Ghanaians must know the true state of the Nation - Konadu charges

The Leader and Founder of the National Democratic Party, NDP, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, says the general economic difficulty facing Ghanaians is so hard and has, therefore, called on well meaning Ghanaians including the media not to hesitate to create massive awareness about the situation.

Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings who is also a former first lady of Ghana, was addressing the Ashanti Regional Conference of the National Democratic Party in Kumasi.

She said almost every Ghanaian is suffering and instead of the government reflecting on the situation and find solutions to it, the few who comment on it are insulted and condemned.

Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings said democracy thrives on transparency, free expression and above all, tolerance and respect for divergent views and opinions.

She therefore called on religious leaders, the media, civil society to be outspoken without any fear to salvage the economic situation.

For his part, the National Chairman of the Party, Dr Josiah Aryeh said the poor performance of the economy in the midst of oil production must be blamed on corruption which is very pervasive in the NDC government.

Reports say the conference brought to together delegates for the first time since the last general elections, to deliberate and reorganize party structures to prepare for the 2016 general elections.

Dr. Aryeh said Ghanaians are gearing for the NDP, and that it is now being rejuvenated to be formidable than before, make it attractive and to be open to all.

Dr. Aryeh said he could not understand why the Accra-Kumasi Highway is not yet completed when new contracts continue to be awarded.

The National Chairman alleged that the award of new contracts always go with payment of kick back, hence the government finds it convenient in going for fresh contracts.

In his view, there is nothing to gain from old contracts, and challenged the government to provide reasons for the delay in completing the Accra-Kumasi road project.

A National Communication Member of the Party, Ernest Owusu Bempah, said the NDP is the only political organization that believes in probity, transparency and accountability.

Also, the only party which leadership has no corruptible background hence the attempt by the Electoral Commission to find a way to disqualify its candidate who was at the verge of winning the elections in 2012.
