I think we are all misreading Kenu. I am very sure his lawyer might have informed him that this is a criminal case, State vs. Gyan. Then knowing how corrupt Ghanaian judges are, he decided to take his cut and leave state to pursue its side. Basically, he instinctively knew money is going to exchange hands somewhere along the line, he will rather want the money coming to him than into the hands of a judge. It is him who received the blows to the ears, he will be doubly mad if some crook wearing some horse hairs double down on him on his blind side. Money talks in Ghana you know

He said some people following Baffour Gyan assaulted him. The guying knowing his case blinked when he was about to be cross examined. They used the Asamoah Gyan's name to make the case stick and larger than what it really should have been. If I were Baffour Gyan, I would sue him for causing his unlawful incarceration, and I will sue the Graphic directors in Accra for slander and libel.

As I have continued to say, we must stop this nonsense about journalists thinking they are special people who are above all decent norms and who must be treated with kid gloves like little babies.
Doctors, teachers, Civil Servants, kaya-yei, policemen and policewomen, market-women, traders and everybody else faces these kinds of occasional conflicts or assaults in society everyday and no one makes such a huge fuss about it as these tro-ke-kpendwe journalists are doing, and making it seem as if it is the end of the world.
If the so-called journalists association, in all their dishonest and cheating best, think that they can blackmail the entire society to kow-tow to their unscrupulous and unprofessional whims to run rough-shod over us, they lie bad and they have got something else coming to them.
All they are doing at the moment is only provoking a massive consensus of public dislike against themselves.
The guy went ahead and insulted the Gyans with a stupid dumb question and was rightly whacked for it. End of the story.
Now if the chap in question thinks that he cannot emotionally support the public attention that this issue is drawing and therefore he wants to withdraw the case, what business is it of that mother-fucker Graphic CEO or the corrupt GJA to feel let down?
We the public are also tired of journalists from nowhere and with no academic or social pedigree, randomly in their spiteful and uneducated ways, wrecking the lives of successful people and getting away with it in the unjustified name of some press freedom. Their fixation on the more petty goings-on in society, leaves much to be desired.
And by the way, who is this Dr Doris Yaa Dartey, Board Chairman of the Graphic Communications Group, who like Lauretta Lamptey has also popped out from nowhere and for obvious and probably not too decent reasons, has been given a job which she is very likely, by her utterances, not qualified to do? What is her media and professional background?
I think Kenu should now leave the matter in the hands of his lawyers and if the Graphic or that useless GJA try to impose any untoward action on him so as to deprive him of any of his civil liberties, professional benefits and human rights in any way whatsoever, he should sue them big time.
The Graphic is notorious for wantonly and illegally manipulating its workers with all sorts of devious and unusual administrative directives. We wait to see how they will go about their threats on Kenu who has now become a target of vilification by an incompetent media lynch mob who want to use him and his case as a Trojan horse to press home their unjustified and ridiculous demands for media inviolability and sanctity.

The Board Chair is right. Kenu must be punished. This case was beyond him.
He had no moral right to accept a bribe and ask that the case be dropped. When he was attacked, did he not benefit from the support of his company and all journalists?
The point here is that punishment of the perpetrators would deter attacks on journalists in the future.
If Kenu acts to prevent this deterrent from occuring then he puts at risk all journalists. ANy rich idiot can attack a journalist and expect to face no charges.
Justice is beyond an individual. Are we living in a society or are we barbarians in the jungle?
You fools who cannot see the import of what the woman is saying should advice yourselves. When you have no understanding it is best to learn from those who do.

Are the journalists at the state media more important than the others ? Why haven't these people talked a lot about those who assaulted Afia Pokuaa of Adomfm ? Or is that part of some Ghanaians hate for successful people ? Mr Kenu was the one who got the slaps 'right' he is the one who is having the bodily pains not graphic cooperation so why is graphic soooo much interested in this case to the extent of even their boardchair and MD coming in and threatening of taking a decision on that, some people don't just want to be wasting their time in court and others take consideration from the fact that , they do not want somebody's future destroyed bcos of them and 2 wrongs doesn't make a right. Mr Kenu probably falls in these 2 and more, he take's his family 1st and then these young guys, even though they did the unthinkable but that doesn't mean their future need to be destroyed and Mr Kenu might have taken a whole lot of things into consideration before coming out with that decision so why don't you leave him alone. If it had been a soldier, nobody will talk about it not even the high ups, they should give us a break. Are some Ghanaians more than others ? Mr Kenu doesn't deserve any punishment from his employers since this is not the first time so why do you make this one a scape goat?

The guy was the one who received those hefty slaps and it is his perogative to discontinue any further action on the case. SO IN THIS CASE EVEN IF THERE IS A SECRET COMPENSATION, KENU HAS NOT COMMTTED ANY OFFENCE. HE HAS GOT SOME SATISFACTION FROM THE REMORSE THAT THE PAYMENT AND POSSIBLE APOLOGY WILL GIVE HIM. MOREOVER, BAFFOUUR AND FRIENDS AND FAMILY WILL BY THAT COMPENDSATION BE REFORMED AND DETERRED FROM SUCH ACTIONS IN THE FUTURE CERTAINLY KENU HAS BEEN HEALED FROM THE WITHDRAWAL.. THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS ONE CANNOT SAY MAY BE SOME ATTITUDES SHOWED BY SOME COURT OFFICIALS OR THE LAWYERS INVOLVED INCLUDING COSTS (MAY BE COULD NOT AFFORD LEGAL FEES ETC)AND FREQUENT ADJOURNMENTS AND INTIMIDATION AS WELL AS PRESSURE FROM FAMILY MEMBERS HE RESPECTS , MADE IT WORTHWHILE FOR HIM TO KEEP HIS DIGNITY BY WITHDRAWING. MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING AS THE SAGES TELL US. YES IT S UNFORTUNATE HE COULD NOT TELL MANAGEMENT OF GRAPHIC BUT THERE CERTAIN DECISIONS THat can only make sense to the individual or someone in his shoes. the negative reaction of the graphic management seems to vindicate kenu s decision to spring asurprise in court in ordder not to jeopardise an amical settlement. GRAPHIC MANAGEMENT SHOULD TAKE COMFORT IN THE FACT THAT THE WHOLE HAS KNOWN THEY STOOD BY THEIR MAN AND THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH SATISFACTION FOR THEM. THEY SHOULD NOT OVERREACH BY THE VEILED THREAT TO SO CALLED TAKE A DECISION ON HIM. THAT WILL COUNTER PRODUCTIVE SURELY NOTIN THE FACE OF THE MENTAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA KENU IS YET TO RECOVER FROM. PLEASE THIS RULE OF LAW NOT EGOS

I'm not in any way condoning Baffour Gyan's savage attack on Mr Kenu but the question asked Asamoah Gyan which later provoked the assault appears to have been borrowed from the pages of a pre-historic era journalism guide. It was by no means irresponsible journalism but the assault on Mr Kenu was equally barbaric and has no place in decent society. If Mr Kenu however wants to withdraw charges that's left to him alone to decide. For the Graphic Board to say that Mr Kenu's decision to withdraw charges is an act of betrayal and they will take action against him they are rather exposing their naivety and the low quality of journalism in the country. Journalists are not above the law either and they must approach their job with decency and must always respect the privacy of citizens even as they seek news worthy information from them. You cannot intrude into someone's privacy and expect him to treat you like royalty. The death of Princess Diane is suspected to have resulted from overly harassment from the paparazzi who breached her personal privacy in their attempt to extract information to sell their tabloid newspapers. Journalists in Ghana are no exception and can be such an outrageous nuisance. Leave Mr Kenu alone.

Leave Kenu alone. In future if he gets into trouble,no member of the inky fraternity should rally behind him.He claimed to have been beaten and that he received the beating alone. Therefore Kenu's logic was that he was the sole person to decide his case.
I am very surprised that criminal matter which in every democratic polity is pursued by the state is done differently in Ghana. If the state thinks that Baffour Gyan still has a case to answer, what is preventing them to pursue that angle.
It is his right not to pursue those claims. He may have settled the case and that is not our business. A criminal conviction the assailant may not have served his interest.Kenu has a family suppor and that stacks the deck.
I am shocked to the core. Is out of court settlement not provided for in our constitution? Because you control airwaves you think you should be treated special, journalist?
I think we are all misreading Kenu. I am very sure his lawyer might have informed him that this is a criminal case, State vs. Gyan. Then knowing how corrupt Ghanaian judges are, he decided to take his cut and leave state to p ...

Very UNPROFESSIONAL!

Mr Kenu I think has not got the back bone and absorbers to withstand the numerous calls from politicians and influential people in society to drop the Gyan assault case. He has betrayed both his profession and employers.
Why should this be a concern to anybody? It was Kenu who was slapped and not his employers or the profession that he belongs to. The guy was the one who received those hefty slaps and it is his perogative to discontinue any ...
