AUTHOR: MR. FIGURE-OUT----------------
It is only in Ghana would such a dishonorably idiot be on the government pay roll. Professor Mill should be solely blamed for imposing those criminals on us. After Mills found Betty Moulds guilty of judgement debt payments the only thing he could do was to move her to the Education dept to continue her looting. Readers would recall that Betty Mounds was the one who awarded SCHOOL building contracts at a triple price of the existing contract sum of some GH 80,000.00. And this happened at a time when they claim inflation was in the single digits. Could you imargin how foolish these criminal liars were. Kuffour built similar structures with 80,000 at a time when inflation was around 14.8% and under Mills it was 240,000 at a rate of 8.8%. And these buffoons turn around to blame the fall of the cedi on some mysterious dwarfs. I don't blame those African countries that have been ripped apart by civil unrest because if you have such buffoons in power who always turn our local elections into a West Africa one
by contracting Togolese Trokosis, Burkinabe and Wangaras from La Cote D'ivoire to vote for them, the " Road To Kigare", is sometimes, a likely option to kick their ass from power.

Concerning the abysmal performance of candidates, otumfour should have added the lack of electricity for students to study in the evenings. The Dum sor is killing the country. How long does it take for students to get water for home and their own use? What about lack of school supplies? Some schools do not even have writing chalk, textbooks, exercise books, and even real classrooms. How do you expect such students to do well in exams? It sometimes take over a year for new teachers to be paid. How do you expect them to give up their best? Does the army march on empty stomachs? That is why we blame the government. Pupil teachers are used to teach as graduates while real graduates cannot get to the classroom. So we now get a true picture of why our students are failing.

The destruction of the Ghanaian education systems started with Rawlings after the introduction of the so called junior and senior secondary schools. I am a product of the pre- senior and junior secondary schools but still very proud of it. I could not attend any of the prestigous secondary schools mostly located at the coast of Ghana but i could still manage a university education. The old secondary system had it's flaws but there was no need for the complete change JJ did. The present crop of leaders past and present enjoyed successfully the old system but they are destroying what made them what they are now, no wonder they send their children and chronies to schools, univ's in europe and america so they don't care about what happens to the system back home.

Otumfuo, Nana Asantehene, you seem to have forgotten the Bompata chieftaincy dispute case. As a result of this inaction on the part of your Asanteman Council, the town has been left without a queen mother for several years now, while the current chief who resides in Accra hardly visits the town.
No wonder there is no development whatsoever going on in this town. Without vision, the people really perish, especially the youth of this town. Is this what the Asanteman Council wishes for the same people they are supposed to serve?
It is amazing how we fail to correct injustice in our society as leaders even if our failure to do so is detrimental to the very society we are expected to serve; yet we cry out loud for justice when the matter at hand adversely concerns us.
It is equally amazing to observe that cases brought before the Asanteman Council can drag for over 40 years without any attempt to call for settlement. Such gross inefficiencies definitely call for urgent need to reform the way the Asanteman Council operates.

The chief thinks the children failed, but it not the children but their parents. Whatever a teacher teach without the help of parents the child cant pass.
Why should children write Exams when the teachers know they will not pass. Why should parents not move their children into training as carpenters, builders or even steel works.
Our children should not be force or their parents or state should not waste money on their children to learn the whiteman language and things they do.
Our children hasnt failed, its the parents who failed them. How many parents ask their children to read and write for them to see whether the child can or not.
Let stop blaming govts and let think what we can do with our children. Any govt minister or the president saying every child should have basic education is wrong.
Even in the white man country their children cant read their own hand writing let alone spell.
In ghana every kid can express themself in english and that should be enough for them to get a job or training.

The Asantehene is somebody I have grown to love and continue to love over the years since he became King. He has been very careful with what he says and does. He hardly comments on sensitive issues but when he does, he is right on the spot!
Though the poor performance of students in the WASSCE over the years may be attributed to several factors, one key factor, as mentioned by the Asantehene, is the undue interference by the ruling governments (NDC and NPP) over the past decade with the period of SHS education in Ghana. While the NDC believes that SHS education should only be for THREE years, the NPP thinks FOUR years is better for good results.
I was on the Board of WAEC for at least six years (2004 - 2013). There is a vast difference in the performance of students in the four year stream of SHS and those in the three year stream of SHS. I am NOT politicising the issue - facts are facts and anybody doubting this can go to WAEC and get the results over the past ten years and make his/her own analysis. The four year period saw students in the less endowed schools performing better in the WASSCE!
When planning social intervention programmes such as poverty alleviation, we should not use the RICH people as the yardstick or baseline cases. One must use the very poor people predominantly in the rural inaccessible areas as the baseline cases for such social interventions.
In the same way, when planning for high performance and good results at the SHS level, we must not use the premier schools like Achimota, Wesley Girls, Presec, etc. But we should rather use the SHS schools, in say, Afidiem SHS which have few qualified teachers and virtually no infrastructural facilities. In short, even if the duration in SHS schools is cut down to TWO years, the students in the premier schools will still make it due to the fact that those schools already have highly qualified tutors, very good facilities and infrastructure. Added to that most of the Examiners of WAEC are from those premier schools.
The bottomline in achieving good academic results is to allow sufficient time for teaching and learning in the so-called less endowed schools. Barring all other delays like teachers' strikes, delays in reopening due to ebola, etc, at least THREE years of actual continuous tuition at the SHS level. This will enable the teachers in the less endowed schools to cover the syllabi and give time to the students to "digest" the stuff before they sit the exams.
But here we are cutting down the period to three years! So most students hardly get ONE full year of tuition in the less endowed schools, as a result syllabi are not fully covered and the poor students are left to their fate leading to mass failures! There is NO future for Ghana with that level of mass failures in the WASSCE!

Say it again Nana. It's a big shame as politics eats into our educational system. But the worst is the NDC govt trying to justify the results as 2nd best. How can 78% fail yet be deemed as 2nd best. Shame and a big one that.

Nana has spoken, yes politicians would have to stop using education as a tool, changes here and there thereby putting the whole structure into confusion. But in our educational road map politicians alone can not be blamed, neither do the teacher alone nor the parents. Now education has become a business where proprietors buy exams papers and get solutions to their candidates just to score good marks and make noisy adverts in the media to attract more students into their schools to make gains. These have being going on for long. The level of exams leakages in this country should not be accepted. In some years when the leakage is blocked you found bad results, students no longer want to learn, they are occupied with whatsapps and the rest of the electronic bitter friendly. Inmature Parenalts are the order of the day too. These days you see teenagers as parents, as mothers who do not have any idea on how to take care of a baby niether child, they can not sacrifices their comforts to taking care of their premature babies hence you found them in the cold loitering with their babies where as they should have been wormly protected in the room from these presents hash weather. You see them everywhere still trying to do what they use to do when they were not nursing babies. Hence most parents when you observe they either over protect the child or grossly neglect the child. These can be observed any where including in Churches. You see a child of four who can not eat or go pee by himself whiles the other child of say three can perfectly do that. The parents spoil the children so when then they reach University they behave exactly like poultry chickens who do not have sense of respect or danger, their bodies can not sacrifices comfort for future gain. Some of these tenager mothers might not be their fault as the country continuous to witness high rate of defilements cases and the weakness in the legal system. These day you see students scoring high amrks in all areas but when they are admitted they can not simply perform simple algebra nor mathematics yet he or she is reading engineering , these students have very poor sense of calculations, where are heading towards a serious time bomb because these are the people who would inherit us when we are gone. We need to accept the results like that, is a real reflection of what our children are and further super clue the leakages. The solutions lies in a holistic approach which would open the discussion to new kind of can worms.

Nana "mo ne kasa" you have said it all.
Our children's future is at stake. This is not acceptable the way our leaders taking us as fools, and moreover, when they attempt to spin everything, and compares it to the past years to make what is bad seems as if it is good.
It is worrying to see that the rich in Ghana is the politician, while the farmer, the teacher, the fisherman, and everybody else is poor and getting poorer, well this Nana is unacceptable so you have well said.
Please do not play politics with our children's future and the future of Ghana. This is our homeland, we must fight for her even it comes to it we shed our blood to protect her for our children's sake.
Whiles politician can send their children to be educated in another country, the rest of us cannot, and educate ours under mango trees, and sings "here we go around the mango trees" because they do have facilities.
GYEEDA;SADA;SUBAH;YES and WOYOME have become the bane or scheme to shift our meager resources to the politicians pocket. Our children are failing while we are thinking of building a better and bigger airports. How many of us can try by plane, but all of our children can benefit good schools, and yet the leaders seems to have lost it and becoming greedier by the day. Over to you Mr. Mahama. The word to the wise is enough. The Asantehene has spoken and the rest is up to you.

Good points made, Nana!
The performance in the educational sector of each of the two political parties that have ruled the country under the 4th Republic has been such a failure that the debate between them is not about a comparison of successes -- but a comparison of failures! Recently, the current Deputy Minister of Education went high asserting that the recent WASSCE results are better a performance than what obtained under the rule of Kufour-led NPP government!
That Deputy Minister was in effect not addressing the recent WASSCE results for what they are, bad and a failure! Rather, he was addressing those results for what he believes were their political worth, a comparison between NDC's performance and NPP's performance! Both the recent WASSCE results under the current NDC-led government and the WASSCE results under the NPP-led government were each a failure! What, then, is the point of comparison between them!
No wonder, it's only in a world of midgets does it matter to compare the heights of two midgets!

I am extremely surprise not even a single marker of WAEC examinations in Ghana never commented on the fact that in most cases, the marking schemes actually requires that students who provide answers as provided in approved text book should be mark down because the marking scheme provides a different answer. Please somebody must speak to this. How are the text books approved and how does WAEC get their marking schemes with answers outside the approved text books not as alternative answers but as the only answer to questions. We may blame teachers sometimes but what about the teachers who are not examiners and therefore are not preview to what the WAEC requirement are, thus teaching purely with the GES approved text book. Why is it that everybody this year 2014, expects all WAEC candidates to have scored IQ of 75-100? Just as there extra TALL people (GIANTS) and extra SHORT(DWARFS) in any given population so also there are the various shades of degrees of INTELLIGENCE. How could anyone even conjecture that at any given time all students should be able to score 1st CLASS UPPER and never 2nd CLASS LOWER in any Examination? In any given population there will always be the H. Bolts, the Bill Gates, the Asantehenes and the commoners. If anything at all, this year's results have been the second highest since 2006. Surely, there is always room for improvement in the numbers of students who attain the qualifying grade to enter Tertiary Institutions, it does not mean that ALL JAMEICANS should be able to clock 9 seconds in 100m dash simply because Bolt does it.

We have to brain storm during exams and put our maximum best effort and some of us make it succesfully by getting average grade and some couldnt get the target grades .

You will be contacted by a team of fraudsters who will claim to know you, buy a car or any item you have for sale.
One of them is in abroad usually UK etc who will send you some goods (luggage or parcel) with money and will give you a code and phone numbers to clear the goods.
When you call the phone numbers they will confirm you and ask you to pay some amount of money through mobile money or GCB etc, later before the goods will be delivered to you at your door step.
They will not want you to come to their office but claim to deal in door to door services.
A number of people have been defrauded by these criminals
They usually use GLO and Tigo lines and names such as: London Instant Cargo Services, Door to Door Cargo Services, Instant Cargo Delivery Services etc

Why is it always a problem for people to talk or debate on issues on this platform? There is an emotional blindness or sheer stupidity. The noble king is making sense whilst others just jump to blame. Oh! Ghana da b3n da?

Listen, politicians, labour force and unions to the voice of reason. National interests must take prevalence over selfishness. That's what the king is counseling.
An Addition, it does not make sense to pay able-bodied experienced 60-year old teachers to stay home while we employ some in-experienced young people as teachers unwilling to teach.
