The problem is that we have a government that can't be trusted to keep its word on any payment.

Well, if I understand the minister well, he has suspended airlifting of money. This means he will decide to do it again any time when needed. When can we ghanaians learn from our mistakes? Why doesn't he or parliament bring a law to prevent money airlifting in general by ministers. Just imagine Energy minister or Finance Minister decides to do the same, who will hear from it? So if the whole episode has been found wanting, why suspend the act and praise the actor? Issues must be tackled from the source. Mr Minister, does it not occur to you that if not checked, the actor will only live to do something worse next time?
And you are starting your reign with another committee? Is it also not going to end up as another smokescreen? When are you people going to stop wasting our scarce resources on the formation of these unnecessary committees? What became of the findings of similar committees, such as the Mill's aircraft purchase committee, or that one whose report was passed to and fro PV Obeng to look into until he suddenly hit the road?
I hope unlike the Victoria Hammah Gossip Committee, this new wasteful committee you have set up will take evidence from all the important persons who were connected with the saga. Otherwise you are also digging your own grave - oh, I have forgotten Mahama ordered nine graves!

I'm not even sure whether it is worth wasting time assessing Ayariga's competence or otherwise. He sounds like someone who lacks practical experience.
In better countries, Ministers are advised by competent civil servants in the relevant departments, and this often ensures that Ministers don't come out with silly comments dressed as policies. Either Ayariga and co are not provided with useful advice or they are just boneheaded.
The terms of reference for his 3 member committee includes a statement along these lines '..to identify what might have caused the exit of the black stars from the world cup.' The only way to exit the world cup finals competition is to not reach the final match itself. In other words the committee, led by an Appeal court judge, is required to speculate about why Ghana didn't reach the world cup final. Why is it a failure if we don't get to the world cup final? The cheek of it - we failed to get to the African Nations Cup final match and somehow there was no judge-led committee to investigate anything.
60 people are supposed to meet and discuss wide ranging issues and come up with recommendations in 2 days. A whole civil service and government machinery couldn't arrange a simple mechanism to pay players' monies to them in how many months?
Ayariga and his mates are Ghanaians who were educated in Ghana and looked up to their fathers and mothers and uncles and aunties etc who are Ghanaians. Ayariga's role models are Ghanaians. So I think that the rot in the government is because they are Ghanaians and nothing more. It is the same all over the country.
