The earlier an action is taken to evict them the better it will be for the nation. Anyway, were the people affected by the dam paid any compensation or the government built townships to relocate them. President Mahama should sack this useless Regional Minister for giving the illegal squatters endangering the Bui Dam a life line to endanger the Biu Dam. Indeed, if it is true that the squatters are armed with sophisticated weapons, then the military and the police should be dispatched to kill them all.
Such nation wreckers should not be allowed to take the nation for a ride. Besides, the five households that refused to be relocated should be removed and relocated by force to save the Dam from eventual collapse.
Giving ultimatum should never be an option. A security zone around the Dam should be delineated,as no go area, and any infringement must be treated with dispatch.
Ghana contracted Loans to build the Dam, and the loan is still being serviced,and how can we allow irresponsible people to cause damage to the Dam? Kill them all!

Why is the writer trying to whip the sentiments of Ghanaians? Does he want someone to act on this or he is just telling readers to react to the story? Just about 32 day ago, and precisely 28th February 2014 there was a featured article captioned "GALAMSEY TASKFORCE OPERATIONS UPSET MAHAMA". The story asserted that the president was quick to criticize the galamsey operandi taskforce to channel their activities into reclaiming the land with the illegal operators rather than trying to stop them. And that he the president is waiting for world bank loan to formally register the operators so that after they destroy the land then they refill it. That same day, it was also on record from the communication director at the presidency (Mr Melor) that people misunderstood the president only for him to worsen the the story by try to throw dust into the eyes of the reading public under the heading "MAHAMA DID NOT CONDEMN GALAMSEY TASKFORCE" (28TH Feb 2014) and by so doing complicated the matter for the president. So who is the writer of this story fooling? Our leaders do not understand once the top soil is destroyed it will take generations, and I means many years even if that can be, for mother nature to return it to productive use. The silting of the Bui dam is not dangerous to any of our leaders but rather for the boys around the catchment center of the dam to get illegal jobs in an effort to create jobs. Who can challenge this assertion? Please go back and read for yourself the said articles on Ghanaweb archives 28 Feb 2014 and that will explain the country's position on illegal activities that affects us now and future generations. Let us not weep for Ghana but ourselves. He who created humankind might have mercy on us and give us good direction. I rest my case.

It is most crucial to protect the Dam. If we fail to do so, the Dam would become a failed investment, with disastrous ripple-effect on our Ecosystem. The intrusion of foreign elements makes it all the more worrisome because while they are stealing our Natural Resources via Galamsey, they are also causing the possible build-up of massive debt upon us with the failure of the Dam through their activities.

These folks know they cannot get away with such illegal activities in their own Countries and backyards because of the draconian enforcement of their Laws, especially by their Gendarmeries. We are perceived as corrupted softies by these Nationals who are always poised to capitalize on our ready amiability taken for weakness.

They did it to us pilfering our Cocoa across the borders. Now, it is our Gold. Soon, it would be our Oil. And eventually, we would be left with nothing, while they deny us access to their own.

We need to wake up.

When we got independence,because of Kwame Nkrumah power grabe he foolishly too athe power from the chiefs and our leaders and gave them to his appointees so he can control the people. For years Ghana govt. has allowed
foreigners from Syria, Lebanon, the
United Kingdom and Italy to
invad our forests and finished our lumber. These foreigners never planted a single tree to help revitalise these forests. Ghanaians who owe these forests are killed, imprisoned and prevented from cutting just a tree to roof their houses.These foreigners sold these lumber for good foreign money and most of the time never sent to Ghana the most needed cash. Ghanaian workers were paid menial pay
and most of the time monthly pays were delayed for months.

Ghanaians never learnt a lesson, our
unscrupulous leaders, corrupt police
officials and chiefs in various regions have now sold our most precious lands to another group of foreigners. These foreigners who are not allowed to deface their homeland lands have now turned to Ghana to mine our Gold and Diamonds that we the Ghanaians are not allowd to dig.
Whose fault is this anyway. Can Ghanaians go to Syria, Lebanon, Italy,
Great Britain, China and any part of the world and dig for Gold or diamonds. Woe to you a Ghanaian who
will try to venture into any foreign
lands and do that. So if foreigners are deforesting our dear land it is our own fault. If foreigners are digging our gold and diamonds it is our fault.
Ghanaians have died from the hands of
forest rangers for cutting and selling
our own lumber. A lot of our own men and women have died for digging deep
trenches just to find a bit of gold to
support their families. The officials call these operations GALAMSEY because
they could not bribe the officials for
fpermissions. Ghanaians wake up and stop these foreigners from destroying our dear land.

Right thing to do now is round them all up and deport them immediately to their respective countries. No sacred goats or cows, please.

This is really sad. To the extent that immigrants can enter Ghana and disregard our laws with inpunity is very alarming. No country in the world will tolerate this. But this is the result of corruption, taste it.
