Addo probably announced that earlier enough so that people opposed to that move will have little room to maneuver. Addo is aware that there are some so called Old guards in the party who think that Bawumia is quite young in the party and others should have been considered first.What NPP and Ghana needs now is one who can deliver to the people.
Yes, there are factionalism in the party that must be resolved but all parties in the country have factions. Unless people can come out to point out what is wrong with the choice of Bawumia by Addo, I think Addo is right.

Now I believe Jonah needs some tutorials from the Ghanaian "grass root" to understand why Nana has preemptively picked Bawumia as a running mate ahead of the final congress.
The answer is simple ...VOTES and specifically the Northern votes, because Bawumia has become the darling of the 3 Northern Regions. Aside that, Bawumia is seen by most NPP followers as the "lone star" in the Election petition and so most NPP guys would love to throw their support behind Bawumia, so Nana, being smarter than the rest of the NPP contenders decided to announce to the whole world that he wants to go with Bawumia again and that is what seals the deal for Nana.
So Jonah, do you need any more education on this? This is street politics. (Common sense) One does not need a Ph.D. to figure this out.
