Kwadwo don't forget about Tastsu , the ex convict who was the lead counsel for NDC during the petition hearing. The Chief Justice must explain to the good people of Ghana how on earth can an ex convicted lawyer released from jail show up in court to defend a client as a legitimate lawyer?. I am waiting for a response backed by a quotation from the code of ethics in the GBA. Thank you and God bless Ghana.

the same should be applied to become a politician; politicians must obtain a political license like any other professions do in other to become a politician; this will bring sanity into their activities and responsibilities.

It is incumbent upon the GBA to ensure that the indiscriminate abrogation of legally binding contracts by politicians and government officials, which have led to excessive liability for judgement debts, is brought to an end.Since our learned friends have the unequivocal responsibility to draft contracts ,they cannot escape blame for the senseless payment of these debts which could have been utilized to build modern classroom blocks and provided study materials for the kids who still school under trees at the mercy of vagaries of the weather and bird droppings.
It beats my imagination that the lawyers who draft the contract documents cannot anticipate possible scenarios of breaches and, consequently, inculcate relevant clauses to avoid cancellations and forestall the payment of damages for defaulting on the contract.
Ghana needs a better deal from her lawyers, especially, those who were trained at Makola at the expense of tax payers.

in every knowledge-based profession, there is something called continued education - there should be a continued legal education requirement - a number of hours per year. The idea of mandatory courses which may imply testing is simply unworkable. The GBA as the governing body should adopt licensing regulations such as those in the various law societies in Canada + elsewhere. Doctors, dentists etc. must all adhere to continuing education. Finally, there must be some sort of fee structure for basic legal services if we are talking about access to justice (freedom & justice)É
