A/upgrade and improve infrastructure: road systems, airports, ports, the entire infrastructure, and IT infrastructure IN GH IS LAGGING. IMAGINE THE JOBS THIS WILL CREATE FOR ALL THESE YOUTHS?
B/R&D:research and development being carried out within GH. GOVT MUST PROVIDE R&D tax credit for all companies who OPERATE/HVE operations within GH.
C/CORPORATE TAX BREAKS TO MULTINATIONALS WHO WISH TO USE GH AS THEIR HEADQUARTERS TO DO BUSINESS. THIS WILL HELP GH REMAIN globally engaged through trade and investment ACTIVIITES.
D/OFFER MORE CASH SAVINGS INCENTIVES FOR THE PPL OF GH THRU THE BANKS, MEDIA. DO THIS THRU FINANCIAL LITERACY CAMPAIGNS, CASH SAVINGS STRATEGIES WITH INTEREST E.G TFSA, RRSP, MUTUAL FUNDS, GIC'S, STOCKS/GSX ETC
E/FACTORIES: TURN MORE RAW MATERIALS TO FINISHED GOODS FOR EXPORT. IMPORT LESS.
IF GH WANTS TO RESOLVE ITS BUDGET DEFICIT, CHANGE THE MACROECONOMIC VARIABLES OF CONSUMPTION AND SAVINGS.
STRENGHTEN COMMERCE FACTORS SURROUNDING THE ECONOMY SO THAT THEY INDIRECTLY AFFECT THE POSITIVE STRENGTH OF THE CEDI. RATHER THAN TAKING SPECIFIC CEDI REVAMP MEASURES
F/I THINK ITS TIME THE BOG AND THE MIN OF FINACE MADE THIS ILLEGAL. IF YOU ACEPT FOREIGN CURRENCY AS LEGAL TENDER IN EXCHANGE FOR GOODS OR SERVICES IN GH. YOU THE ACCEPTEE MUST BE ARRESTED AND MUST SPEND AT LEAST 3MTHS IN JAIL,PLUS A FINE OF TRIPLE THE AMOUNT OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE YOU ACCEPTED.
THIS ALONE WILL CAUSE BUSINESSES LIKE HOTELS ETC FROM ACCEPTING OR PRICING IN DOLLARS OR ANY NON GH CURRENCY. THIS INCLUDES CHURCES TOO...LOL

As we DEBATE the financial situation of the economy, the 'investors' are well positioned to take advantage of the artificial make-over, and Ghana loses in the end. I say production is the answer to all our economic woes.
The government must buy production machines, train machinists, designers, CNC programmers and choose products to manufacture. We can manufacture almost anything we depend upon and export them to others for their money. Lets try it folks. I can give step by step guidelines . These ministers are at a loss.

Did you actually read the directives? It doesn't say they cannot expatriate funds at all. If so how could they import or pay for services outside of Ghana? It said that for this interim period both individuals and businesses with foreign and or forex accounts are disallowed from CASH withdrawals exceeding $10,000 at go. That means they can still withdraw not more than $10,000 per minute! However, foreign transaction exceeding $10,000 is not prohibited. How could this actually solve the permanent chronic forex problems that emanated from irresponsible economic policies?

Ghana will continue to import these items till thy kingdom come because yoy want basmatic rice, and olive oil. Have you forgiven K4 for spending milions of dollars to award himself gold medals? The cedi is not strong to compete the pound or dollars. Was NPP exporting or importing. Shut up and tell your NPP to look for flagbearer to challenge the NDC else you will regret. The situation in Ghana shows the lack of leadership, not just in the current time but over the past 30 - 40orty years. We have no development and economic plan that is measureable, nor accountability and worse of, nobody pays taxes. Ghana is a country with no excuse for economic prosperity. It is sad; Ghana does not have a stable supply of power and water in this modern day technology. We compare ourselves to other countries in Africa whose citizens are migrating to Ghana and the western world. The western world is getting saturated with immigrants from Africa and south east Asia. This door immigration is largely being closed as these economies are also struggling to keep afloat.
It would be good to take a step back and let’s work on the very basic economic and social principles towards a more sustainable economic development. A 10-20 year economic program and investment in basic infrastructure will be appropriate.

Keys areas that will cause negative impact on the Ghanaian economy..
(1) increase in VAT: charging VAT on bank withdrawals. This will encourage people to withdraw their monies and save under their mattress and never bank again. Lets think the other way around...if VAT is reduced by 1% and no penalty on bank withdraws. People will spend more and likely save more..especially when the interest rate is raised. At the long run Ghana makes more on VAT due to increased in spending.
(2) Restrictions on foreign currency account holders will cause people to close their foreign accounts and save their currency at home under the mattress...after all the cedi is falling and they can get a higher return against the cedi in the future.
The other way around this is, increase interest rate for foreign accounts to encourage people to save their currency in the banks....and remove those stupid rules of how much you can withdraw from your own account. I understand if you are leaving the country...the maximum should be under 10,000
(3) encourage use of domestic resources in local manufacturing. Ghanaians consume of 1 billion dollars of imported wheat in bread making yearly. Bread can be made from locally grown potatoes.
Ghanaians also drink a lot of beer made from imported barley...we now know beer can be made from cassava leaves and millet/sorghum etc.
(4)The ministry of finance and economy should be on top of monthly statistics to measure the economy and make that information available to the public. eg unemployment rate, interest rate, export and imports and what they are doing to adjust it good grounds....

Foreign investors are worried about the implications of the new BOG directives on their right to repatriate their profits as permitted in the Ghana Investment Code. Government should come out clarifications on this matter. We cannot bring in millions of our hard earned foreign currency and invest in Ghana and be told we cannot repatriate our profits. We would gladly keep our monies in our countries instead of investing in Ghana only to be told we cannot recoup ourinvestments and transfer them back to our countries in foreign currency. We invest foreign currencies abroad to make and keep foreign currency profits. We do not invest to lock up our monies in currencies like the Cedi which we cannot spend in our countries. We must be told if Ghana no longer requires foreign investments.

When the dongon murdered his way into power, the dollar was 2.7 old cedi. When he left, the dollar was 6,700 old cedis. When Kwesi Botchway announce with smile that those who had the luxury of flying to London for 6,000 cedis were now going to pay 41,000, what he probably failed to realize was that he was devaluing the cedi by the same amount. And when the NDC idiots keep increasing prices and tariffs, what they failed to understand is that they are devaluing the cedi by the same amount. This is what happens when fools rule.
