Please visit the ministries in Accra, and for every Minister or Director and Manager, there is assigned at least one driver. These able-bodied men sit around the parking lots, just chit chatting, watching TV or listening to ignorant Twi radio and TV, all day. What a lazy culture! Halh the men in Accra want to drive taxis or Trotros. There are more taxis than pedestrians, and it i so stupefying how one gets blinded by all the Red and Yellow. Everything in Ghana is either Red Clay, Red Gold Green or dark faces. When will God show his/her face and admit to us that he failed us long long ago!
The only drivers we need in Ghana are those qualified to drive machinery for productive work, municipal buses, government services vehicles and private utility trucks. Any other driver besides a private salon owner is a lazy ass person PERIOD!

I will not be misled by (mis)educated illiterates such as Nii Moi Thompson. This man who refers to himself as a doctorate holder, says he "STUMBLED", upon some information that says that the GES hires 44,000 drivers.
Without going beyond this information which he 'stumbled' upon, this PHD holder proceeds, without scientifically analyzing the veracity of it, the context of it, the need for it or whether this figure, if true and current, was excessive for the particular purposes for which the drivers had been hired or not.
Like a Black Stars fanatic from Nima, gone berserk about our failure to win a medal at the recent World Cup, Nii Moi overlooks the need to rationalize but instead charges at the GES to dramatizes the information which he 'stumbled' upon to sensationalize an issue which he knows very little or next to nothing about.
Nii Moi Thompson is no better than those penny-half-penny experts from the World Bank and the IMF who together, have collaborated over the past five decades to drive our economy into an abject condition of gloom and failure. In fact he Nii Moi seems to have this same negative condescending and detached attitude just like westerners do, about anything Ghanaian or African. Nii Moi's crime however is more serious because he is just one of us - just another black-assed nigger - well, except for that spurious and annoying false American accent which he employs to make himself visible.
They (Nii Moi and the imperialist institutions) model and pattern our peculiar level of retarded development upon those other economies and societies who have made phenomenal developmental advances based upon the evils of slavery and colonialism. We, fortunately, have not had the luxury or the depraved mind of applying horrendous crimes against humanity to achieve our exclusive ends. We are going about our development the long and hard way and nobody should expect that we will not face difficulties and hurdles.

because of the likes of Ahetso Tsega in public service, holding the office of a director too, who sees nothing wrong with engaging excess labour in an economy that cannot manage itself for want of direction from government's expenditure on its wage bills, Ghana's economic problems is not going to go away soon. Every Public officer wants to be driven by a chauffeurs who are not even respected on their job. This isn't so in rich countries like in Europe and elsewhere, apart from ministers of state, directors and other officers handle their own transport matters to and from work. Some even use bicycle to work.We need to give away some privileges if we are serious at solving the state of our economic nightmares. For political reasons, we are afraid to audit labour as many unproductive manpower could be affected. If rich countries whom we look up to had not been firm at managing such issues, i guess computers and robots of our time would have found no use today, and they would still have been where we are now to date.

to be fair to GES, there are about a 1000 schools under them they supervise. each of these schools have an average of 3 drivers = 3,000.
assuming all GES regional and district offices have cars with a maximum of 5 drivers each that = 5*300districts plus regional offices= 1500. in all I am looking at not more than 4500 drivers. 44,000 drivers across country is a hard sell to me...inflation of 10X is clear sign of ghosts on the roll. we need to find them all. we don't need more than 5000 drivers for 300,000 teachers.

How many Economic Advisors in addition to the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, it's deputies, together with that ministry that Fifi Kwetey headed prior to being moved to the Agric ministry, as well as at the Bank of Ghana? What is the quantum of remuneration, allowances, per diems, bribes, that these NDC hangers-on are taking as compared to the 44,000 drivers at the Education service? The TUC and indeed, Ghanaians have asked for the de-segregation of the wage bill between the article 71 office holders and the rest of labour so we can put the "cutting" in the right context. Maybe Dr. Nii Moi Thompson would do us the honours and make this available to enrich the discourse.

Much as we expect some level of beaurecracy, Ghana seems trive on it. How do we eliminate assessive beaurecracy. The idea behind the introduction of decentralization was to transfer political, social and administrative authority to the lower levels of our society. This way we would have to cut our coats according to our purse. This process has failed and we continue to support a huge wage bill for fruad and corruption. We do not need teachers employed at national level. This should be a district issue. Districts will employ what they need and can afford not what the GES wants. When we decentralize education at the bacis and secondry levels the GES would be redundant. There too many institutions that need to be decentralize. This would eliminate waste, check corruption, free more resources and make the country more investor friendly. There is too many institutions/bodies Ghana have to do away with.
