Even though we have the rich natural resources that other nations are killing for!

If Kwasi Botchey couldn't save Ghana during his long reign as Finance Minister, what makes us to think that he can wrought magic this time around? What did his SAP with the IMF accomplished? He even won the best finance minister for destroying our economy and now we want to go back to him? We are a country of jokers who keep rewarding mediocrity and foolishness and until we put a stop to this, we can't get anywhere. If the PV Obengs, Tsikatas, Ahwois, Garbrahs etc could have saved the country, they would have done so long time ago so what's the absession with them?

It's only Africa that the more God blesses us with natural resources, the poorer we become. Our political and educated elites have become so greedy and selfish that they have thrown away common sense. But they should remember that one day, one day, they will stand before a superior being to answer for their stewardship as PV Obeng might be doing now.

The Bretton Woods institutions are lenders of last result due to the harsh but realistic conditionality they put in place - that is in a plain man's language if you can't handle your resources/assets/debts etc. we can do that but based on our conditions. Rwanda a country that witnessed genocide has turned around based on the following: 1. create a vision; 2. address corruption at all levels, especially at the highest echelon of power, 3. create an enabling environment for business, especially the private, 4. develop a competitive advantage outside the traditional raw material and extractive industries in this case, the IT sector as a hub in the region. President Kigame by getting it right undertook its own reform and used Financial Direct investment (FDI) to initiate the vision.

On the contrary what we have in Ghana is totally the opposite and rather unfortunate or the best word is sad irrespective of who leads the negotiation the basic conditions for Bretton Wood bailout and support stands remains unchanged, a comparison is going for a loan the basic requirements doesn't change.

The devil is in the details and this includes potential increase in tariffs, taxes, cut down of social services and restructuring the public sector and potentially the public and civil service cut down....do you need the IMF to undertake these reforms? No, except when there is lack of confidence and no vision in government and the leader.
