Kofi, I know you needed the money that you worked hard for but you should not have worried. It was a cheque not cash and so the ministry would have stopped payment on it and issue you with another one if it had not been found ...

That's it, its a no brainer...all he had to do was call the issuer to stop payment, and issue another one.
