Ghana and other African countries will continue to be like this till thy Kingdom if we don't change our attitudes. That is why I like country like Ethiopia in our continent. Everything is being done there locally even those who go there for conference and seminar, they will pay you in their local currency. They don't have foreign banks or communication networks in Ethiopia yet Africans fail to learn from them.

Dollar accounts in Ghana banks are blessings, rather than a curse to the Ghana economy.

If properly managed, and regulated; they can serve as domestic savings,-- in a universal currency -- that our government can borrow from without paying exorbitant interest rates.

Dollarization of our economy is a scheme: a collusion between some bad actors in government, and foreigners to exploit our people.

The failure of our government to detect this scheme sooner is very troubling, and disappointing. After all the practice has been widespread for a long time.

With all due respect, the president deserves to be implicated.

The president, and Parliament owe it to the people of Ghana hold a special investigative hearings in order to probe the scheme. Government directives are not adequate.

I urge the president to look into his cabinet, and weed out those prone to self-enrichment, -- at the expense of the country.

We must not "stop the opening of
[d]ollar accounts in Ghana [banks]".

Doing so would amount to throwing out the proverbial bath-water with the proverbial baby.

One of our government's key domestic economic policies is to encourage domestic savings. We must consider ourselves lucky for the people willing to meet this obligation in dollars, -- to help shore up our economy.

Having said that, it is the obligation of government to pursue policies that would ensure that people who open dollar accounts with dubious intentions don't get the chance to act on their dubious agenda.

May Lord Almighty continue to bless our beloved Great Ghana:

Then they go to their Bank, and wish to withdraw their own dollars for their journeys, only to be told: "taking your dollars away will destroy the Ghana economy...", or something like that.

And so called intelligent people like this Ayariga open their mouths, to spew 'words of wisdom'. Worse is that there are enough Ghanaians who believe "a politician is always right".

The bitter fact, though, is that Our Politicians go to the Banks, deposit cedis, and withdraw the US dollars belonging to other people, without having to answer any question.

With what do you want to pay for your transport from the Airport when you arrive in the USA? Cedis? No, you have already heard that cedis are useless in that country. Do you think you can exchange your cedis for dollars in the plane? Or will you take US-dollars along, from Ghana? But in that case, how did the dollar get to Ghana, if nobody brings the dollar to Ghana?

The employer's of those Ghana will only the currency of the contract and not in cedis. If those Ghanaians are refused the right to operate those accounts they will open elsewhere. The msjority of the tradeers who go and bring into the country even chewing stick do have any dollar account and they are the majour cause of the decline the cedis value. We should rather look at banning the importation those items for which there local substitutes

CHINESE,INDIANS,KOREANS ETC,ARE ALL CORRUPT.
They are not here because they want to help our development,like we entertain,but rather fit in the BRIBERY & CORRUPTION MOULD,GHANAIANS SEEM TO BE WALLOWING IN.

Their reactions/demands on the US$3B LOAN,GHANA IS RECEIVING FROM THEM,SEALS THAT STATEMENT.
What AYARIGA is saying about restriction on how much a foreigner has to have and send out of Ghana,is very,very important,for the government to implement it.
Foreigners have been left to do whatever they like,and that has given them the liberty to exploit the system,because there are many corrupt entities in Ghana,to help them achieve their goals.

Please stop the private individuals who deal in the foreign exchange on the side without papers. Some just change the money in their homes and offices . That should be stopped.
