But who caused it? Otabil's UP/NPP which overthrew the forward marching Ghana of the 1957 thus derailing the progress of the country. This man is talking too much these days and yet when he would cry wolf when quoted in the future for the things that have come out of his own mouth; what a hypocrite.

Just find out the people who constituted the National Liars Movement (NLM) and the people who pushed them to embark upon that shameless coup which toppled Nkrumah. Today, there is total confusion in Ghana which is called mobocracy. Everyone is yelling at each other but no one is saying or doing anything to Change the situation. There is no strategic Goal in place. People in Charge have no plans that what worked in Ghana back then in the early stages of our Independence still holds for today. Hygiene is Hygiene and sanitation remains sanitation.
What we have today in Ghana are Clowns hopping from Radio stations to the other shouting without anyone having a plan in place to walk the talk.
If you cannot beat Nkrumah join him. All we have to do is take the SYDP and update or customize it to the needs of today. Revamp or revatilze the 69 industries that Nkrumah built and were strategically positioned within the length and breadth of Ghana to serve our people. Bring back SOE's like in Malaysia, Singapore. That is the way Forward.

Mahama. The true is democracy does not work for people with a mentality such as Africans. In 1957 sanitary inspectors were going from house to house to make sure people do the right things. The colonial masters had to result to these measures in order for us to keep our cities clean. Today we are independent and these laws are no longer in place hence the filt all over the country. How come we can do the right things unless forced by somebody to?

Gen. Afrifa Ordered Staff at Flagstaff House Shot - Witness
Cape Coast Feb 26 GNA -
A 56 year-old former bodyguard of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Mr Jeremiah Elkellah on Thursday told the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) hearing at Cape Coast that in 1966, the late General Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa ordered soldiers to shoot at the staff living in quarters opposite the Flagstaff House.
He said in the morning of February 24 of that year, some soldiers came to the quarters and ordered the staff numbering about 40 out of their rooms and lined them up in front of the quarters.
He said Gen. Afrifa, whom he described as the "Chief Commander" at the time, then ordered the soldiers to shoot at them resulting in the death of some of the guardsmen of the Presidential Details Department (PDD) whiles others got injured.
Witness said he was shot in the arm and collapsed but later managed to crawl to the nearby Christ the King Church, from where a Priest took him to the 37 Military Hospital where he was operated upon and the bullet lodged in his right shoulder removed.
He said he was on admission for nine days, and decided to go to his hometown at Apataim, near Axim, when he was discharged, but was arrested at Takoradi by soldiers and taken to Sekondi Prisons, where he was imprisoned for 22 months during, which he was tortured and released on November 7 1967.
The Witness said he was not paid compensation at that time. He was only paid his salary for February 1966, but said he now enjoys pension and appealed for compensation for the injury, loss of his property and the inhuman treatment meted out to him.
Two of the Commissioners, Maulvi Wahab Adam and Uborr Dalafu Labal II later inspected the scars on the back of Mr Ekelleh.
Maulvi Adam commended him and his other colleagues, who have already given evidence to the Commission, for defending the nation during the 1966 coup and advised him to join the association of the former guards of the PDD.

He did come to earth to prove Himself, and will come again.Just hold your anger please, you will surely see Him, whether you live or die before He comes. Dont make your case worse please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY DEAR DR.MENSAH OTABIL AND THE READING PUBLIC OF GHANAWEB.COM,
IT IS TRUE THAT 1957 GHANA USHERRED THE GOLD COAST, THE ASHIANTI COLONY, TRANS VOLTA TOGOLAND AND THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES UNDER ONE AND UNITED INDEPENDENT COUNTRY CALLED GHANA.
THAT BROUGHT ABOUT THE NOBLE CONCEPT AND PRINCIPLE OF "UNITY IN DIVERSITY" SINCE THE WISDOM SAYING IS "THERE IS STRENGTH IN UNITY".
THAT ON MARCH 6, 1957 GHANA UNDER THEN LATE PRIME MINISTER OSAGYEFO DR.KWAME NKRUMAH ATTAINED INDEPENDENCE FOR GHANA.
THAT AT THE SAME TIME THE THEN BRITISH GOVERNMENT LEFT BEHIND FOR GHANA 220 MILLION POUND STERLINGS AND DEPOSITED AS RESERVED ACCOUNTS FOR GHANA ADDITIONAL 220 MILLION POUND STERLINGS FOR GHANA.
THAT GHANA WAS THEREFORE THE RICHEST INDEPENDENT GHANA IN THE SUB-SAHARAN REGION OF AFRICA.
MAY I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST DR.MENSAH OTABIL TO CROSS CHECK THESE RELATED FACTS.
THAT OBVIOUSLY THE NEWLY RICH INDEPENDENT GHANA SHOULD INDEED BE A BETTER GHANA SINCE GHANA AT THAT TIME OWED NOBODY OR NO COUNTRY.
THAT GHANA AT THAT COULD GIVE A GRANT OF 10 MILLION POUND STERLINGS TO GUINEA TO HELP GUINEA TO ATTAIN INDEPENDENCE FROM FRANCE. HENCE THE NAME OF THE LATE FIRST PRESIDENT OF GUINEA SEKOU TOURE WAS GIVEN TO GHANA FIRST PRESIDENT SON NOW DR.SEKOU NKRUMAH.
THAT HISTORY IS THE CAUSE OF EVENTS RECALLED AND I AM AS SUCH DOING JUST THAT.
THAT IT IS VERY PAINFUL FOR ME TO RECALL SOME OF THE FATES OF EVENTS THAT MY FAMILY, THE AMEKUDZI FAMILY OF KPEDZE SUFFERRED THEN JUST AS SAME THAT OTHER FAMILIES MAY OR MIGHT SUFFER FROM OTHER GOVERNMENTS AND REGIMES OF GHANA THEREFORE I WOULD BE VERY CIRCUMSPECT ABOUT THESE DICEY ISSUES SINCE GHANA NEEDS PEACE TO MOVE FORWARD AS A UNITED COUNTRY.
HOWEVER, JUST TO CITE ONLY A FEW THAT MY LATE UNCLE PRESBYTER OF KPEDZE E.P CHURCH BENJAMIN GANAFU AMEKUDZI AND OTHERS WERE IN EXILED IN TOGO DURING THOSE ERA.
THAT HON.MR.WALTER BLEGE'S FATHER THE LATE PRESBYTER DIED IN EXILE IN TOGO FOR APPARENTLY CAUSING NO MISCHIEF IN GHANA BUT BECAUSE OF VICIOUS LIES PERPETRATED AGAINST THEM TO THE THEN LATE PRESIDENT OSAGYEFO DR.KWAME NKRUMAH.
THAT A BIG TRACK OF MY FAMILY LAND, THE AMEKUDZI FAMILY LAND AT "AKPAKLI" WHERE THE FAMILY HAD TREE CROPS WAS COMPULSORILY ACQUIRED AND TAKEN FROM THE FAMILY BY FORCE WITHOUT COMPENSATION FOR THE LAND UPTIL NOW.
THAT THE AMEKUDZI FAMILY IN 1970 WAS ONLY PAID A MEAGER COMPENSATION FOR THE TREE CROPS ON THAT LAND AND WERE PAID 22 PESEWAS PER COCOA TREE DESTROYED.
THAT THE SITE OF KPEDZE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL FORMERLY KPEDZE SECONDARY SCHOOL IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT AND WHAT DR.MENSAH OTABIL THINKS ABOUT THAT AND I RESPECTFULLY NEEDS YOUR URGENT RESPONSE, THERETO.
THEREFORE,THE THINGS WE WRITE AND TALK ABOUT SHOULD BE SEEN TO BE BY THE STANDARD OF "OBJECTIVITY" AND NOT TO BE BLURRED BY OUR PERSONAL IDIOSYNCRASY.
GHANA NEEDS PEACE TO MOVE FORWARD AND ALSO TO BUILD THE BETTER GHANA FOR ALL.
RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED.
GOD BLESS GHANA AND LONG LIVE GHANA.
VERY TRULY YOURS,

Ever since the socalled Revolution in 1979,Ghana has never been the same.
Morals and discipline was throw over board, before that, though we were living in hard conditions under the SMC regime, atleast there was respect and morals in Ghana.
It became worse under the almost 20years rule of Rawlings.
Rawlings had the oppontunity to either transform Ghana or destroy it,and unfortunitely he chosed the latter. He came with the intention of changin how things were done, but after enrichen himself he forgot, why almost every Ghanaian youth supported him when he came on the political scene.
He formed the NDC with his idea of doing everything with force, insults.
What we are witnessing today in Ghana is the reminiscences of 1979.

THAT'S WHY THEY'LL CONTINUE TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION ABROAD AND COME BACK HOME IN COFFINS OR KAPUT IN GHANA LIKE ATTA-MILLS DID SHORTLY AFTER USING GHANA'S POOR TAX PAYERS' MONEY FOR THEIR EXPENSIVE MEDICAL NEEDS ABROAD.
AKUFFO-ADDO IS ALSO SCHEMING TO DO SAME IF HE EVER BECOMES GHANA'S PRESIDENT.
GHANA'S "LEADERS" ARE SO CONDITIONED TO ENJOYING GHANA'S TAXPAYER FREEBIES THAT THEY HATE USING THEIR OWN FUNDS OR SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES.
A PERFECT CASE IN POINT IS RAWLINGS WAITING FOR THE POOR GHANAIAN TAXPAYER TO FURNISH HIS BRAND NEW HOUSE BUILT WITH TAX PAYER MONEY.
THIS FOLLOWS HIS SETTING HIS "OLD" TAX PAYER HOUSE ABLAZE.

Otabil and the other ministers of the Bible run away from politics and left it in the hands of the greedy people who claimed they are politicians, when in real sense politics is not an evil work, since politics is defined as an art of governing or adminstering a nation.
Today, you Otabil is talking like some people have destroyed the moral fabric of the nation. You are directly and indirectly involved. This is what you should know and understand.
Some of you only used your position as ministers of God only to be selective with political parties and please them. Where were you when Kufour and the NPP were clearly destroying the things you were talking about today.
Otabil and others should move away from hypocracy and face realities so that they also as ministers of God could help put the nation on the right path in terms of morality. They can not sit on the touchline and claim they are servants of God. Jesus got involved and that was why he had enemies, yet he never feared anybody as he continued to help straighten things in his time.
Today many of you worship money in a smart way thus you leave the congregation and the people in general to do their own wrong things --immorally. Even some of you foolishly and ignorantly claimed your profession is preaching thus leaving the crooked so called people who also claimed their profeeion is politics to run the nation with their evil mindedness.
OTABIL dont be crying wolf over the present situation in Ghana and also stop making those comments like it is the NDC that creates this. Where were you all the past years, and in what way have you approached the governments of the past and present over the happenings in our nation? Answer and God will listen to you if u are right or wrong.
Otabil should makes statements that he had allowed Ghana to be the way it is today. Now start calling together all those with the Bible and claimed are teachers of the word of God and bring the government and all the opposition parties and discuss of the national policy that could ussher Ghana into an era of political and moral awareness so that God will be happy with the nation. A word to wise is enough.

Rev. Dr. Otabil for years, God gave you the opportunity to train the youth, you paid no taxes, you accounted to no one for the tithes and offerings you collected, you were favoured by Governments in diverse ways to be where you are today and today you stand before the youth to boast and say others are not serious?
Dear Rev. Otabil, please remember the Pharisees in the Bible and be transformed in mind to please the Lord.
Please, try to be real and give no impression that you are blaming the current leaders of Ghana for all the woes in Ghana. The current leadership is serious - they are tackling a @'fermented sore' and they need soberness and the support of everybody - after all, we have all contributed in one way or the other to the mess we are facing today. Rev Dr. the God you serve is the one who will require accountability from you and that will be when the end shall come. The nation's leaders are always accounting for their stewardship to the nation every 4 years and will ultimately do same to God. If today, opportunity is given to your church members to criticize you, I bet you, you will put down your 'agbadza' and run away. Rev. you have in the recent past displayed your intemperate character to many discerning Ghanaians and I wonder how you would behave if you were Rawlings, Atta Mills or Mahama. You cannot stand criticisms - one day the church will question your integrity and what you do with their money.
Rev. do you think people are not working with their hands? It takes more than the hands to work and you know that. Times have changed - demography changed, population increased, technology improved, priorities changed, etc therefore, Rev. you cannot compare 1957 and 2014. Please, let us try to lead and be honest to people who look up to us for good things. Your presentation is intended to down the current leadership of the state and you should be straightforward so that people will know the 'stuff' you are made of. Thank you.

An older couple had a son, who was still living with them. The parents were a little worried, as the son was still unable to decide about his career path, so they decided to do a small test.
They took a ten-dollar bill, a Bible, and a bottle of whiskey, and put them on the front hall table. Then they hid, hoping he would think they weren't at home.
The father told the mother, "If he takes the money, he will be a businessman; if he takes the Bible, he will be a priest; but if he takes the bottle of whiskey, I'm afraid our son will be a drunkard."
So the parents took their place in the nearby closet and waited nervously, peeping through the keyhole they saw their son arrive home.
He saw the note they had left, saying they'd be home later. Then, he took the 10-dollar bill, looked at it against the light, and slid it in his pocket. After that, he took the Bible, flicked through it, and took it also. Finally, he grabbed the bottle, opened it, and took an appreciative whiff to be assured of the quality, then he left for his room carrying all the three items.
The father slapped his forehead, and said, "Damn! It's even worse than I ever imagined..."
"What do you mean?" his wife inquired.
"He's gonna be a politician." the father replied.

WE NEED TO RETURN TO THE DRAWING BOARD AND STRATEGIZE FOR OUR DEAR NATION.
THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO BLAME ANY POLITICAL PARTY.
UNTIL OUR LEADERS REALIZE AND ACCEPT THAT "Ghana of 1957 worked better than the Ghana of 2014," AND THEREFORE A CHANGE IN OUR CURRENT SYSTEM IS NEEDED, THIS NATION WILL CONTINUE TO SINK.
WE NEED VISIONARY LEADERS TO RUN THE NATION.
THIS MULTI-PARTY SYSTEM HASNT HELPED US. NPP SAYS THIS AND NDC SAYS THAT AND ARE ALWAYS ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF DECISIONS. THE ONLY TIME THEY AGREE IS WHEN THEY'RE SEEKING THEIR OWN GAIN I.E. SALARY AND ALLOWANCES.
LETS UNITE, REVISIT OUR VISION AS A NATION, DEVELOP A CONCRETE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND TAKE STEPS TO ACHIEVE THAT VISION.

Mr. Otabil Ghana of 1957 we were only 6,5 million in population and today above 24 milion. Nkrumah in 57 had a lot of money from the colonian leaders who handed him power, instead of building Ghana he started giving our money out to other African leaders because he wanted to be President of Africa.
He wanted to turn Ghana to a cominist country, he misused our money and detained a lot of the acedemical because he wanted a one party state.
Mr. Otabil what Ghana needs is deliverance that everybody in the country needs it.
As a pastor you have to know better, God said if we don't worship him he will give our properties to foreigners
and this is happening now because we have turned away from God worshiping idols more thjan God. If we read 2 chron. chpt: 14, 15 and 16 then we we will understand what i am talking about.
The pastors of today are more corrupt than the politicians so start your clean up from the pastors and so called churches.
God said in Proverbs; 1 vrs 7 that the fear of the Lord is the begining of wisdom.
You pastors should preach salvation and not wealth in the churches . If you educate your church members to pay their Taxes to the state as they pay their tights to you then the country will get going . God bless you

Instead of sitting nicely in your church lead your congregation to start cleaning exercises everywhere. You have all the time to sit on corporate boards and collect fat rewards...I thought you have been called to pastor a church and lead them into the kingdom of God...forsake the wealth man of God and get your hands dirty by working in the community. You and all the pastors are too comfortable to be followers of Christ. Pastor, how are you carrying your cross when you are robbing shoulders with the same capitalists who are constantly stealing from the poor and the state. You may not realised it but like Jesus you have been elevated to the mountain top by the devil and not by God and that is why you are starting to sound as if you are perfect and the most intelligent man on hearth. You are simply a business man who does not buy to sell and pay no tax.

When money flows into your pocket so cheaply, it is easy to say anything. By the way, how old is Otabil? What does he know about Ghana BEFORE AND IN 1957?
Can he tell how Pastors conducted themselves then? Those were the years when humility, self-effacing and great contentment were the hallmarks of those who handled God's word. Those were the years when pastors were not easily bought by politicians as it is the case now-Otabil in NPP pocket and Duncan Williams in NDC, pocket. No wonder Ghana, according to Otabil is 'rottenly filthy' because pastors like Otabil only come out swinging like gorillas when the party they support is out of power. Please Otabil take time to read Jeremiah 5:21-31. When God says my 'people' today, He is referring to christians and more especially to those who claim to be their leaders-the Otabils and Duncan Williams'. Ghana's 1957 sweet fragrance when and only when there is a genuine repentance on the part all christian leaders in Ghana. 2Chronicles 7: 14-15.

Is it true that Ghana has atained 90.1% access to urban water, 80.37% access to rural water and 86.6 average access to water in urban/rural Ghana? If this is what to go by then there should be some significant improvement in the sanitation sector since the two are bed fellows. What dawn of 1957 is Pastor Mensah Otabil comparing to today's Ghana? Dr. Pastor mensah Otabil should be blunt. What was knew at the dawn of independence in 1957 that was better than today's ghana? History teaches us that in 1957 the pastors we had were not money conscious like today's pastors. They were true men of God and live by example, compare to today's pastors that lives on the whims and the caprices of the congregation's pocket. In 1957, Pastors were the poor and live exemplary life of Jesus Christ.90%of them were sustained by the Holy Ghost. But today, Pastors are the billionaire and their flamboyant life style is comparable to Pharaoh. In 1957 churches were non profit organisations and they they helped in nation building. But today, Pastoring and churches are lucrative business. Ghana was better in 1957 because we had few pastors and few churches. Today, every mad man who can recite John 3:16 is a Pastor. Every class room is church auditorium. So, the fewer the churches, the better ghana. The fewer the Pastors, the better Ghana. Ghana has become so rotten filthy because the pastors are too much and the churches are more than necessary. About 70% of Ghanaians are christians and goes to church every sunday. If this 70% can do the right thing and venerate the supreme law of the land, just as 30% christian did in 1957, Ghana will be the best place to live. 100% of Ghanaians, including 30%christians in 1957 obeyed law and order, worked hard towards nation building and worship God only on sundays. That was why Ghana was better in the eyes of Otabil than today that Ghanaians worship God from monday to sunday. Pastors in 1957 educates their congregations on government sanitation programme not only church extortion activities. christians in 1957 knew how to clean their compound and discards toxic waste properly, not leave their home unclean and go and clean church premises. 70% Of sanitation officers were not christians, so, they refuses bribe. Today, bribing and corruption is in the church room. When Otabil was growing as a young man, Pastors at the time preach to their congregation not to urinate by the road side and they obey. But today, the congregation are ask to try God by given immense offering and tithe. For us to see a purseful Citizenry, we need all hands on deck, including Pastors to conscientize and preach a purseful message to instil their congregation. Any University established by church and for that matter do not pay tax must not charge academy fee equal or higher than private Universities that are paying tax to the government. That was a purseful duty of churches in 1957 that made Ghana better. Pastors who are taken the lion share from church coffers as pay must pay tax to the government. The Bible did not only talk about tithe, but tax too. If a teacher have to pay tax from his meager salary, what prevent the Pastor from paying tax from his enormous salary. Any church that refuse to render yearly account to the internal revenue must be made to pay tax. Oh yes, if tro-tro driver, ice-water seller and the chop bar operator pays tax, what prevent the church from doing the same if its refuses to render yearly account to the IRA for proper audit. These are all part of the purposeful duties Otabil is talking about. However, it's a shame that christians of Ghana boast that Ghana is a christian nation and yet cannot boast that the country is now better than as it were in 1957 when christianity was not lofty. Christian clergies should bow their heads in shame for they have failed Ghana on that matter. God Bless Ghana.
