The MPs should expend their energies on critical issues instead of playing to the gallery.

Imagine the crap that came from the meeting of Vice-Chancellors!!! I bet you cannot find anybody alive as stupid as the so-called 'Prof' Ayitey. I will show you a professor when one is passing by!
I suggest we close down all the universities and turn them into poultry and pig farms to provide nutrition for the masses.

The premier university of Ghana - The University of Ghana Legon sadly does not appear in the top
500 universities on earth. This must be corrected immediately. The university in order to achieve this must improve:
1) Faculty student ratio
2) The number of research projects it carries out
3) The test scores of its entry class (internationally normalised)
4) Employers' review of performance of its graduates (local and abroad)
5) Peer review by other universities

Yes, the university should be protected and preserved. But please let? do it with civility. The haterd for president Mahama led government is becoming too much.

I dont understand why the media is still claiming that "not everyone has access to the campus". Why are they creating the wrong impression in peoples minds? This issue has nothing to do with barring anyone from entering the campus. All they are saying is "USE THE MAIN ENTRANCE". if you want to use any other entrance, you will have to pay for a sticker. I think there is nothing wrong with stopping the campus from being used as a throughfare for all motorists.
However the what university authorities need to do to diffuse this situation is to differentiate between ordinary motorists and those who have constant business on campus (e.g. students with cars and parents whose children attend primary schools on the campus). Students can be made to pay a toll (to reduce the number of students using cars on campus) but parents who can prove their children attend primary school on campus should not be made to pay for the sticker.

Have acted as though they live on some
island in this country? Of course, now that that they realize that there exists a higher authority, capable of deflating their baloon full of arrogance, they seem to be back-peddling and seeking some sort of 'refuge' in this irrational 'nonsense' this prof. is spewing out! I heard the MP for Abokobi,Alhj. Sologo, say in an interview he gave on Adom FM`s Burning Issues Program that he was told in the face by guards manning a checkpoint that they had specific instructions from 'above' not grant access to anybody, including MPs like he Sologo who had lobbied to have a fire tender located at the UG campus!
The surprising point he made was that he had indicated to the Gurads that going to visit with officials of the Fire stationed at the campus to help address some concerns they had relayed to him;but the gurads would not budge, and so he had to abandon his visit.
Again this Dr. Aggrey Darko was making needless insinuations about the UG authorities being on firm legal ground with respect to their actions. That being so, why sould they[the UG authorities] be worried about any attempt to clip its wings? They can wait and challenge any proposed amendments at the SC, if they believe they have unfettered right to do anything they fancy! This lame appeal about UG`s responsibilty to posterity is rather ridiculous, ans shows how insencere many of these 'rags to riches' folks who have found a home at the Ivory Tower are.

“Should we amend every law because an individual sees a conflict with his desires ..." Who told Dr Darko that an individual sees conflicts with his desires? Majority of Ghanaians are in arms against the university authorities on this matter. Where has he been the past weeks, perhaps, on Mars or Neptune but certainly not on planet Earth, let alone in Ghana?
The removal of the powers of the university to restrict access to the university and its facilities will not lead to unreasonable demands from Ghanaians. If one is not a bona fide admitted and registered student of the university, you cannot all of a sudden attend lectures because this power of restriction is removed.

I was at the London School of Economics & Political Science and can tell fellow citizens that the bus stop is just in front of the Chemistry Department entrance! If there is rain, in fact you don't need to open your umbrella because two or three steps and you are inside. It is sad that in Ghana some ignorant loud-mouthed persons just hold the rest of us to ransom!

It surprises me when when people who are highly placed in society make comments like that of Dr. Darko's.What does he mean when he asked whether we should amend every law which an individual is at conflict with? Is he telling Ghanaians that all the noise we heard against their actions at Legon came from an individual and does he mean to tell us that amending the law that gives Legon those powers is equal to emending every law in Ghana?

I am surprised Parliament is going to give attention to this bill. Ghana is systematically destroying all its institution, now partliament is going to exacerbate the already dismal situation on our university campuses by passing a bill the will tie the hands of the managment who are trying under hard condition to get the univeristy going. Legon is particular is doing very well in its ranking as compared to KNUST and UCC. Parliament should be careful not to disturb the peace on campus. It should be careful not to weaken the hands of the management of our universities. This can spell doom for our education. Doe s parliament know how our universities are faring in terms of ranking of universties? They may not know but they know how Black Star's position on FIFA ranking. Why should a whole Act of Parliament be amended because a handful of MPs have been personally affected by a small policy of the UG? Do they know the mandate of the university? Have they bothered to know if the UG is fulfilling its mandate? Come on Parliament, you have better things to debate. The economy is in shambles, bribery is on the ascendency, they is no faith in the goverment, we elected you to work on these fundamental issues that affect life in the country stay on course and deliver for we are watching. Please don't disappoint us. By the way, I am aware that only MPs are allowed to enter Parliament by other entrances the rest of us enter and exit by only one entrace, was parliament house not constructed and maintained by the taxes we pay?
