the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us .

Gbevlo, nice man as he is but became too ambitious and Greedy. Gbevlo was fighting in all direction. In NDC with national and local executives, and political plat front with the opposition parties were on the firing line. The ordinary man on the street weren't even spared their corner. Pulling houses of innocent people down without consideration. Gbevlo was beginning to give the ordinary Ewe a bad name in the country.
Gbevlo is a nice man as I have known him but in NDC even nails and worms would start will learning to bite hard

It is no wonder our country Ghana is like this irrespective of all the Natural Resources endowed on us by GOD. I have read all the individual comments before mine.
All the comments seek to be happy Lt. Colonel Gbevlo-Lartey has been removed.
With these mind sets and attitudes embedded in the minds of Ghanaians, our country shall continue to wander in the forest.
We need disciplined people like Lt.Colonel GBEVLO-LARTEY to assist the Government to ensure that the RULE OF LAW IS ADHERRED TO AT ALL TIMES.
You unlawfully takes somebody property and you say it is OK for the person to steal the property?
You illegally construct toll both close to a major intersection thereby obstructing traffic with the resultant effect on productivity and you say the toolboth should remain to be there irrespective of all persuasions for the booth to be removed?
You encroach on government land and you refuse to leave the property to the bonafide owner and you are ejected and you say Gbevlo-Lartey is wrong?
All the problems and the indiscipline we have suffered in this country are self-inflicted.
After reading all the comments above, I have become very sad. Indeed I regret I am a Ghanaian!

Hi Kwasi, thanks for your comments and I agree with you to some extent but disagree with you when it comes to rule of law. When there is any violation or infaction on the part of any citizen, the matter should be referred to the Judiciary, that is our Courts for them to apply the law. When all Ghanaians uphold this directive, Ghana will be a better place to stay. A typical example is the "election petition" instituted by Nana Akuffo Addo & Co. What would have happened if they and their supporters had taken the law into their hands and ordered their teeming supporters to fight? That would have led war. The gentleman Gbevlo may be the best person to hold that office, but in my opinion he took the law into his own hands. No one is above the Constitution of Ghana.

I was during at the OKPONGLO intersection at that time and had to be stuck at the intersection for one hour because the Legon authorities were collecting tools at the security gate.
Did you expect Lt Col Gbevlo Lartey to go to court to obtain an order and the matter dragged in court for one year? The Legon authorities would not listen to advice and became intransigent.
In that instance Lt Col Gbevlo Lartey acted promptly and decisively to save all of us. In such an instance going to court would do more harm than good.

Kwasi Asamoah, if you regret to be a Ghanaian it is your problem. You can chose any country of your liking and move on. Col. Gbevlo-Lartey became too swollen headed on his job and forgot that it was someone superior who appointed him to his post. He was fighting every one both left and right, dabbling in national politics and forgetting that his sensitive position as the National Security Adviser does not allow him to make public pronouncements unless authorised by the Office of the President. In many countries it is only either the Ministries of Defence, the Interior and above all the President's Office that can speak on National Security matters, not the advisers. All the points you have raised shows that you are ignorant about the functions of Col. Gbelvo-Lartey as the National Security Adviser. He misused his position and has to go.

THE POSITION OF "NATIONAL SECURITY COORDINATOR" WAS CREATED BY MR FRANCIS POKU. HE TAUTED THE POSITION FOR HIMSELF WITH DR HILLA LIMANN WHO REALISED THAT IT WOULD ENABLE ONE POWER-HUNGRY INDIVIDUAL CONTROL AND MANIPULATED SECURITY INFORMATION AND REJECTED HIM AND HIS IDEA. KUFFUOR APPARENTLY BOUGHT INTO THE IDEA AND LATER REGRETTED AND FIRED MR POKU. NOW MAHAMA HAS FOUND IT NECESSARY TO FIRE HIS APPOINTEE. IS IT NOT THE TIME TO ANALYSE THE POSITION. INDIVIDUAL HEADS OF THE VARIOUS SECURITY AGENCIES SHOULD REPORT TO THE PRESIDENT, SO THE PRESIDENT CAN SEE THE SECURITY PICTURE FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES? PERHAPS THE POSITION HANDS TOO MUCH POWER TO ONE INDIVIDUAL AS DR LIMANN SUSPECTED.

This sacking is the single most intelligent act Mahama has done since taking office. If you will recall, this Gbevlo guy was dismissed from the army by Kuffour after he was caught planning a coup against the NPP on behalf of JJ (he was JJ's right hand man in the army when he appointed him the commander of the defunt 64th battalion, remember them?). Then Mills was conned by JJ to appoint him to this sensitive position, also use Nunoo Mensah as his boss and check mate (all by the machination of JJ). When Nunoo was canned, Gbevlo saw his opportunity to dominate and it went to his head. Good job Mahama and good riddance. Hope Mahama stay on top of these and show more leadership and common sense!
