After injecting your partisan pessimism, you should have followed up with a concise strategy to raise the balance and involve local Ghanaian businesses. I am sure that if we open it up to the numerous Ghanaian millionaires, we can find at least 50 Ghanaians (individuals or groups) with a million dollars each to make up the difference you referred to without any real analysis. We love to complain about everything but never want to make sacrifices towards real change.

DIFFICULTY IN GETTING RAW MATERIAL -SUGAR CANE FOR THE FACTORY ABOUT TO BE REVIVED.
COST OF PRODUCTION - FOREIGN EXCHANGE CHALLENGES FOR MATERIALS IMPORTS
LABOUR COST
COMPETITIVE IMPORTED SUGAR PRODUCT @ PRODUCED AT VERY LOW COST OF PRODUCTION
MANAGEMENT CHALLENGES AND MANY OTHER ENVIROMENTALS & ECONOMIC FACTORS CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THIS REVIVAL PROJECT DOES NOT ADD UP CONSIDERING CURRENT BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT IN GHANA!!!!
THIS REVIVAL SHOW PEACE WOULD BE JUST ONE OF NDC PROPAGANDA TO SHOW AND DECEIVE GHANAIANS AND PEOPLE OF CENTRAL REGION!!!

It seems you do not know what you write about ! And I'm not afraid to point out that Frankling Cudjoe and his IMANI's report is not accurate.
How was the factory able to produce Sugar, then and now, people like Franklin Cudjoe think it can't with gov't stake of $36 m.
It's time Ghanaian back home know the value of the dollar.$36m is a big money in America.
Having said that, in the first place it's not the truth that , Komenda Sugar Factory collapsed in the 80's as reported by starrfmonline.com.
Komenda Sugar Factory is one of the several /many State Owned factories gov't refused to revamped, closed and put on Divestiture by the Rawlings administration in the early 90's.
It had 2 Sugar Cane farms at Komenda and Asutuare respectively. I do not see how Foreign exchange concerns raised, come into play here.Because you grow your raw material which takes only some months to mature,before/while renovation work is started or is in progress. Therefore, there's nothing like difficulty in getting raw material.Again, about 1or 2 more farms lands could be acquired to existing ones to boost raw material production. Farmers could also be encouraged to start/ revert to that specimen of Sugar Cane if they can be sure of ready market and fair price for their produces to supplement the factory's raw material needs.Again, there are a lot of experienced people around to manage the the factory. So what is the problem and what is IMANI,and you, talking about ! Anyway.

there is no way the komenda sugar factory can be revived with 36 million. Mahama should not fool ghanaians and the people in KEEA in particular. 36 million cannot get the factory up and running. The irrigation project to provide water supply for the farms will take almost half of the money. Water canal from Daboasi to komenda will have to be reconstructed. I believe the NDC will start chasing some more loans to make this project a reality. but hope not in the next 15 years. Good Luck.

According to available information, THE NSAWAM CANNERY, by far the biggest and oldest of the State Companies set up after Independence, was revived at the cost of ONLY One Million US Dollars.
Why is it taking at least 35 Million US Dollars to revive a Company with existing infrastructure and in a lesser state of disrepair than the Nsawam Cannery?
By the same Logic, PWALUGU Tomato Processing Factory Management was given 5 (five) Million US Dollars to revive it. Again this was a Factory that had much newer Facilities. Yet, they could NOT EVEN GET THEIR MACHINES STARTED.
Please, this is a very difficult time for the Country and every cedi Improperly SPENT is a cedi needed to help improve the Economy.
May be we should ask the folks who revived the Nsawam Cannery how they did it.

Our so-called think tanks have reduced themselves to mere social critiques. IMMANI should be telling Ghanaians where and how more money can be mobilized to make this important programme functional. We all know that the GHC36m may not be enough but we should be able to raise the factory to a start, then we can begin even from an under capacity status while efforts are made to raise the rest of the money to grow the rest. we must begin from somewhere- one thing that is needed is consistency in our planning process because we should not go to sleep after raising the factory. also since the state is not good at managing businesses efforts should be made to put it in private good hands not party loyalists who have no business acumen. but so far it is a good beginning.

Have you seen any Nsawam tomato paste in the market?
Esther Ocloo started her inustry with 3 pesewas or is it 6 pesewas? And a think tank who should come out with how big industries can start with small monies is rather saying this? God help Ghana.
IMANI has nothing new except to latch on anything that is tabled for development. Let's see them conceiving a project and carrying it through to the end. Whether they like it or not Komenda will rise again.
You see Mahama is not thinking. He follows his heart and not head. He in fact is a waste of time. nothing he touches works.Nonsense.
So these guys are they Ghanaians or they work for some foreign government. They criticize every and anything. Are those who put the deal together so stupid? The project was not costed? Is that what IMANI wants us to believe. ...

Shameful NPP IMANI, common sense doesn't tell you it I better to start small, correct loopholes and recapitalise as time progresses. What a shame? Is this the so-called think tank?
Every journey begins with a step. Why does IMMANI oppose reactivation of our factories? Is it because this would prevent NPP from coming to power. Selfish Cudjoe would shoe a little bit of patriotism.
What IMANI is saying make a lot of sense to me and I do not think they need any bashing. It is high time we listen to our own people. If it were a World bank report or for that matter any foreign organization we would be quot ...
