What currency do Ghanaian business people use when they go and transact business in the US? Please reason up a little bit. It is your own government who is asking the international business in Ghana (Hoteliers) to charge in the Ghanaian currency so why shouldn't other foreign entities also pay in the same Ghanaian currency? While Mahama is looking outward or outside Ghana forh development partners, he is doing his damnest best to discourage,demotivate,frustrate and humiliate local Ghanaian businessmen through his inconsistent policies. This in no way encourages anyone to invest in the economy. The command economy as practised in former communist countries did not work and will not work in Ghana today.

He better think about new ideas or Ghana will be taking a dive down the economic doldrum and we will end up in HIPIC again.... so much for middle income status.

On the other hand if the fee is a standard 23,000 Cedis who in their right sense will increase it to 24500 Cedis. 1500 Cedis passed on to the importer and same passed on to the consumer. the importers statement make no sense..foreign vessels operators have to pay through foreign because it is a foreign transaction..GPHA.Pay foreign currency to run their bisiness on foreign affairs..the measures taken are base on business on local level..when you are importing product..do you used local money importing them?..no, because,you are importing from outside of the country.is same way a foreigner comes into the country dealing in mining business,the proceed with calculated in dollars..these measures are for those trading locally in foreign currency..it doesn't work that way..you cam charges a school fees in ghana on foreign currency..same way as retail or wholesale in ghana cant sell product locally in dollars..it is simply,it is not a rocket science..all duties are based on percentage of the cost involve on puchased..if you purchase on US$, pound or Euro based on that..dont behave the import duties are previously based on cedi..

We can simply say that we are all jokers in Ghana or that is what our governments think of us. At all the ports in Ghana, CEPS s made to adjust the value of the cedi to the dollar everyday for the purpose of computing the duties for importers. This is dollarization. What prevents the Ghanaian worker from asking the government to use the "current-rate method" to adjust their salaries every month. What prevents the landlord from doing an adjustment every month? And what prevents schools from adjusting tuition every semester. Government must stop this adjustment practice if they are serious about stabilizing the cedi.
