This is serious. Not much has changed or improved in 30 years. How long are WE willing to wait? Past and current Governments have failed us, NGOs have failed us! Suggested Solution: Ghana has been a market economy at least since 1992. Butchers need to organize and get loan from the private sector to improve the conditions and pass on/spread the increased cost to the consumers willing to buy quality/sanitary meat products.

slaughter houses in usa are refrigerated and employees must wear coats just like cold storage..meat unless its smoked/salted or dried jerkey must be alway refrigerated or frozen! it must be transported in refrigerated trucks ... read full comment

The real question how can some of these Ghanaians investing in mansions pull some of their resources together and operate abattoirs that meet international standards. 20 years ago we did not have Papaye restaurant or gas/petrol stations with convenient stores selling refreshments in sanitary conditions. It is all private enterprise.

We need running water in all our abattoirs and butcheries to make them hygienic. Periodic clean up can take place then. I have stopped buying meat from these places, i rather slaughter my own at home.
