  I hope the Ghanaian government is intent on educating the public about the risks associated with uniformed consumers accessing credit, especially credit financed by foreigners.
  
  Access to credit can be a great way for people to lift themselves from tough economic conditions. However, the introduction of such a system requires the commitment from the governing body to dully inform its citizens and to ensure that proper measures are in place to protect consumers new to this economic practice. If not, you can end up with situations where abuses run rampant and consumers end up in worse economic situations.
  
  This has happened in other emerging countries (Brazil and Chile) to name a few
