It was a military constitution with military in mind not democracy.
First the Supreme Court has to be put right before the country can make any progress. Afari Gyan should be sacked and all political parties and paliament should agree. The fool Gyan is using the independence of the EC to abuse ghanaians democracy. The fool said he knew there were lots errors in 2012 general elections yet still made it go on. What a fool of a chairman is he. He is asking political parties to come on the 8/9/2014 to help him do his work. What is his job if he cant correct mistakes and show all ghanaians the mistakes he made have been corrected.
He is stupid with useless pride. The Supreme Court said the Electoral system need reforming not political parties. Independence dont mean you shouldnt listen and take act when the whole Supreme Court make an order.
Useless pride by Afari Gyan will again lead political parties to court if we dont speak out now. If he cant obey the supreme Court we should sack him.

1992 Constitution was badly written and should be amended. Just because the constitution mention independence every fool thinks they cant do want ever they want.
This man is very right and ghanaians should support him to get the contitution amended or we have a new constitution.
1992 contitution is Rawlings constitution. Ghanaians were not thinking clearly when it was written. Those who said it was wrong were sent to prison or killed.
On the part of EC because of the word independent Afari Gyan thinks he should be the only one to decide. He is very wrong and shameless after we allowed him to do the work alone. He messed up all are electoral system and the supreme court cant say anythng because of the word independence.

Damn twat! What kind of professor is this who has an intense interest in a judiciary, which, by his implicit assumptions, should have ruled in favour of the NPP? Everything points in favour of the assertion that this Prempeh guy is a staunch NPP member, thus spewing his uncouth biases. Why is this man making so much noise now? Where was he four, five, ten, fifteen years ago regarding the mode of operation of the supreme court and the electoral commission? Where were his destructive criticisms, then? Such stinking-mouth professors are the reason one prominent Ghanaian politician such Ghanaian intellectuals are paid to talk, not to think. What contributions has this Prempeh made to the judicial system in Ghana?

Talking of reforms in our constitution, I wonder why a poor country as we are should every 4 years go for general elections and pump huge amount of money into the economy with its adverse effects after the elections. The 4 -year term is simply not enough. One term 6-year term is what we need. This would enable drastic policies to be implemented.

This is what happens when you have a lazy, ignorant and dysfunctional Parliament. Mr. "Professor" the Supreme Court can only attempt to interpret the laws passed by Parliament. Parliament has the power to pass new legislation or amend any erroneous interpretation of the law. It's stupid for NPP Parliamentarians to boycott the vetting of Ministers, but not pass new legislation to clarify or amend what the Supreme Court did if they found it unjust. I suggest that a new organization called "Occupy parliament" should be created.

I think learned people should have the common sense about processes and act in accordance with principles and dignity. Is this Naughty Professor trying to tell Ghanaians that the best way to amend our constitution is to shout on radio and television and hold news conferences?
What a waste material calling himself renowned professor....It is sickening and His actions go to promote indiscipline behaviour in society because everyone will think that is the process.
Bankye Ngo professor if you don’t know the process i will entreat to ask and spare our ears with your nonsense

Prof Adei is rigth: it should be possible to check the results from the polling station level to the total country results. In the last election this was not possible. How can you have transparent elections if nobody can check the results? Preferably the results of a polling station should at least contain the following numbers: number of registered voters at the polling station, number of voting ballots giving out, number of votings ballots cast, number of valid cast votes, number of invalid cast votes, number of votes for a candidate. It is suspicious that it is not possible to make the most simple calculations for checking the results fitting, because for lack of adequate detailed results. It is a serious fault of the EC.

What is the import of Kwesi Prempeh's presentation? Zero! Why do some people think they can use their academic and professional credentials to bully others. Is he the only one with a PhD in Constitutional Law in Ghana? Indeed, Aziz Bamba who was part of the President's legal them has his PhD in Constitutional at Harvard Law School and has been practicing law ever since and not a mere teacher. Let him go and test these straw arguments in any Law court in the world and see his size. What made him think he is smarter than the Supreme Court Judges? Has he ever been a judge in his life? I will be blunt with him. Being a University teacher in the United Kingdom does not put him ahead of anybody in terms of intellect and the knowledge of the law. The fact of the matter was, NPP's case was a bogus case without merits. The Supreme Court in its wisdom wanted peace and calm to prevail and such granted some sort of concession to ensure such peace. The judgment was indeed clear and unambiguous. English language is not Kwesi Prempeh's 'bona fide' property.
We all read them and understood them without ambiguity. I would like to underscore that the Supreme Court unlike the NPP believes in independence of other state institutions. It was therefore only prudent for the court to make recommendations for the EC without necessary instructing the EC as if it is its subordinate. This is common sense and not any legal prowess. Pure and simple! We are feed up with the NPP and its apologists.
