I haven’t had a good laugh for so long time like lately. The Ghanaian 419 pastors and politicians take on the Cedi’s nose dive of late is miserable to say the least. How can a nation scare away potential investors for eight good months and expect that in this global competition investors will be waiting for you until you are done with your elections litigation? The most annoying part of it is the NPP politicians who have forgotten their colossal contribution to this current economic mess.
But how can one expect something otherwise from the Mate Meho siblings? Like father like son they say. Since the birth of the nation Ghana this group of people have always sabotaged, undermined or blackmailed Ghana anyway you look at it and then the same people turn around to complain. It is the same old trick but sadly enough many Ghanaians fall for it. The NLM/UP/PP/PFP/NPP cohorts piss at your back and tell you it is raining. That is Mate Meho for you.
The NDC government is not doing a better job either with the information politics.
Well, we all know that economics are the job economists so when you hear 419 and charlatan pastors like Duncan, Bempah, Otabil , TB Joshua weighing in on economic matters then you know these crooks are feeling the pinch because their members are no more big spenders like they used to be. How can one pray for the Cedi to rise? That is mind boggling ain’t it. Indeed only the uninitiated and fools in your congregation believe in a such a crap and hogwash. It is like those tricksters who go around telling people that they will double /quadruple/multiply your money. Now if that be case do you think these swindlers will go out in the open? They will keep all to them bloody selves. It is ALL FAKE!
Dear readers the currency market at the stock exchange works differently. You cannot conjure a currency to rise or fall. It is speculators and heavy business tycoons like George Soros who once made the British pound fell by withdrawing his money out of the system. The phenomenon of depreciating currency is not a basket case for Ghana alone. All emerging markets have been affected since the fed of America started tapering. A situation where the fed has started reducing the amount money (85 billion per month bit by bit) pumped into the market to offset the economic recession which was triggered by Lehmann brothers and housing bobbles in 2008 which sent a wave of economic meltdown had the Fed not stepped in the rescue/bail Wall Street.
From A like Argentina, B like Brazil, I like India, T like Turkey, S like South Africa and Z like Zimbabwe all the nations are at the mercy of the Fed tapering which has their prompted their respective governments or head Banks like BoG to cushion the currency or to raise interest rate. So it is just baffling to hear these Kankan Nyame pastors now conjuring the Cedi to raise from it slump. Is not laughable now to hear 419 pastors telling their members to pay in Cedis when before their currency of choice was the dollar? As if Ghana is the only country on the planet earth facing this calamity. In fact the level of ignorance in our dear country in matters of finance and related issues are alarming but here I don’t blame the masses for being held stupid or fools. The Ghanaian in his self pity and lamentation which by the way, is self induced, is always on Ostrich fashion auto pilot.
In a radius of 50 meters you will find ten churches but not a single factory in Ghana. These churches hold our able bodied men and women hostage for 24// and 365 days per year. How can this nation be productive? The good old book says if a man shall not work, he shall not eat. Simply put he who shall not work; shall not eat. In economical terms don’t expect your country to proper when the citizens idle about.
Thessalonians 3:10
Even when we were with you we were giving you this command: “If anyone doesn’t want to work, they shouldn’t eat.” In other words ; He who does not work, neither shall he eat .
If you take the few Cedis you have and give it to the 419 pastor; obviously he gets richer and richer and you wonder why you get poorer and poorer? This is simple arithmetic. If you five Cedis and you take three Cedis out and give it to the pastor you are left with two cedis not five anymore. His prayers will not multiply your money otherwise he would do it for himself. Wake up fellow Ghanaians.
Duncan-Williams, only uninitiated people and fools follow such a crook like you. You are nothing but a dunno.
Brothers and sisters HEAVEN is FREE. Everyone of these charlatan pastors preaching heaven do not want to die. If heaven is so great; why don’t they go first? Those telling you to wait for heaven are not waiting for it but rather they are enjoying their lives under the moon, sun and stars in luxury. So why do we Ghanaians/Africans believe blindly in this hogwash? The odd thing in this entire Christian faith thing is; we are also very superstitious, so who do we serve? GOD or Juju; which way Ghana/Africa?! You cannot serve two masters? It is time to close some of these noise pollution temples and with it their 404 and 419 armpit Bible pastors.
The fault lies with our clueless leaders who run to these churches in droves because they know as much about politics and economics as the man in the moon. Our political landscape is full of "You don't know Jack!" What a shame!

Collins Dauda and your fellow NDC stealers, why are you still in power ?
Unfunny clowns who take advantage of the gullibility of Ghanaians to parade themselves as politicians and then use all fair and foul means to achieve power only to turn around to create, loot and share the national resources and then visit unbearable hardship on the poor citizenry.
And when the citizenry cannot bear the suffering any longer, these unfunny clowns-turned-stealers suddenly begin to use biblical and koranic prophesies to justify their incompetence in power.
It started with Egya Atta telling Ghanaians that God was in charge of adminstration in Ghana.
And now this Burkinabe-turned-Ghanaian without any naturalization papers telling Ghanaians that he and his fellow NDC stealers are not to be blamed for the current mess that the oil producing nation of Maaame/Daaavi Ghana is going through.
Is the proliferation of foreign-owned telephone companies in the country who repartriate their profits in dollars back to the home countries an achievement for any govt to be proud of ?
Are people elected into power to bring hardship into the lives of the governed, or are they elected into power to bring 'sunshine' into the lives of the governed ?

If you have no solution to fix the problem, then the easiest solution is to resign. Yes the bible predicts hard times but not in Ghana alone. So if others are prospering and Ghana and some incompetent governments are struggling then this has nothing to do with the biblical prophesy but rather the incompetence. And if you are a minister then that explains why the whole cabinet is so incompetent.

the govt needs to implement measures that ensure the wealth of the nation remains with the people of the nation and for example introduce measures the discourage the gold mines frome continually siphoning out the money instead of investing in the economy , encourage the establishment of processing plants and factories instead of all these foolish procurement contracts , facilitate the easier return of our diaspora but ensuring a fair judiciary and institutions of state that function instead of all these corrupt sheriffs that only think of themselves . it doesnt matter which party is in power as long as they focus on the unity of the people and avoid anything or action that creates second class citizens . i say nationalise the gold concessions now or there will be a bloody revolution before the year is over and the country will fall apart . bring people who are fair a, competent and have integrity instead of these greedy barstards who lie so much that they themselves dont know what the truth is . stop the tribalism and introduce a system whereby merit and hard work are rewarded instead of all the propaganda mudslinging lies you serve us everyday , in short start to care so the people can show you love

Comrade, Nana Ansah, another 'breeze to the ongoing dollar wave' is that, the crisis is all but over in the states and most of the dollars that find her way into save havens across the globe has simply hit the repatriation tray and now on the straightforward march back to the U.S.A., due to the improvement in the U.S. market. This couple with other encouraging factors has put pressure on the other not so strong currency across the board since all are purged in trade to the dollar. Thank God it happened now, since, a strong measure can be put in place not only to arrest the situation but also curtail the third world’s obsession to this dollarization on everything.
Should they have waited another five years down the line and all would have been doom and gloom for the “dollar conscience countries” which Ghana is a firm candidate. Why am I saying so? Simply! America is busily developing her scale oil and gas reserves and in five years down the line, they will need no help from nobody. Rather, the world will be needing America more than ever. Such is the reason why the Saudi’s and the Emirates are already feeling jittery and are now trying to be goody-goody with Uncle Sam.
NOW, READ FURTHER ON BLOOBERG’S RECENT REPPORT OVER THE STRENGHTENING OF THE DOLLAR AGAINST SOME BAG OF MAJOR CURRENCIES.
The dollar reached a five-year high against the yen on optimism U.S. economic growth will outperform Japan’s next year. The yen declined for an eighth week against the greenback after the Bank of Japan retained its plan to add 60 trillion yen ($574 billion) to 70 trillion yen a year to the monetary base. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index fell from a three-month high reached after the Federal Reserve said this week it would cut monthly bond purchases by $10 billion as economic growth improves. Turkey’s lira weakened to a record as the government purged police leadership to fight against a corruption probe.
“Dollar will perform relatively well in 2014,” Charles St-Arnaud, Canadian economist and foreign-exchange strategist at Nomura Securities International in New York, said in a phone interview. “You should start to see better growth numbers.” The dollar lost 0.1 percent to 104.10 yen at 5 p.m. New York time after appreciating to 104.64, the strongest level since October 2008. The U.S. currency dropped 0.1 percent to $1.3673 per euro after appreciating to $1.3625, the most since Dec. 6. The yen climbed 0.1 percent to 142.32 per euro.
The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index, which tracks the currency against 10 major peers, slipped 0.2 percent to 1,021.34 after reaching 1,025.68, the highest level since Sept. 13.
Real Weakness!
Brazil’s real fell for a third day after the central bank said it’ll cut back on intervention to support the currency. Brazil will auction $200 million of foreign-exchange swaps on trading days from January through at least the end of June, down from offerings of $500 million four days a week this year. The real depreciated 1.3 percent to 2.3874 per U.S. dollar, the worst performance among 24 developing-nation counterparts tracked by Bloomberg.
Most Asian currencies weakened on speculation inflows will slow as the Fed begins curbing stimulus that has fuelled demand for emerging-market assets. Malaysia’s ringgit dropped 0.5 percent to 3.2880 per dollar, the Thai baht fell 0.4 percent to 32.61 per dollar, while Indonesia’s rupiah was little changed after dropping to a five-year low of 12,255.
Euro Reacts
The euro gained against the greenback even after Standard & Poor’s cut the European Union’s long-term rating to AA+ with a stable outlook. The region’s financial profile has deteriorated and “cohesion” among the member states has lessened, the rating company said.
“It seems to have been a short-term negative for the euro,” said Callum Henderson, global head of currency research at Standard Chartered Plc in Singapore. “That said, the times when ratings downgrades had a lasting impact on foreign-exchange rates seem to be a thing of the past.” European Central Bank President Mario Draghi said Dec. 16 that there are risks from long periods of low inflation and policy makers have tools to address this, including “several other instruments on the liquidity front.”
“Euro-dollar will gradually grind lower” to less than $1.30 in a year, said Lee Hardman, a currency strategist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. in London. “Next year, the risk is that the ECB may move to boost liquidity” while the Fed keeps reducing stimulus, he said.
BOJ Meeting. The yen has dropped 0.9 percent since Dec. 13, extending its decline during its eight-week losing streak to 6.7 percent. The U.S. economy will expand 2.6 percent in 2014, while Japan’s gross domestic product will grow 1.6 percent, according to Bloomberg News surveys of economists. BOJ policy makers said after their two-day meeting they will maintain stimulus until annual inflation is stable at 2 percent. The BOJ will examine the risks and make policy adjustments as needed, according to a statement. Most economists surveyed by Bloomberg anticipate the central bank will boost stimulus after the national sales tax is raised in April.
“What you’ve got to recognize is that the justification for tapering is the assumption that the macroeconomic fundamentals in the U.S. are improving,” said Jeremy Stretch, head of currency strategy at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in London. The dollar “looks like it’s still got a bit further to go” against the yen, he said.Turkey’s lira dropped as much as 1.2 percent to 2.0982 per dollar, the weakest since at least 1981. The currency also dropped to a record 2.8681 per euro.
Political Risk!
“Political risk has increased considerably,” said Melih Onder, chairman of Logos Portfoy Yonetimi AS, which manages the equivalent of $90 million. “It took a few days for foreign investors to digest what has happened. This sell off could continue for as long as 10 days.”
The government dismissed 14 department chiefs at the national police, NTV television reported, in addition to some 50 yesterday, according to a Bloomberg HT report. The dismissals came after police detained dozens of people, including the head of a state bank and the sons of three cabinet ministers, in an inquiry into graft. U.S. gross domestic product rose at a 4.1 percent annual rate in the third quarter, the fastest pace since the final three months of 2011, according to a Commerce Department report today. Data due Dec. 23 will show personal income and spending both increased in November, Bloomberg surveys show.
The Fed said after its Dec. 17-18 meeting that it would trim monthly asset purchases to $75 billion from $85 billion. At the same time it reinforced an assurance that interest-rate increases are far off by saying the benchmark rate is likely to stay low “well past the time that the unemployment rate declines below 6.5 percent.” The central bank has kept the target for the federal-funds rate at a range of zero to 0.25 percent since December 2008.

Ghana has nothing to sell to get us foreign excharge that making not have money.
The cedi is not falling, it the country that haven could any money. If the govt gets money today all these cedi falling will stop. If the govt had money they would have bought all we owe. People and governments around the world has stopped help ghana. We could borrow money from them, now they wouldnt give us reasons best known to John Mahama govt and his govt alone.
Ghanaians should know how serious our economy is failing. Its not the govt who should help the economy but all ghanaians at this stage of economy down fall.
Chinese loads failed John Mahama govt, they put all their eggs in one busket and the busket fail the eggs. The loans the govt was expecting did not come thru and no backup was in place. Our cedi will continue going down but very slowly if the govt agree they have fail. 2016 the economy will starting recovering. Ghanaians shouldnt really be worried about the cedi, ghana has been there 6 times, Rawlings free fall of the cedi was the suffering ghanaians ever had, the time cedi was just a piece of paper like toilet rolls.
The country dont have money, the cedi dont import rice, the govt who only know how to import goods. The small the country sell goes in paying loans and filling pockets.
Ghana is getting nothing from oil, Gold and Cocoa, ghana owe and is paying back.
This is to tell us how much corruption has been going on in the country. Lets ghanaians know their money is been stolen by companies and govts. How can you sell oil to someone you owe, how are you going to do the work without the money I owe him.
We are not doing the right thing JM.
Ghana has to stop paying loan off until the economy comes back in a better position in the world market.

This is what happened, we are living witnesses. JJ came to stop the economic slide. The "noble giant" kuffour took over and made Ghana one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Mills was gravely ill but this was kept secrete by his vice president[Mahama], Asiedu Nketia and the rest of NDC gurus who took advantage to rape the country. Their focus is how to make the NDC strong financially and politically. We now have millionaires and even billionaires in the country who walk on two legs with the rest of us on all 4. How can the economy improve when these few people have all the money and do not spend in the country, they shop outside{London, Paris, Saudi Arabia etc.} I am not TB Joshua the con man but I can predict that the economy will continue to slide till the military step in to save the situation.

Dauda simply affirms that fears and doubts many a Ghanaian that Mahama-led Ghana gov't has lost it completely regarding the grave economic mess into which they have deeply plunged the nation and lives of millions. Quoting Qu'ran and the Bible to defend the current situation as Dauda has done, to say the least, is arrogantly stupid and insensitive. You have gov't senselessly overspending in the past two years with nothing tangible to show to justify such dubious over-expenditure without Parliamentary approval. There are serious cases of corruption in gov't businesses and projects; gov't has become a syndicate that creates, loots and shares monies even for no work done. Gov't can't explain why it supervised such criminality against its own citizens through an unprecedented wastage and corruption. Ghanaians don't deserve to be in hopelessness of a situation due reckless abandon and stealing, coupled with both half-truths and untruths from gov't. It's so so disheartening Dauda would comment in a manner like this. He knows himself is useless at the ministry he heads but he has to continue to enjoy the monies and the freebies. It's a shame and a slap in the face of Ghanaians. Dauda must remember that evil-doers won't always have a field day. Now it's clear we have a bunch of incompetent and arrogant people at the helm of affairs. Blame the masses and the SC.

The ecominy is in shambles,to the glory of the incompetence of John Mahama and his NDC looting brigade.
Is anybody listening? Sack president Mahama from office, and advertise the vacant position in the dailies for competent people to apply. Now the writing is clear on the wall.
The late prof. Mills was far far competent than Mahama. He has shifted to reverse gear, and the state vehicle is at the edge of a precipice, and anything can happen to this country before June 2014.
The only likely thing left for president Mahama to do now is to auction Ghana on the international market as a commodity.

Since when did Alhaji Dauda get this revelation?
This is what every Ghanaian from all over the world has been saying till date, that John Mahama and Amissah Arthur are clueless and lack the ability to fix the economy and move the country forward. And what did he do, he appropriated all the money in the national kitty via create, loot and share to remain in power AT ALL COST, and now see where that has landed Ghana.
The NDC gov't led by John Mahama and Amissah Arthur cannot do it but the issue is, are they going to perpetrate the same reckless stealing again, to REMAIN IN POWER AT ALL COST, or they would respect the verdict of the people and step aside, for a competent team to take over and move Ghana in the right direction?
Until the NDC gov't is sent packing, Ghana is going nowhere, period.

I trace the whole problem to illiteracy. Ghanaians have condemned learning and speaking English to the extent that they don't want to even hear anybody speak English, which is the language of instruction, in public. A lot of Ghana folks even working at the public institutions refuse to use English even if they are not sure of where the listener is coming from. If you are black, then you must speak or understand Twi.A lot of taxi drivers and public transport drivers etc cannot read, speak or write English. How do they interpret road signs? People refuse to learn now, because they can get their ways out easily using Twi. What about Gas, Dagbanis, Ewes etc? Most people from these tribes who can't speak Twi are intimidated at some public places. If we are reluctant to learn English, how best can we do international trade? Our neighboring countries use a kind of English which every Tom, Dick and Harry can speak and use to easily communicate with foreigners. If you speak English in Ghana, you are either cheated or ignored by many. If we go illiterate, it will affect our growth in many sectors including sanitation. Well, that is my observation. If you can interpret documents, some dude will interpret it for you and ditch you. Let us be aware. PERIOD!

Ghana has defended its decision to limit foreign exchange withdrawals in a bid to halt the slide in its currency the cedi.
Foreign currency account holders have been limited to withdrawals of $10,000 (£6,000), which must be supported by evidence of an overseas trip.
The cedi has fallen to a record low in recent days.
Central Bank governor Kofi Wampah has also raised interest rates to 18% to attract more investment.
Ghana is the latest emerging markets whose currency has fallen recently.
The value of the South African rand has hit record lows, while currencies in Turkey and India have also been hit.

Analysts say investors have switched away from emerging markets since the US Federal Reserve scaled back its stimulus programme.
Ghana has also been hit by falls in the prices of its two major exports - gold and cocoa.
The cedi has lost about 23% of its value over the past year.
Government critics say the problems have been exacerbated by high public spending and mismanagement - charges the government denies.
It has started to earn money from offshore oil fields but analysts say much of this is being used to repay foreign loans.
The BBC's Sammy Darko in the capital Accra says the freefall of the cedi has led to desperate measures by government and even some of the clergy.
Last week, renowned cleric Archbishop Duncan Williams prayed for the national currency to start rising in value.
"I command the resurrection of the cedi," he told worshippers at his Action Faith Chapel in Accra.
Our correspondent says many Ghanaians are concerned about price rises, which will be made worse by Thursday's interest rate hike.
In addition to the limit of foreign exchange withdrawals, Mr Wampah said banks would not be allowed to grant loans in foreign currencies to customers who are only paid in cedis.
"The main purpose of this regulation is to ensure that we continue to use the cedi as the legal tender," he said.
But one forex trader in Accra told our reporter that the limit would not be effective.
"If someone brings in $20,000 to change, who would turn it down?" asked the trader, who wished to remain anonymous.
But Mr Wampah warned forex traders they had to follow the new rules or be "dealt with".
"For the forex bureaux, the issues are bordering on anti money-laundering... Ghana was black listed in 2012 because of our laxity."
"We also require more identification when purchasing or selling to forex bureaux and we also request them to computerise so that it will be easier for our supervisors to verify what they are doing."
He said plain clothes inspectors would be sent to check on the bureaux.

"IN THE ABUNDANCE OF WATER THE FOOL, STILL REMAINS THIRSTY".
How can any of the two useless parties staring from the PNDC era, ever fix our economy? We have all the human and rich natural resources bestowed unto us by the Almighty God!!!! And yet we live in ABJECT POVERTY!
And not forgetting our OWN PEOPLE who are sooooooo entrenched in CORRUPTION, so much so that, even our children are also at it. There many examples in Ghana today that, I can't even have the time to go through them. Our ministries, our market places, schools etc. and many others are so entrapped in the evil devices that, we make " our church and mosque going", look like a joke to non-believers.
Are we Ghanaians for real???? We hate each other so much but, love foreigners and direct them to loot our rich natural resources on the cheap and then turn round to complain.
GOD BLESS GHANA!

PRESIDENTS ALONE CANNOT FIX THE ECONOMY!!! "Fixing" the economy like "fixing the currency" is no easy task. The variables involved are myriad and complex. Many things must work together. The best one can do is to create an environment that fosters investment, implement policies that address the delicate balance between free fluctuation of the currency and protection of the currency, find that range of currency fluctuation that best fits the needs of Ghanaians (there are times when a relatively weak currency is best), etc., etc., etc.. The currency, while not in the best of shape, is not in a "free fall" as some have suggested. All the arguing and back-biting only signal to the world that Ghana is in distress over it.

This is boo. Ghana is not the only country in the world. Why is it that other countries sipuch as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, U.S, Dubai, Japan, etc are having economic boom? That is not clearly the case but it is lack of foresight and incompetence on the part of NDC government. The hardship the Boble talks about in the end times has nothing to do with economic growth but wars, rumors of wars,Meath quakes etc, that is what the Bible talks about. If NDC is ready to accept their inefficiency, they should tell us and throw in the towel for a competent government to take over. Any sensible and reasonable government would have resigned. This is what NDC should do to save this nation from total collapse.

Where did this President get his ministers from? First it was Kwakye Ofosu who was of the opinion that a know-nothing politician can fix the economy much better than a technocrat from the Bank of Ghana. Then it was the Ambassador-Designate who felt that it was unintelligent to even suppose that the terrible state of the economy is the result of mismanagement; then this guy decides to bring the house down by claiming that this state of the economy was foretold by both the Bible and the Quran and is evidence that Ghana is in the end-times. And then there is the female who will quit politics only after making $1 million. You just cannot make this up. But for the fact that this is the fate of a whole nation, it would have been a perfect script for a comedy.

This NINOs - NDC in Name Only members - have lost some screws in their coconut heads. End times as a reflection of economic policies? Mahama is incapable of running Ghana and solving our problems and must do the honorable thing of resigning before is too late. What a bunch of fools who he calls his ministers. It only take strong leadership, honesty, and self control to be able to lead a country. You guys are thinking of fleecing Ghana and not running the country. how do you expect to have solutions to these small problems facing the economy of Ghana with men like Collins Duada running Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing,? The president could not ensure that a little mining company from South Africa and other companies will pay their fair share of profits or corporate tax to Ghana. Why is he being paid to lead the country then? Selective enforcement of the tax laws, where then does Ghana rake in monies to pay for essential services those mining companies are refusing to pay? A president who has lost his self confidence will allow the use of national assets like Presidential plane to be flow by a chief who wants to be called his majesty, as if he is skimming to succeed from Ghana and form his own state. How do we solve nationl problems with incompetent men in a country called Ghana? Jerry Rawlings whom some of you insinuated that he was just a 5th form leaver managed to lead Ghana for nineteen years with great measure of decent and noble changes for the good of Ghana. Can't you "third generation" of crooked NDC Ministers look to Jerry as a great thing that ever happened to Ghana after Nkrumah? PNP off-shoot who have joined NDC with wicked agenda to resurrect the none performing Limman's image. This is what we have as a nation. Men who could produce a guinea foul from SADA now want to run Ghana. How is that possible? Ghana has men to run this country away from this false and dome's day prophets. Religious fanatics calling themselves ministers. When you allow foreign and abominable cultural invasion of one's country, this is what will befall us. Homosexuality has come to our domestic tables. When growing up, talking of sex before your parents was a no go area. So-called Liberalism. This is your NDC in name only officials. Tweeaaaa ke! Over to you NDC and the good people of Ghana. They are clueless and must be sacked from office.

A president mobilizes his people in times of need, challenges and war and not junket around the world at the least opportune time when average Ghanaians can't afford one square meal a day. Stop the unnecessary travels around the world with no positive results. Where in lies your leadership, Mr President? Nigerian banks have been allowed unfettered access into Ghana at a rate which does not correspond to any foreign owned bank in our history. Where do you think the stress on the dollar demand is coming from? Every one is being allowed entry into Ghana without the necessary checks. They come, change their cedis into forex and the demand for the Dollar being elestic, has come to its breaking point.More dollars equals a less valuable dollar. A declining dollar causes all things denominated in dollars (gold, oil, corn) to rise. The dollar is going to be declining farther with the advent of QE3, so says Jim Willie a monetary economist who has predicted. this is econ 101 and not dome-duada's juju economics.
