How about the corruption within the government itself. The youth of today learn from the current adults governing the country. The youth don't go out building expensive houses that cost more than their income without showing where they get the money from. General Mensah should check all of that before making such a blanket statement against the youth who are just trying to survive in spite of the ineffective and dis-functional adults managing the country regardless of party affiliation.

The name of the journalist is Egbert not Englebert which is a school in airport residential area, Accra.
Rape cases are on the increase in Ghana. Judges and WAJU of the Ghana police force must do more to protect our society. Some people have become so notorious of raping and getting away with it. Many believe that it is a weapon capable of scarring individuals to the very soul and seize the least opportunity to use it; using it on the families of their political or business competitors. Not even those at the higher echelons of our society must get away with it. It is said that a man paid a student to rape the daughter of his business and political competitor.
The number of court houses and judges in Ghana are inadequate especially in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The population has ballooned and changes have to be made. The same can be said of the number of police officers and the number of penitentiaries. On a visit to a number of court houses around the country I found the Ghana flag and the Ghana Coat of Arms (Seal) absent. This must change.

You and Egbert....who is with the warped thinking?
The guy came up with a crisp thinking and you take him to task just because his rebuke of Mensah Nunoo brought up Rawlings' name.
Why does Mensah Nunoo think he has the moral and puritanical authourity to castigate Ghanaians about discipline when he himself doesn't realize he is even more undisciplined than the average Ghanaian?
You know your argument doesn't hold water. A Brigadier-General saluting and taking instructions from a FLT. LT. because he's a head of state.
As far as military discipline is concerned, that does not wash. A high ranking officer NEVER salutes a JUNIOR officer. NEVER!!
And Egbert was right in calling Mensah Nunoo up on it.
Mensah-Nunoo sold his soul to the devil by capitulating to a junior officer so that makes him an unworthy role model for our youth and definitely disqualifies him as an authority to give pep talks on discipline. Just like you, he's a hypocrite and should, therefore, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!
That's like saying even if a monkey has the power to force himself over a nation as head of state, the generals should be saluting him. That's a bunch of bull and you know it.
You are so full of it, you tribalistic and hyopocritical slut.

Odartey Wellington showed leadership when it mattered most and even died for the sake of truth, loyalty and discipline. He's my hero. Posterity will never forget him and he will remain a national hero for ever. Some newer generation will honor him posthumously, one way or the other. Do you know what people can do to change for the better in 10 years?
It's possible that he couldn't string 2 sentences together in English then, but how about now?
It is people like this young man that should serve as role models for some of our youth today. Years back he admitted that English language was a problem for him and has worked deligently to improve his lot. Today he's writing better englis language. He admitted his weakness and worked on it.
How many of our present political leaders have admitted that they are useless as far as governance of a nation goes? NONE.
Before a solution can be found for a problem, there should first be an admission that there is in fact, a problem. Have our clueless leaders, including the 'high & mighty' Mensah-Nunoo admitted that the economy is in shambles? Even though they are "trapezeing" all over the western world with a cup in hand begging for alms. Shameful lot.
Here is a quote for you:
"To know that we know what we know and to know that we do not know what we do not know, that's real knowledge" -NICOLAUS COPERNICUS
So you see, Fabille should be celebrated instead of being ripped apart because by your own account, he admitted that he couldn't put 2 english sentences together 10 years ago but has now been able to put a very powerful paragraph together that has grabbed you and a lot of people who hate the truth by the balls.
Here it is again and you tell me if what he wrote is not good English:
"I just read a story on Peacefmonline to the effect that Brigadier (Rtd) Nunoo- Mensah is berating Ghanaians as being indisciplined people."
"…My response to him is that the origins of indiscipline in Ghana was when he accepted to be General Officer Commanding the Ghana Armed Forces under the PNDC and ended up saluting and reporting to a Flight Lieutenant. We are prepared to take lessons in morality but certainly not from a brothel. Tweaaaaaaa."

Kojo T wrote:
“…What is wrong to salute the Head Of State?”
The point is not about saluting a head of state. In the army, the chain of command must be followed under military ordinance that, in turn, is supported by the constitution.
Complimentary or saluting rituals are strictly enforced by the military; in order of lower rank to higher rank by every soldier up to the rank of commander-in-chief or the head of state.
The point here is, the constitution requires that the head of state must be elected to that position in order to legitimately deserve that highest salute. So, when a soldier who hasn’t graduated through the ranks prematurely usurp power, and allocate to himself the title of head of state, it at once calls into question his legitimacy as head of state.
At the very least, in introduces indiscipline into the system. So, when someone who was a two-star general, condescends and accept a post from his junior who is well below his rank, replete with all the saluting requirements, it in itself makes one’s action an accomplice to indiscipline, and collapses the chain of command.
So, when such a person later turns around, and chastises a whole country as being undisciplined bunch of people, it precisely amounts to hypocrisy, and even border on insults.

Mmm, Egbert may be younger than Gen. (rtd). Nunoo, but obviously granted l am 60 + years, and Ghanaian, it is far from the truth that all our elders are truthful, disciplined or make sense. In Ghana we hide behind "elder-hood" to mess around others. There are many examples---an elder farts around people, and most times the elder will pick on a youngster as being responsible for fouling the air, elders teach kids to lie to visitors that they are not home, when they are home etc, so elder role modeling is a "so so" issue in Ghana.
Now specifically on Gen. Nunoo, he supported JJ after he overthrew a constitutional government, then later went into self imposed "exile" when the kitchen got too hot under JJ, only to later criticize JJ, then eventually jump into bed with the NDC. Stop, l cannot trust a person like that. He may have been an officer, but no gentleman. He has first to take the log out of his eyes before turning to the sticks in our eyes.
Yes indiscipline is a Ghana problem, nobody doubts that, except that Gen. (Rtd)Nunoo is not the one worthy of lecturing Ghanaians on that. There are many qualified retired army officers, and for that matter Brigadiers upwards, that l would have sat up to listen to lecture Ghanaians on discipline/indiscipline, the like of Gen (etd) Erskine, Gen (rtd) Sam, Gen (rtd) Obeng, Brig|(rtd) Emmanuel Okyere (seaman) as he is popularly called, the late Brig. Mensah-Brown (amongst the many), who could have given this nation more meritorious service than Gen. Nunoo. I think he needs some lessons from Gen (rtd) Arnold Quainoo, on how to keep quiet, if does not have anything to say for now.

So for somebody who can't recognize discipline even if it is biting him in the butt to lecture and castigate a whole nation of youths is uncalled for. Mensah Nunoo is an undisciplined person himself.
Just because he happens to be in Government doesn't make him a role model. This particular government is so corrupt and undisciplined. So that's where he should start his crusade on discipline. The ministers in this government have kids showing off their pornographic prowess for all to see in the social media without any fear or guilt. So he should talk to his fellow ministers to have good grip on their morally loose and decadent children.
These useless ministers have no right whatsoever to tell Ghanaians what to do until they have cleaned up themselves.

The root of indiscipline in the Ghanaian youth started in 1979 June ,when the flight officer became the Head of State and decided not to promote himself. Nunoo-Mensah should have compelled the flight officer to do just that instead of blaming the youth of today. I will say here that because of his fear of death ,he was asking his other officers who were prepared to fight to death to lay down their guns. GEN ODARTEY WELLINGTON DIED AT NIMA POLICE STATION AS A HERO. Nunoo -Mensah is not fit to be called a GENERAL.

Brig.Gen Nunoo Mensah (Rtd) brought crass indiscipline culture in Ghana when he accepted the office of Chief of Defence Staff of Ghana Armed Forces and brought his position dispute for saluting a lower rank officer in the rank of Flight Lieutenant, taking the countrys Armed Forces into a crass indicipline. The present indiciplie culture which includes corruption in the present government Nunoo Mensah serves started from the PNDC/NDC administration. Pre PNDC/NDC government Ghanaian society was a country to recorn with when it comes to discipline. I call the Gen. to render a total appology to Ghanaians rather than insult.

Mr. Faibille:
I reference the relevant paragraphs of the General's comments as follows:
"Brig. Gen. Joseph Nunoo-Mensah [Rtd] had earlier stated in an interview on Adom FM that Ghanaians are the cause of their own predicament and further described the entire populace as indisciplined.
To him, the youth of Ghana must rise against the indiscipline and corruption creeping into our social fabric because they are the future leaders."
Mr. Faibille, with ALL DUE RESPECT, I think you did your STATUS in SOCIETY a disservice with whatever it was you said.
Certainly, I would agree with you that the first paragraph was somewhat obnoxious and generally offensive.
But the second paragraph, to me, is an admonition that is very PROPER and TIMELY.
Yes, Three and a half Decades ago, The general saluted a Flight Lieutenant and called him 'BOSS', 'MASTER', or whatever. But is it NOT a LITTLE LATE in the DAY for you to suggest that, in view of that Role, he, and for that matter, then similarly situated leaders of Society including CIVIL and MILITARY players, have FOREVER lost the MORAL RIGHT to 'Join in the Fight Against Indiscipline?
Please, I am not sure if most Ghanaians share your sentiments regarding people coming from a 'brothel'. In fact, I don't think Brothel is a commonly used word in the Ghanaian lexicon. But, for what it is worth, the expectation of MOST Ghanaians now is HOW DO WE DEAL WITH THIS CANCKER CALLED INDICIPLINE. And if what it takes is for those from brothels to Speak where the 'DECENT and ELEVATED' of the day are silent, So be it. We want a SOLUTION. Where it comes from will be of MOMENT when that solution is at hand.
I thought once you 'disqualified' the general you would have offered what your LIKES and the UNSCATHED of Society would offer in terms of the NEEDED Admonishment and ask the YOUTH as FUTURE LEADERS to help deal with the ISSUES of INDISCIPLINE. Sadly, yours was only offered to 'CUT the GENERAL to SIZE'. Sir, as an Opinion Leader you have NOT Lived Up to your STATURE as your submission does NOT seem to help matters. In fact it has the Propensity to ENLARGE the problem.

Egbert is disappointing. Nunoo-Mensah has made a pertinent and a spot on observation with reference to the socially appalling situation in Ghana . In fact, if that is the way Egbert responds to serious observations in Ghana then I am afraid, he has nothing intelligent or valuable to offer Ghana. Irresponsible and insulting language to cheer the gallery, is not the fomular for the development and progress for Ghana. In fact it rather emphasises exactly what Nunoo- Mensah opined. Egbert is really indiscipline if he cannot argue intelligently without insults. Is his response indicative of our press and media houses?

Indiscipline as Egbert you rightly said began right here in Ghana when indiscipline baboon idiot drugged junior rapist officers led by a son of a prostitute Togolese with a Scottish father violently undermined the political authorities of the country by the gun and astonishingly senior officers led by this same knucklehead riffraff vulture looking unkept Nunoo Mensah of Ghana army decided to obey orders and commands from the junior officers and also shamelessly salute them with smiles.
The first thing these vultures did with their indiscipline selves was to destroy and harm the disciplinary fiber of our once envious educational system that disciplinary brought us up.
I highly suspect like his master junior officer, Rawlings, Nunoo Mensah is beginning to see cats as big cows and need urgent attention of his family to be sent to a psychiatric home before he hits the road naked.

Egbert, kudos, I like your response to the lamentations of this useless Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah. I wonder if he sees himself qualified to educate people about 'Discipline'.
The genesis of indiscipline in the Ghana Armed Forces from 1979 started with him, when he went round saluting a Flight Lieutenant. This turn of events will never happen in the Nigerian Armed Forces. Nunoo Mensah saw nothing wrong with that, and today he is lamenting on indiscipline in the society, knowing quite well that he was part of the problem, and indeed, the progenitor of the problem.
Only NDC will continue to harbour characters like this. The NPP did not see any value in him, and he quickly crossed to the NDC where he was welcomed, only to disgrace himself and party he belongs.
He is yesterdays man, and must be ignored accordingly. Indeed, he had no credibility as a disciplined. soldier

These idiots create a moral relativism where a crime is only a crime depending on who committed. Shitting in the gutters of Accra is not wrong and no one, who has a washroom in his house, has the right to state that it is according to this oaf. George Bush was an air cadet. If he believe Nunoo's concerns should be dismissed because he saluted rawlings at one point, then he should be dismissed for being a kantomanto lawyer. This the problem with Ghanaians. If you point out what ails them they'll come after you the messenger. But facts are facts Accra is filthy and indiscipline is rampant in Ghana. Should one be disqualified from pointing that out? Constituitionally, any elected president of the USA is the automatic Commander-in-Chief of the US military so he's entitled to the salutes from all military personnel including the top generals.
George Bush was not a coup maker who forced himself on Americans.
There's a difference between the two cases you are trying to compare.
Mensah-Nunoo wasn't just a 'messenger'. He was an integral part of the machinery that systematically and consciously dismantled a well-disciplined nation.
So why is he now complaining if what he helped popularize has come home to roost?
And again, why wouldn't EGBERT resort to cheekiness and cynicism to put his case across?
Accra and most cities are choked with filth. That's a given, but who do you think should be held accountable for the total breakdown of a system which until just about a year a half ago was working, even if not perfectly?
If there are systems in place to keep the cities neat, the citizens will definitely use them. So it is the government's responsibilty to provide such services. Mensah-Nunoo is part of this failed government so he shouldn't go about 'throwing stones' when he's basically 'living in a glass house'.
No member of the present government has that moral authourity.
Do you catch my drift, Captain?

Once Jerry staged the coup, he was the head of the ruling government and also the defacto 'commander in chief' of the armed forces. Therefore Nunoo Mensah had to salute him. He was Nunoo's boss. It is the same for Kings and dictators. I remember Jerry's time, Ghanaians were more disciplined than this. The fear of getting beaten or having your head shaved with broken bottles caused a lot of fear and forced Ghanaians to behave better. So he couldn't have been responsible for the rot. This rot started with Kuffour is regime. When Ghanaians stated believing that democracy means, I can shit every where, pollute everywhere and I can bribe my way through anything. I remember when the Kwahus started coming to accra and started living in containers. The started clogging Tema station and Timber Market. Fast forward 30 years, the whole city now looks like Timber Market. Jerry didn't cause this. I remember when the soldiers will drop coins for ladies with short skirts to try and pick them without exposing their 'nyash'. I remember when neighbourhood civil defence committee organized to clean refuse and gutters in their communities. That was Jerry's time. If anything he re-introduce discipline. Hoarders and taxi drivers were punished for jacking up prices. The new found democracy under Kuffour started this indiscipline.

Whether through coup d'état or through the ballot box, senior officers may be forced to salute a junior officer. You are just dense or thick in the head. Sgt Doe, Mobutu were all saluted by senior officers of their country's army once they took power. It is not unique to Nunoo mensah and therefore not a proof of his character. You idiots have fealty to Akuffo-Addo, who is viewed as a drug user and womanizer in some circles. Is that a proof of your character? Perhaps it is. One thing you should learn about dictators who become 'de-facto' commanders-in-chief of the armed forces after a military coup never leave anything better in their wake. They become so corrupt themselves that they turn out worse than the people they used as an excuse to force themselves into power in the first place, leaving their countries messier than before.
Look at MOBUTU of former Zaire. 'Emperor' Bokassa of the CAR, just to mention a few. Wars and political instabilities had reigned supreme in those lands. Ghana has so far been able to avoid that but we have not been able to shake the indiscipline which is part and parcel of the aftermath of an indisciplined military dictatorships headed by Junior Officers. Liberia has never been the same since, after John Doe. Very ironic for him to have had such a name. You know what a "John Doe" means in North America, don't you? An 'unknown'... a 'nobody' -lol.
Like I was saying, Ghana luckily just inherited the indiscipline part as a result of an indisciplined military government which had carried over to the present day but civil war/s is/are not far behind if we are not careful.

I'm relishing the young man's response. Children do what they see their parents and elders do. The same can be said of leaders and those they lead. Discipline and indiscipline generally have a trickle down effect. When societal indiscipline becomes a bottom-up movement or an upward mobility then all those at the top have outlived their usefulness and must be replaced one way or the other. Of what use is salt when it has lost its taste or of what use is light when it can't penetrate darkness?
The moral degeneration in society can all be traced to the door step of the elderly, supposedly the leaders of society. What is that woman teaching her son or daughter when she's instructing him/her to say to the person behind the door : "My mother is not home?" Lying, cheating, insincerity, falsification and deception. This is how deviant behavior and crime have always been passed on from adults/leaders to children/younger generation. The apple never falls far from the parent tree or in other words we reproduce ourselves.
If the lid can no longer be kept on the sector minister's corruption what would he expect of his subordinates? Simply walk in the same steps, not deviating or missing a step. After all whatever is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. If the president himself is perceived to be corrupt and surrounds himself with his kind of people and not even one of them is ever interdicted or openly chastized what message is being relayed to the ordinary folks? Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah must rather publicly reprimand the older generation, political/military/civic/religious/traditional/business leadership for their bad example that has brought the nation on its knees, apologize to the nation, especially the younger generation, then he is welcome to encourage the younger generation , the future leaders to prepare themselves to become better stewards of the trust the public will someday repose in them.

The village hypocracy exhibited by Egbert is clear to any rational wise Ghanaian who is honestly interested in the well being of our dear nation and her people, who have been cut by the evil spirit of indiscipline.
Why is that foolish and village oriented mindset Egbert trying to doubt of the statement of the General Nunoo Mensah and change him foolishly?. Are Ghanaians discipline? Ofcourse No. Egbert, you are really a foolish educated buffoon who also is using his law work to make himself think he is better than Nunoo Mensah.
You, Egbert and other guys of similar low mentality have nothig in real sense to offer Ghana because you do not have the power to talk to the Ghanaian population who have become so stubborn that they need a powerful mouth to straighten their foolish and indiscipline behavior which have become unbearable in Ghana today.
What has Egbert said about the indiscipline taking place in Ghana. When has he come out to talk against this demonic behavior that had held our nation hostage.
Politician and pastors have been made to keep quiet and remain looking on without any hard words to wake the indiscipline population up and change their behavior to make our nation be loved by God.
And even if any minister of te Bible open his mouth to speak against the evil indiscipline of the people, he will quickly be lambasted and thrown away, just like the way Egbert is foolishly behaving towards General Nunoo Mensah. Evil spirited people feel bad when indiscipline is condemned.
In short Egbert you are a real village man of no use to the nation. Your only interest is to practice law and make your money, and talk loose without being rational.

So the old farmer decided his son was of age. The brothel in town had a tradition that a young man could have his first evening with a lady for only $1. So the farmer gives his boy $1 and sends him to town.
Well the boy makes it to the brothel. He gets welcomed by a talented older lady, pays his dollar and figures out what to do right quick. So impressed was the lady that she said, "boy, tell you what. You do that again and I'll give you your money back!" Considering it was a win-win scenario, the boy got right back to work.
After two rounds and a load of confidence, the kid wasn't ready to head back. In fact, word of the young man's talent had the whole house in an uproar. He went looking for more fun to have, walking in on a gorgeous young lady who was about to entertain an old prospector.
The girl was about to ditch the prospector for the boy, but the older man wasn't having it. "Look kid," he said taking him aside. "I got a crate of ducks out there. If you leave this girl to me, you can take a duck back to your farm."
So a few hours after setting off, the old farmer sees his son coming back with a duck under his arm. "Boy!" shouts the dad, "I thought I told you to go get yerself laid, not go poultry shoppin'!"
The boy replies. "Relax, Pop, I got a fuck for a buck, a buck for a fuck and a duck for ducking a fuck!"

Your argument was defeated before it even got off the ground.
" I will prefer serving Under him on the battle front" - You claimed the British Colonel said.
Although you said this NCO was later promoted to the officer rank of a Captain. That's no big deal because it happens all the time except these days, no matter how good an NCO is, he CANNOT be given an officer rank until he or she has gone through the officer Cadet Training or Course at Teshie Military Academy or Sandhurst in Britain as the case may be.
In anycase, you went off the mark in your comments because there's no where in your piece that you mentioned that this Colonel saluted the "Captain", let alone saluting him when he was an NCO.
What I gathered from your piece was that this Colonel had an admiration for this NCO because of his abilities and to tell you the truth that is also very common because there are very good NCO's out there in the military but the crux of the matter is a higher ranked officer will never salute a lower ranked officer no matter the admiration on the part of the higher ranked officer because of the 'CHAIN OF COMMAND' mentality of the military. They hold that mentality rigidly....no 'buts' or 'ifs'. Saluting a junior officer breeds indiscipline. Plain and simple.
