And the second most unpardonable failure is not waiting to take this dumb decision he made this morning after the decisive match between PORTUGAL and GHANA. Appiah could have waited after today's match but his ego had the worst part of him.
This murky affair of players bonus being delayed and alleged match fixing by officals of GFA opens the floodgates for conspiracy theorists.

In addition to an own goal, the Stars also gave a very cheap goal to Ronaldo. Mathematically, it was a daunting task for Portugal to have qualified (beating Ghana by at least, 4 goals difference). The signs were on the wall when I heard and read about the confusion in Ghana's camp (the refusal by players to leave for the Brasilia and to train for non-payment of appearance fees, Ghana government flying $3 million cast to pay players, Muntari fighting GFA/Ghana official and PKB challenging the coach, etc.). These are not signs of good omen, so I knew that a divided team could not beat the Portuguese who were determined to salvage their reputation or even beat Ghana massively to qualify at the expense of either USA or Germany.
Ghana goes out as the weakest team in the group of death. The consolation is that mighty Spain and Italy are also out. Goodbye until 2018.

The mismanagement team of the Black Stars comprising NDC gurus lived up to expectation, because no right thinking person in Ghana expected then to perform any better.
This useless government has politicized everything in Ghana,to the extent that in certain part of the country you need to produce NDC identity card before you access a public toilet. This is disgraceful.
John Mahama is not a performing president, and this reflected in the performance of the Black Stars in the 2014 World Cup. This is the worst in the history of the Black Stars.

Surely, all things being equal, we would expect the Players to concentrate on the game, and not worry about other distractions in the GFA or the Ministry of Sports.
However, pragmatically, certain stories with even the least credibility could affect the morale and level of commitment the Players bring to the game.
Now, we are trailing by one goal to nothing from an own goal by John Boye. There is a certain state of heightened concern among some of the Players, causing them to be a little jittery with tension.
If your admonition were to be held by all parties involved in Ghana's participation in the tournament, then Coach Kwasi Appiah should have deferred any disciplinary action against Muntari and Kevin till after this last Match.
It is most unfortunate that Ghanaians hardly trust and believe in their own kind, and often deny the same the due respect needed to oil any functioning setup.
If we lose this game, we would be out of the tournament and come home broken, torn up with conflicts among ourselves and charges of Corruption by our Officials.
It is about time some real patriotic pride took over our thinking to allow us to do things right for Ghana's Growth.

Mr Berko, I have read many of your submissions that I must say usually emanate from your ingrained patriotism for our dear country Ghana. However, you have to be realistic about the situation at hand. To me, we are dealing with the proverbial "chicken and egg" but what is really common to both, is money. None of us will deny the fact that our officials are very corrupt and to a large extent incompetent at their assigned duties. You tell me how the number of officials sent to this tournament, far outnumber the players whose tournament they are attending. Inasmuch as I blame the officials, most of the players are equally culpable. If you refuse to pay up and these officials choose not to select you for the team, fine, stay principled and let those officials bear the wrath of Ghanaians. The other side of the truth is that players plying their trade in some back water league and hardly getting first team selection, have to pay to play in Ghana's international matches in order to maintain their working visa. So my brother, that is where corruption has become a two-way street and not one-way as we all perceive it to be.
We are all hurt by the team's non-performance, but by all means, I implore all Ghanaians to desist from knee-jerk reactions and allow cool heads to prevail. Akwasi Appiah has done relatively well and we hope he can improve from here, much to the benefit of us all.
Ghanaians, we need to get back to the drawing table and strategize for the long term. I will be the first to say that we pretty much shot ourselves in the foot during this tournament, due to lapses in concentration when it mattered most.

Germany can qualify with U.S. even in a goal-less draw. So ask yourself, "Why should the Germans kill themselves to score U.S. many goals to allow Ghana or Portugal to advance instead of USA? This is a total disgrace and the GFA and Sports Ministry should be totally be ashamed including the current Government. This has nothing to do with politics but it tells you the sports minister and his assistant are completely incompetent. They get the glory when Ghana wins and they should take the heat for it.

Ghana's government has sent more than $3m (£1.8m) in cash by plane to Brazil to pay the appearance fees owed to the national team at the World Cup.
Deputy Sports Minister Joseph Yamin told Ghanaian radio station Citi FM the players "insisted" on cash payments.
He added: "The government had to mobilise the money and a chartered flight to Brazil."
Ghana must beat Portugal in their final Group G game on Thursday to have any chance of staying at the World Cup.
And even a win would not be enough to put Ghana through to the knockout phase if United States and Germany were to draw their match.
Earlier this week, there were rumours the Black Stars could boycott training ahead of the game if their demand for payment was not met.
As unrest grew in the Ghana camp, Ghana President John Dramani Mahama personally assured the players they would receive their money.
A statement from the Ghana Football Association said: "The government is pre-financing the payment of the Black Stars appearance fees, which will be reimbursed when Fifa's prize money for Ghana's participation in the World Cup is paid."

It added Boateng had used "vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah" and said Muntari was guilty of an "unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member".
The news comes just hours before Ghana take on Portugal on Thursday.
The Black Stars still have an outside chance of qualifying for the knockout phase of the tournament.

The Ghana FA statement said the incident involving AC Milan's Muntari took place on Tuesday and named Moses Armah, a member of the team management, as the man said to have been assaulted by the 29-year-old.
And Schalke 04 player Boateng, 27, was said by the Ghana FA to have shown "no remorse for his actions", which took place during the team's training session in Maceio on Tuesday.
Ghana's World Cup campaign has already been blighted by a dispute over players' appearance fees.
On Wednesday, the national government sent in excess of $3m (£1.8m) in a chartered plane to Brazil to pay the squad following their threat to boycott their final group match against Portugal if they did not receive their money.
To reach the last 16, Ghana need to beat Portugal and hope there is a winner of the match between Germany and United States - although the Black Stars would also need to overtake their rivals' superior goal difference.

The match against Portugal was long lost psychologically even before kick-off. Events leading to the match portrayed a mentality whose prayer God must not answer; a mentality that does not deserve luck. No doubt the first goal conceded was an unlucky goal.
First there was the demand for 100,000 dollars cash by persons whose weekly earnings could be more than or equal to this amount. So $3 million had to be airlifted from Ghana to the team to share and this made the country a laughingstock in the eyes of the world. It is surprising how a group of individuals can be driven by their parochial interest that they are unaware they are disgracing their country. Then followed the indiscipline which went so bad that, two key players had to be ejected from camp - it must be very bad because the authorities earlier denied there was trouble in camp.
All these showed that the team was focusing on the wrong things and not the crucial match. The result (ie 2-1 against us is just.)
It is obvious the coach Akwasi Appiah is not a strong personality to effectively control the team. We don't need a coach who will be weeping and having sleepless nights in the face of player indiscipline but a coach that can ensure that there is discipline in the team.
We definitely have a good team but they cannot achieve anything by indiscipline.

Appiah failed to build on our qualification for the World Cup. He failed to improve teamwork and defending, and failed to sharpen our attack. The players allowed themselves to be distracted by rows over money, and were pretty selfish on the pitch - players apparently played for their own personal interests rather than the team.
The GFA should not have made vain promises which would be hard to fulfill.
