The Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling for an amendment to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Act, PNDC Law 160 to encourage competition in the development and management of ports in the country.
The Chairman of the Chamber, Ato Van-Ess made the call at a forum with the media in Takoradi.
He said there is the need for the current Act to be amended to make the GPHA the sole regulator of ports and Habours in Ghana before parliament ratifies the Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the Atuabo Free Port in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
