Only in Ghana someone steals plantain and a judge sentences him to 10years in prison, Outdated judges. They need refresher courses. Community service, tags after serving half of sentence should be introduced. It is proven crime rate doesn't go down however severe the sentence may be. Tax payers will save money from not feeding inmates, workload and human resources will reduce. THINK GHANA, THINK AFRICANS

Sometimes it is possible judges are bribed just to do that to kill the veracity of cases against rich men.
It never makes sense to keep someone in remand for such a long time.
Non- custodial sentencing is a good way to free the prisons and also a better way to correct minor offenders. After all, sending some one to prison is not only about punishing the person but also to help reform the person in order not to repeat the offence or even think of doing any criminal act.
Free the prisons. Keep the hardened criminals in there.

that is where we also have to be thinking about anti-social behavior orders issued by metropolitan and municipal and district assembles backed by the courts to decongest the prison again this comes to the question does prison work.
A full criminological question needing criminological thinking/answer.
please minister you have a good foresight involve and assemble criminologist to think and modify and reform the prison service by organizational learning.
