It appears this minister of trade had been given a "large envelop" to clamp down on local rice importers whose small capital can only allow them to import on land by the big foreign companies who can afford to import on the seas port and evade taxes through the bonded warehouse system. i have been at the borders several times and seen the employment their activities gives to the youth and the councils, the reason that they do not pay tax is a blantant lie, Well the ivorian Government retaliated by banning cashew nuts coming on land borders. So in effect this greedy mans decision has affected not only Rice importers but cashew processors, exporters, Shipping agents, loading boys, Council ticket for the councils and truckers. We seem to be in a perpetual state of attack from all ends, high taxes, killing of our business, high prices etc. How insensitive can these people be?
