Once the government paid the players their appearance fees, the money no longer belonged to the government. The tax the players paid on their earnings has nothing to do with the government of Ghana. After all, the players insisted to be paid in cash whilst still on a foreign soil therefore they must bear the consequence. Most of them are international players and know the tax implications on earnings whether at home or abroad.

Even if it is true, as you say, Fifa is responsible for paying the tax on appearance fees, the Brazilians will collect that which will be about appearance fee tax, separate from cash outflow tax at the point of exit.

I appeal to the minority in parliament to demand the firing of the GFA executives who were responsible for Ghana's participation in Brazil, especially Nyantakyi who has brought great shame and ridicule on Ghana with his participation in the match-fixing sting operation. Mr Nyantakyi has demonstrated to the whole world - except the President of Ghana - that he has neither patriotism nor morality.
