The voters will decide within the NDC and the population of Ghana as a whole, whether she can be trusted with more state assets like Ghana's oil: see below:

That is the only way to ensure that when they win elections the generality of the people will benefit.

The Christian Council of Ghana must ask itself whether it is wise to take such a partisan position on a political issues.

How does the Council know that 'majority of Ghanaians have lost confidence in President John Mahama and his government'? There are 25 million Ghanaians - how does the Christian Council claim to know how all these people think, and who asked them to voice this publicly?

In the past, the Christian Council has tended to be prudent and non-partisan in its utterances. However, since his appointment as General Secretary, Dr Opuni has been rushing out with statements and been very vocal on behalf of the Christian Council. And Prof Martey as Chair is not exactly known to be silent on national issues.

The Christian Council needs to take a step back and ask itself how best it can play a useful role in the affairs of our land.

Who are the people who should not have been in government and who ought to be fired? Is that your analysis of the problems confronting the nation? I thought you could have gone deeper than that. You sounded quite shallow. Thought you would have borrowed ideas from the USA to help us address problems at home. And why would Mahama not have some people in government who in your opinion were unfit to be there when the intelligent and fit ones like you have left Ghana in search of greener pastures? Sit down and recount the pockets of demonstrations and the harsh criticisms from various sections of Ghanaians. Recount the shame our cedi has gone through this year as the world's worst performing currency and also the inflation rate. Ghana is also going for a bailout from the IMF this year. All this information readily available on-line and Ghanaian emigrants have relatives in Ghana, who feed them with information and so you don't necessarily have to be in Ghana to know what is happening. The fact is there are some people in government like Fiifi Kwettey and his fellow propagandists who do not know. Renowned institutions like GSS and the Bank of Ghana, whose staff members are paid with the taxpayer's money are not able to provide us with credible on inflation and the exchange rates. The truth remains that if you earn genuine money in the country our present state is distasteful and is man-made.

But is there is any institution that must speak the truth in difficult times, it must be the CC. The CC must maintain a strong statesman outlook, watching out for the people all the time, ensuring that our hard-earned resources are applied as agreed to. They have pinpointed the their issue with this government, namely, NUMEROUS UNFULFILLED PROMISES, and I think that is what must be debated here. Let us call on the CC to maintain this surveillance from government to government, giving praise where it is due and caution where they must. It is a good exercise for which they must be encouraged and not vilified, but they must sustain it demonstrably.

This was even before the Northern Territories (now the Northern, the Upper East and Upper West Regions)became part of Gold Coast. British Togoland (Volta Region) were not actively part in our struggle for independence. The Ashantis settled in Ghana even before the Gas. The Ewes and Anlos were among the last tribes to join Ghana and that was in 1956.
