Tony Aidoo justifies need to abandon NPP projects

The Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Presidency has justified his calls for the Mills administration to abandon some projects started by the Kufuor administration.

Dr. Tony Aidoo first made the suggestion following reports that an abandoned affordable housing project at Asokore-Mampong in the Ashanti Region has been taken over by squatters.

Government says it has started the process to secure about a hundred million Ghana cedis needed to complete the project.

“The projects were ill-conceived, and therefore the cost of executing these projects is not in our budget, nor do they fit into our scheme of things so far as our electoral promises are concerned" Dr Tony Aidoo told Joy News.

He says continuing such projects started by the previous administration is making it difficult to fulfill some campaign promises of the Mills administration.

“On the other hand, we also have our electoral promises to the people of this country to fulfill...Sadly the resources earmarked to fulfill our electoral promises are the one we are using to complete haphazardly-thought of projects that were not properly design.”

Dr. Tony Aidoo says his suggestion is also based on criticisms by the opposition NPP that the Mills administration lacks creativity to initiate its own projects.

Their wickedness is so deep in their subconscious and conscious that its fully geared to destroy the Akan economy so anything they think will benefit the Akans will be sabotaged , ignored or thrown out . we have no choice but to regroup and do as much as possible without involving the govt , ndc or these pepeni/ayigbe mafia criminals . Corruption , discrimination based on their tribalism , hegemony and chauvinism has eroded all unity within the nation .Akans all over the place are waking up , with the BA chiefs voicing their reservations about GMO , western region , central region are protesting under their breaths , our dear Ashantis have made their position clear so we expect the political parties with understanding of the Akan plight like the cpp , ppp and npp to stand up or be forgotten. We can not wait another 2 years as by then the damage will be cemented beyond repair . Eyered is now everywhere and we reluctantly realize only a bloody revolution can set our people free . Its not that they are unprepared of do not know what to do to get Ghana back on track but the hate in their hearts make them continue on this path of destruction of the Akans . they are doing EXACTLY what they planned to do so dont be fooled

The government would not come out and tell you this but that is the reason why they would not be completed.
If you are in doubt ask VETERAN ALHAJI MALIK KWEKU BAAKO to investigate and submit a report.

We have been complaining about this case since 2009, when Late Atta-Mills decided to go in for STX-Korea loan to "build houses for Security and Police" instead of completing these Housing projects. NDC claimed NPP and their supporters were against Police getting decent, affordable houses, and thus against the STX-Korea deal.

There are other projects left unfinished by NPP, which have been deliberately left to rot by our NDC Governments.

After Mills, and Mahama abandoned the so called "Sofo-Line" interchange in Kumasi, Mahama brazenly goes to claim "even if he tarred the streets of Kumasi with GOLD,..." they would not appreciate it.

Anything started by NPP is not worth finishing by NDC. In fact, we were lucky Bui Dam was continued. But I suspect that if Asiedu Nketia had not personally made millions of profit for himself, that project would also have been neglected.

Everyone talks now about inclusive and sustainable economic growth for all the countries on the African continent. Government should practice what it preaches. SOLUTION: If Government alone cannot complete these projects, It should seriously consider Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement to do so.
