When we lived in Koforidua in the 70s our bungalow was very close to the Residency. In fact, I could see residents of the house where the Head of State stays (when he is in the region) from my room. When Major General, Odartey-Wellington visited the region on official duties I could see his security outside and people inside the house from my room if the curtains were drawn. By the time we left K'dua in late 1978, the bungalow had been incorporated into the Residency when a huge wall was built across the whole Residency.

He hardly used a police motorcade unless it was on official function. He was not afraid of anything because he was not greedy and stealing.
