A law should be enacted to make the construction of all future highways and rail-tracks networks dual-carriage to save lives and properties.
Maintaining 1901 major highway construction paradigm is simply unacceptable and recipe for more such death traps. Atopa could have turned all this around with proper management and no waste or leakages in fiscal affairs.

Why can't Ghana with all our resources construct proper motoways linking our cities? At least one from Accra to Kumasi will do as too many accidents occur on this 'one-logo-logo road'.

Road accident kills in Ghana than any sickness. Last year (2013) alone, road accident killed more than 18,000 precious human beings, yet president Mahama and his NDC cronies have no clue to implement any new methodologies to train and re-train drivers. I am suggesting that the government issues orders to the Ghana motor vehicles department to give all drivers in Ghana 3 to 6 months to go for class room driving lessons and after that be given a thorough driving exam by the same body. Next is to say all those who pass the classroom exam be given physical car road test by the officials of Ghana motor vehicles department. If drivers don't perform well while being tested on road and being supervise by the department's official, no person should be given driving license in Ghana. If Ghana implements U.S's method of training people before driving licenses are given, I tell you what, fatal accidents that results to daily, weekly, monthly....deaths would be reduced immensely. I have written all the above; thinking that when our leaders read it, they would be caring and wise enough to implement it but that's not Ghanaian leaders--they would read my comment and either reply me with insulting slurs or over look the wisdom in my writing. That's Ghana for you. Ghanaian leaders are dumb and uncaring. That's why they don't think uprightly. Why should we lose 20 God's created people one day within a second of cars crash? In Ghana, road accident is dangerous than HIV/AIDS, typhoid and Ebola disease. Too bad.

STATION YOURSELVES AROUND THESE HIGHWAYS AND PICK OUT THESE OVERSPEEDERS. LET THEM PAY A FINE. HIT THEM IN THEIR POCKETS WHERE IT HURTS THE MOST.

What do you expect when Driving Licences are sold and obtained at the parking lots of our Motor AND Vehicle
Registry Departments daily throughout the country.
I saw first hand licences being sold to new drivers and drivers mates for C2.5 cedis ....with no written exams and no road-worthy tests whatsoever.
They usually go there to see Mr. so-so and so or see Alhaji so-so and so. to obtain their licences.
Our lack of seriousness for the Rule of Law is the main cause of Road accidents in Ghana.
But then again since corruption is the only institution that works in our homeland what should we expect on our killer roads..deaths and more deaths.Sad isn't it?
Like Kwame once said:"We either clean the swamp or live in it"...Nobody listened.

If you were that concerned about developments in Ghana, you would be here in Ghana slugging it out with the rest of us to change things around fore the better.
You are worse than the people who you describe as dumb Ghanaian leaders. At least they are still here in all their dumbness trying in their little ways to improve things. But you, where are you? Reaping where you have not sown.

I beg to differ with you. Dual carriage roads or not accidents will happen in their numbers on Ghana Roads. What the Ghanaian driver needs on the highways is common sense, drive sensibly, change of attitude with police presence. What do we see on the Tema motorway? Serious accidents. Unless the Ghanaian driver learns that roads and vehicles are death traps and should use common sense and obey traffic regulations death will always occur in their numbers on our roads. May they rest in peace.

Lately, some big wigs in the government are so bent on coughing up funds to renovate stadiums and provide the logistics to host AFCON 2017 after Libya chickened out.
How many years and how many administrations will it take to make Kumasi-Accra road, the busiest highway in the country a dual-carriage one?
Hmm. Are black people inferior to the whites of what?
