In any other democracy, a president who has so mismanaged an insurgency would even be impeached or thrown out by his own party but not in Nigeria..The only way out now is for the military to remove him, so he is making sure the military is under equipped...It is Jonathan holding Nigeria hostage not Boko Haram.....A coup in Nigeria this time will bring dancing in the streets

Aning is never a hypocrite. The way we deal with emerging probems in Africa especially in Ghana and Nigeria needs to be looked at critically. We wait for the worse to happen before we tackle it. Our lackadaisical attitude towards solving problems by especially those in higher authorities leaves much to be desired. A stitch in time they say, saves nine. And a word to the wise is enough

Boko Haram has its genesis hundreds of years ago from Othman Dan Fodio's Fulani Jihad in the 1830s when they came from the desert and Sahel north and terrorised southern Nigeria. During Shagari, Buhari and Idiagbon era, we had the followers of the Maitsatsane of the Fulfulde or Fulani of Maiduguri terrorising Nigerians. Also we had the ex-generals who are filthily and stinky rich building their own autochthones or indigenous enclaves like the Omo Egbe Oduduwa of Awolowo in Yorubaland. All those indigenisation and parochial sentiments did not inspire patriotism in Nigeria, but rather insularity, particularism, myopia, and irredentism. Nigeria's problems are deep-seated and should not be superficially addressed.

You must be joking! Boko-Haram is using sophisticated RPG`s, M16 assault rifles, G3`s and even Ground to air missiles! Do you think Boko-Haram are some angry muslim Villagers on a rampage?? Boko-Haram is a Terrorist Group, sponsored and equiped by Iran to disrupt the Nigerian Oil exports and to destabilize the sub-region. Do you think Ghana is imune to this, looking at Ghanas increasing oil production. Keep sleeping-the alarm-clock will shock you!

Again, with regards to the silence of islamic leaders on the boko haram issue, I remember the national chief imam was very angry and vocal when the American ambassador together with the local representative of google visited him to calm them in the wake of the release of the movie 'innocence of muslims' by an Egyptian based in the US. He insisted google had to blame for allowing its platform to be used to denigrate their prophet and religion, the same platform muslims use to spread hate and blasphemy against other faiths. It seem to me, the bullies that they are, believe they are more human and sensitive to pain than any other person.
And on the issue of boko haram being allowed by the Nigerian gov't enough time to be firmly rooted, I think Kwesi Anim is completely ignorant of muslims. When boko haram first started, it had a massive support from Nigerian muslims because their attacks were verbal hate speeches against christianity and other minority islamic denominations. Even when it started its physical attacks on churches, some muslims in Nigeria and all over the world believed in their hearts that it served the victims right because muslims have always claimed and continue to insist that they rather are the victims. They believe everybody is against them and any attack of the West against any muslim country, irrespective of what and who might have caused the attack in the first place, is an attack by Christians on muslims and for which reason Christians have to pay a price.
It would therefore had been interpreted to mean an attack on their religion if the Nigerian gov't had acted earlier. The current support of muslims against boko haram is largely because they have also become victims of boko haram. Islam is a security threat to every nation and Ghana must come out with laws barring hate speeches by religious leaders. It is these hate speeches by islamic preachers that often metamorphosize into physical attacks. I was shocked at the level of hateful atmosphere against christians in an outdoor islamic program I attended a few years ago at Damango. My hate for the religion of peace began at that very moment and there is nothing that can cure it.

Any security expert worth his salt can easily see how This group of very evil men started. These guys are a bunch of hardened criminals, armed robbers rapists jail-birds and some religious fanatics. There are some failed politicians ,rogue military and police officers disgruntled people, and even some religious leaders. That is the reason why all armed robbers should be classified as terrorists. And all terrorists found guilty should never see the light of day again period.
