'Ivoire, which lies in France's sphere of influence. For similar reasons, however, the US is unlikely to back Cote D'Ivoire behind the scenes against Ghana, not least because of direct American interest in Ghana's producing and upcoming oil fields, unless, of course, the Americans consider Cote D'Ivoire's business and regulatory regime more favourable.

An Ivorian man and a Ghanaian woman have been dating for quite some time. He wants her in the worst way, but she won't sleep with him because she's saving herself for marriage. As they are kissing, and doing their thing, he gets all horny; and says, "Oh come on, just a feel."
She replies, "No, I'm saving myself for marriage." They go back and forth.
He says, "Just one feel, I promise, that's all, just one feel."
She finally agrees, "Okay, just one feel, but that's all, just one, I'm saving myself for marriage."
So he puts his hand down her panties and takes a little feel. Things are getting a lot warmer and he asks, "Can't we PLEASE?"
She of course states, "NO, I'm saving myself for marriage."
He begs, "Please, please?" and she answers, "No, no, absolutely not, I'm saving myself for marriage."
He suggests, "How about if I agree to only just put the tip in?"
She says, "No way, I'm saving myself for marriage."
He begs and pleads with her,"I promise, just the tip, no more, and we'll stop after that."
She finally gives in, "Okay, but just the tip, no more, and that's all." He agrees, pulls down her panties and puts the tip in... the sensation makes him lose control and he shoves it all the way in and starts pumping like crazy.
Meanwhile, she's moaning and groaning and shouts, "OKAY, GO AHEAD, PUT IT ALL THE WAY IN!"
A little stunned, he says, "NOPE, absolutely not. A deal's a deal!"

Given the history of cooperation between the Ivorians and the two Western stalwarts, we cannot count on the two Western Powers to support us in this dispute, even if we deserve to win.
Moreover, the current Ghanaian Government is not very much liked by the USA as the French like the Ivory Coast. One might think that the presence of Kosmos, an American Company, in controlling ownership of Ghana's Oil Fields might encourage the USA to favor us. But no. The Americans might think Kosmos could get a better deal with the Ivorians than with us, and decide for the Cote d'Ivoire. We must also remember that the dominant presence of France Businesses in the Ivory Coast offers France the incentive to back the Ivorians.
We may just be lucky that other members of the Arbitration group may be in majority and would prepoderantly vote for us.
Now, folks would surely see how the divide-and-conquer Imperial tactics would be at play to seek the best interest of the West at our expense.
Imagine if we the native African Countries had a better Economic cooperation and mutual assistance commitment, we could at worst amicably share the Oil that may lie close to or expand across our common border with the Ivory Coast, without any Western inducements on either side.
It could be a sore experience for us all over again, after being cheated by the USA on the Valco deal, decades ago.
Long Live Ghana!!!
