  Enough of calling government to your aid all the time when such basic thing especially can be fixed by private business. Agriculture should be treated as business so as to attract the business community to invest and make it more attractive no appeal for funds altitude. Tell us your problems specifically and we will bring in the solution we can always negotiate on terms of payment for the farmer. I have enough solar technology solution I can implement for them.

  Many farmers look for subsidies. Even if the required inputs are advanced to them, to be paid off following harvest, it becomes a problem.
  
  Once the harvest is in, even when profitable, servicing loans or paying back cost of inputs, as agreed on, becomes a problem.
  
  Like you Larry, I would be willing to prefinance a maize farmer for example. On harvesting, I would expect to be paid back my inputs at a fair price or in kind. After all, no matter what, I will need maize for my poultry.
  
  People just don't want to do the right thing.

  This is one of the problems. If Ghanaians are not stealing electrical cables, they will dig out pipes and sell them as scrap.

  This is one of the problems. If Ghanaians are not stealing electrical cables, they will dig out pipes and sell them as scrap.
  
  After all this, many trun around and blame the government.
  
  Takyi Effah, Director of MoFA, while appealing to government to revive the second irrigation site by probably relaying pipes, does not shed light on what will be done to stop theft at the site.
  
  The thieves are probably getting their pick-axes ready, as I write!
  
  A darn shame!
