Nana Kufuor I do not know your level of education but whatever the case, how can a foreign firm help the govt of Ghana improve upon our image? What business, if it is true, has a foreign firm got to do with enhancing our image? Is it because, you and I are so incompetent to make ourselves look good in the eyes of the world? Come off it boy!
Of course we all know that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has virtually also collapsed after Mahama appointed a big fat oily hippo there to mismanage our foreign affairs. But that does not mean that foreigners should take over what many Ghanaians can effectively do even better.
What do they know about Ghana that will help them improve the image of our country?
As in many other cases, they will come in as foreign investors and hire Ghanaians to do their dirty work for them whilst they laze about at beaches and whites only nightclubs.
Not too long ago, this same idiotic, clueless, venal Mahama shamefully engaged American fire-fighters to come all the way to Ghana to ostensibly come and teach us a thing or two about the causes of fires at our markets.
Now even though every fool in Ghana knew the causes of those fires, Mahama apparently did not. So in spite of protestations to his intent, he ignored everybody's advice to the contrary and went ahead
At the end of the day, after the merry-go-round, the American fire-fighters presented us with a report which indicated just what everybody in Ghana already knew about those fires and the causes. The report has been shelved to date for not-so mysterious reasons.
Mahama himself is so so so diabolically inept and confused that nothing - and mark my word, nothing will ever save him from total ignominy in the coming weeks and months. He keeps on bumbling from one tragedy to another.
His performance has consistently degenerated from bad to worse since he assumed leadership of this country. Unfortunately for us the people, we have to suffer the pitiable consequences and woes of his abysmal incompetence. And all we do is to complain listlessly and plead democratic governance. Democratic governance my ass!
It is only a people with no aim or ambition in life who will allow themselves to be corralled into total submission and captivity by an alien system which only produces incompetent local leaders to lord it over ourselves.
Mahama is the kind of African leader that the Europeans and the Americans love to see in power in Africa. They love these clowns who will open even wider, their legs for the imperialist pirates, buccaneers and marauders to gang-bang to their sadistic hearts desires and delight.

Nana Kufuor is right guys. Franklin Cudjoe, in that picture, really looks like an angry and ignorant black male who has no clue about building a positive image. When Ghana messes up, Ghana cannot convince American law makers, banks, businesses, investors etc about that mess-up. Americans will listen to another American who puts a spin on the issue before they listen to any Ghanaian on that issue. Even though I don't like Mahama, the fact that he talked to Bloomberg news while in America, and now this lobbying news are 2 positives for Ghana.

Even when Dr. Nkrumah was lobbying in the US for them to help us build the Akosombo dam, Busia, JH Mensah, JB Danquah, Kuffour and co. were holding placards asking US not to help Ghana because we don't need it and it will project the image of Kwame Nrumah. There are valid points expressed by both Omanba and IMANI. The truth, though,is that our government is well within it's power in seeking PR help in sanitizing our country's financial image in the world for the positive flow of capital for our rapid development. Now whether such an issue requires a Parliamentary approval is another bowl of beans.

Whoever is looking after the money has to account for it properly. The fact that previous Governments have spent similar sums of money on lobbyists does not mean we are doing the right thing.
The question is : Has the money been well spent? My town still hasn't got any clean water. The gutters in our cities have become public toilets at night and sometimes in the daytime. Our hospitals require provision of adequate facilities. Our roads need repair. Our strength in Agriculture is dying from injection of capital ( for example tractors)to stimulate food production.

Would someone please tell the big thinkers and intellectuals at IMANI that the United States is the center of the universe by virtue of its immense financial and military muscle?...it wields a lot of influence and nations compete to get its attention which explains why American lobbyists based in the capital Washington and with huge access to the corridors of power are frequently used to lobby U.S. legislators.
Of course, it is expensive to engage the services of one the many lobbying firms in Washington. Some deliver and others don't. Those who don't are quickly discarded. JWI is obviously very influential and if it failed to bring home the bacon for Gambia, that does not mean it can't deliver for Ghana.
However, to blame the government which is struggling to right a limping economy for doing what any other nation in trouble would do is just plain petty.

A lot of countries around the globe have lobbying firms in USA on their payroll lobbying on their behalf to get a piece of the cake of the international businesses that are brokered in Washington DC and New York and there is nothing wrong for Ghana to contract with a lobbying firm if all it cost us a year is less than $2 million.
The problem here is the Mahama and his Ndc hypocrisy. When Npp had the Whittaker group lobbying on behalf of Ghana at less than $1 million a year, they criticized it as unnecessary expense so for them to do it at the blind side of Ghanaians show how hypocritical they are.
It is important for a country like Ghana to have a lobbying firm in USA and it is good this government has found out the hard way. Kufuor and Npp did not get the millennium funds just because we are the most beautiful people on earth. Enough said.

1) Who funds your entity - provide financial records
2) Have you ever consulted with foreign entities to promote your neoliberal agenda? Provide proof
3) Are you a front/advocate for NPP? Provide proof
4) When was the last time you made any money? How much taxes did you pay?
