Vote out Sir John, he’s disgracing NPP – Frimpong Boateng

Heart Surgeon-turned-politician, Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng says delegates of the main opposition New Patriotic Party must vote out incumbent General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie and Chairman Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.

According to Frimpong Boateng, re-electing the two national executives, who, together with other national executives, failed to win victory for the party in the last elections, will cost the party another victory.

As far as the General Secretary position is concerned, he said the party is better off voting for former Presidential Spokesperson, Kwabena Agyepong, rather than retaining an “abrasive and insulting” Mr Owusu Afriyie, also known as Sir John.

In his view, Kwabena Agyepong, who survived a car crash on Tuesday April 8, 2014, and currently responding to treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, is a gentle and brainy person who could do a better job than Sir John.

Prof Frimpong Boateng, who threatened to take a back seat from party activities if Sir John and Mr Obetsebi Lamptey are retained at the party’s Annual Delegates Conference scheduled for April 12, 2014, at Tamale in the Northern region, also described Sir John’s style of leadership and politics too rough and acerbic to merit his re-election.

“Sir John wasn’t able to live up to expectation. I’ve told him personally. He couldn’t execute the job we gave him to do. He can’t say that he is the antidote to General Mosquito’s insults and so must be retained in Office. We don’t want that kind of insults anymore. We need people who can strategise intelligently towards the party’s victory rather than hurling insults at General Mosquito and even Judges to bring shame and embarrassment to the party,” Prof Frimpong Boateng told Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen political programme on Wednesday April 12, 2014.

Mr Obetsebi Lamptey once described Sir John as the NPP’s antidote to the governing party’s General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, also known as General Mosquito.
