this govt is soaked in corruption and has compromised our future with their shady deals with the Chinese . you talk of humble beginnings only to support those who destroy any chances we have at a better future for our children . you pass laws on GMO that will eventually have a devastating effect on our agriculture just because of a few pieces of silver bribes or what you now term as lobbying . you ndc have no heart or conscience just look at what your police are doing to the small enterprises and the weaker in our society . we here of heart wrenching stories of police so power drunk that they arrest drivers carrying goods and hold them in custody for enough days so the produce be it fish or other perishables get spoilt as they want bribes. small capital of a few thousand cedis goes up in smoke because of this callous selfish corrupt attitude and we say our economy is collapsing but dont realise the backbone of our economy are these very same small businesses be it selling roasted plantain on the street corner or traders in the market . you drive around in you air conditioned cars with police escorts so you dont get stuck in traffic but do nothing to implement solutions that will make it easier for the common man . you spend all your time scheming and conspiring so the people because of your propaganda are perpetually confused and remain ignorant . yes we call for a revolution to clear this oligarchy and if we have our way before then end of this year Ghana will burn so out of the fire the pure gold of our nation will come out . your govt is cursed and will never do anything good for our people as you will remain blind to what is visible to all righteous souls and never know the right way forward even if its presented to you . your legacy will be only one of deepened tribalism , corruption ,treason and betrayal of the national interest assisted by your Chinese criminals . all institutions of state are a disappointment and failure as they are so corrupt they no longer serve their purpose . if we do not stop you the tribalism and anti Akan agenda will become institutionalized .your govt has not created a single sustainable business rather collapsed many industries we inherited from Nkrumah and before.under the guise of minority rights you would rather promote sodomy instead of legalizing marijuana as you are more attracted to perversion and gutter morals than doing the right thing . ndc where is your integrity and common sense ?

From the crooked MPs, to crooked Presidential office even the church leadership, school teachers the large majority can be bought by the highest payer/bidder so its stinks to the core with everyone having very little quality moral guidance in aiming to be successful which for most means getting more cash.

The problem is lack of trust and total break down of law and order. Demolitions of buildings, toll booths, are done by the Police, without any court orders. Police and military caused some arrest in Tamale after a gruesome murder, then the Regional Minister ordered the released of all those arrested because they belong to a particular party. Due the above, the citizenry thinks it is better to take the law into their own hands. The worst is yet to come, and we pray for God to save us from such calamity.

These killings are partly a problem of moral breakdown in Ghana. Greed, hatred, envy, deceit, lack of self control, unnecessary show offs, and many other issues of morality are the causes of these murders. Economic growth has very little to do with this, as most of the victims seemed to have been killed by hired killers. The biggest problem in Ghana today is the Judges that handle murder cases. They seem to condone killers in Ghana, and see no reason to touch those killers, and that is why we are being told to expect more killers and killings. One can easily see that the victims were not just aimless citizens, but people in responsible positions.I mean skilled workers and entrepreneurs.eg Louis of Louis Gas. One very EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE means of reducing murder cases in Ghana is the ELECTRIC CHAIR and the LETHAL INJECTION for any killer. Let Ghana try this for a year, and see the results.

Akwasi,
I acknowledge your view but you have presented a misguided and one sided argument. It is not the issue of law enforcement agencies alone but what needs to happen is that we need to understand the motivation for those crimes. Sadly, this does not happen in Ghana given the lack of research by criminologists (if we have one) in Ghana.

What does the good Dr. Aning mean by "..to use established processes and procedures to resolve differences"? What and where are those established processes and procedures? In fact things are what they are because of the lack of effective and established best practices and procedures in Ghana. Can anyone in Ghana call any local police station and get a police response within one (1) hour? Can a police unit call for backup and get it within one (1) hour? Are the police quipped to defuse domestic disputes reasonably? Are the police officers in Ghana trained to err on the side of females in most domestic situations except when there is aggression from the female with police presence? Are there detention facilities for overnight stay fit for dogs in Ghana much less humans? Do we have the capacity for the safe keeping of evidence? Do we have a legal system beyond reproach or are the courts bought and sold like every other institutions of state?
People are resolved to flaunt the laws of the nation because there are no moral and or principled authority left in Ghana. When politicians from Ghana's major political parties can incite marches on police stations and on the courts of this country to advocate the release from custody one of its wayward members without fear the nation operates at the mercy of the mob and there is no turning back. When NPP and NDC party members can steal from the nation and deliberately destroy all paper footprints thus making audit work impossible and or no one goes to prison because of a corrupted court system we should expect mob rule and laws of the jungle. Is not true that the Chief Justice on Ghana's Supreme Court accepted and purchased land from ex-president Kufour who does not have a constitutional vested powers to do so? Was it not the very Supreme Court that saw nothing wrong with Jake Obetsibe-Lamptey's acquisition of a government owned property even without public bid and or sufficient public notification? Chaos is going to be with us for some time because we live in the jungle led by tribal bigots with laws promulgated by hypocrites in parliament.

When there is real economic growth, crime naturally goes down because there are jobs and means of sustenance available. When resources are limited and few people seemingly have access to them, it creates a competitive environment. This is what creates social tension. It takes a little argument to murder someone. In the US, when unemployment is high, crime rate goes up. Crime has nothing to do with the inability of people to adapt to the fast changes in society.

Get their men on the ground to get first hand info. The Community Policing Unit should be re-strategised intensifying the cctv to capture every 150 metres of places and lastly but not the list pls take threats serious when reported. Criminological studies suggested that majority of cases of threat do led up to execution of the threats. Police should record all threats when reported and let the calprits give undertaking not less than 6months of correct behaviour becos it is anti-social behaviour to threaten someone, if breached then processed to court.
