I have been traveling on some of these buses to and from the North and is shocked by what I've observed.
Some buses had their seats torn; one bus had its ceiling so dirty that I thought it would have been better if they were scrapped; another had broken driving mirrors and another spoiled and left us in the middle of the road. Some of us had to find our own ways out because the bus they promised coming to pick us from Tamale never came at the time we were leaving.
Then, Ikept wondering if Management could not innovative enough to acquire air-conditioned buses to ply the North-South route and charge economic fares for their services. This is because of the drastic temperature change in the weathers of the two regions.
In all these I wondered how much it would cost to took fix these challenges.
Then, again, was indiscipline on part of drivers and their conductors. Overloading with passengers standing when they should not overload nor rails provided to enable passengers stand. Further, passengers were allowed to sit on the engine compartment when it was boldly written that it is dangerous for passengers to do so. Foul-mouthing and intolerance from some drivers and conductors were also observed.
Fortunately, what I did not observe was drivers and conductors pocketing passengers' fares.
But the broader picture of neglect of the buses and indiscipline on the part of workers of the company are paramount and must be checked before any amount is advanced to the company.

How can you ask to be forgiven 58 mil but expecting a delivery of 230 buses at the end of year...most people in ghana think siphoning little monies from your job is cool n is the only way to get ahead...this is impeded in the ghanaian DNA. This is what people in the diaspora have a problem with. What happened hard work and dedication. On my recent visit to ghana I met a girl who goes to church everyday of the week..after talking for a week she wanted me to give her $4000 to lease her a store...I told my friend everybody in gh is crazy...I just don't get thier thinking...why would I give u 4gs while women buy me stuff where I live....4gs in one week n this girl go to church every day of the week...so if u go to church everyday n you think siphoning little monies from ur job is okay then why even go to church. If everyone at your job does that the company is gon collapse n u gon end up with no job...it's funny how someone doing deals st thier job will go n see a preacher to help the deal go through. U know the preacher gets his share...don't know what God these people worship but the book says seek ye first the kingdom of heaven n....WOW. Too many snakes that's why we need to get in the mood of firing to get people to take thier job serious...if some one is late 3 times sack him. If they don't do thier job right sack them...this is the only way in my opinion which will change the mindset of lazy people...trust me u wouldn't wanna work for me.

For refusing to take part in a national, non-partisan forum to brainstorm for solutions to the effects of the global economic meltdown on Ghana is the worst form of lack of patriotism. I therefore completely withdraw my sympathies for the NPP.

Do you understand 'global economic meltdown'? Please don't portray your ignorance on the subject. When the developed economies were tumbling down, 'emerging' and 'frontier' economies were the hope of international investors. The NPP had brought stability to the economy. That is why the NDC could go borrowing money to unprecedented levels. But wait, the IMF and rating agencies are issuing warnings to the NDC, just as they did throughout the 80s and the 90s. Very soon, the cup will be full and technically, no institution will lend to Ghana any more. Then NPP will step in and ask to go HIPC. For now the Nation Destroyers Congress(NDC)will destroy all that which the NPP put in place in 8 years.

Sgt. Fiadzoe,
Sometimes I read a good opinionage from you. On this issue your lack of political knowlegde is demonstrated.
What was the Economical forum for if the people coming together are the same people running the government; and the likes of Akua Donkor's knowledge. The forum was a waste of time and public funds. It was boys and girls coming together to crack some good free meals and wine.
Such Economical forum should be extended to invite Ghanaians in diaspora to brain storm from within neutral entity.
NPP (Kuffuo) started to bring Ghanaians in diaspora aboard into national building. NPP started the implementation of Dual Citizenship. NDC took over and killed all the prospects to tap into the drained brains. There are many Ghanaians with broad knowledge to help build our national economy. Yet, NDC cannot see through the benifit to welcome Ghanaians in diaspora along. NDC is simply a failed government. During JJ leadership Ghana's economy was a stand still for most part and chased our tails for good 18 years. NPP took less 8 years to turn things around. Then again NDC took over and down raided all that prospects established by NPP. People cannot see through this simply fact. NDC is just wasteful government.

A visit to the Abrepo Junction station at Kumasi will tell you the real story of why MMT is not making money. Whilst passengers troop to the station to board buses, the workers (drivers, ticket issuers) close the door to willing passengers who wish to patronise the services of MMT even though the seats in these buses are nothing to write home about; size and comfort wise citing lateness. When gets to similar boarding venues of the MMT, it is as if there is no accountability of thei workforce to any one whatsoever. Here they run the service as if it was none of thier business and now turning to same taxpayer their workforce insults to bail them out.
Private companies run 24/7 shouting hoarse and cajolling unwilling passengers to meet their deadlines
Please MMT, awards are given for RESULTS and NOT EFFORTS. Be smart and stay competitive in the game, we shall not dole out any more moneys for unneccassry comfort of your staff whilst the rest of the country suffers!!!
