In educated circles, Ghana, the name that Kwame Nkrumah bestowed on our dear country on the eve of the independence which he won for us and the rest of Africa, only came into being on the 6th March 1957. Again, at the time Kwame Nkrumah was born, there was no Ghana in existence but, for the information of your hopelessly incurable state of ignorance, there was indeed what was referred to as the Gold Coast. Now since it is clearly evident that you have not recovered from your slave mentality, you probably think that those two names are just names describing a country at different periods of history and nothing else. The Gold Coast was a land mass in Africa that was being dominated and oppressed by a tyrannical British imperialist dictatorship. Ghana on the other hand, is a country that gained freedom, justice and independence in 1957 from a despotic alien country and went on from there to establish the first democratic independent state in the history of Black Africa.

However, within 5 years upon the entry of Kwame Nkrumah, every man, woman or child of school-going age, was in one kind of educational institution or the other under Nkrumahs compulsory cradle-to-grave free education system.

In addition, every Ghanaian enjoyed an absolutely free health delivery system at any govt health facility which Kwame Nkrumah had caused to be built throughout the country. Even those who enslaved us and stole our mineral wealth under despotic coercion for several hundred years could not use the proceeds to give their own citizens these privileges that Nkrumah gave us. And you say Kwame Nkrumah did nothing? What or who are you comparing your 'Kwame Nkrumah did nothing' to?

1. Party affiliations
2.Monetary inducement
3. Tribal bias
4. Religious considerations

What happened to attributes such as competence,experience character and integrity.

When JJ came to power, you could see some arrogance within the Ewe lot. The Ashantis made it worse when Kufour sprang up. About 90% of Ewes never saw anything wrong with some of JJ's bad policies and governance. The 10% of Ewes were the ones dancing their way into NPP camp. No wonder one of them faced JJ over the issue of "dzimakpla." (I stand for correction.) It has become common knowledge that the 10% Ashantis who saw something wrong with Kufour's governance and still do, are in bed with the NPP.

Nana Amoateng made some brilliant comments about thinking that democracy makes you think you have a stake in the country's democratic process. But do we have have a stake in the country's resources?? People who have genuinely contributed towards their retirement with SSNIT cannot have access to their own monies. As there is nobody from the opposition to fight for you says it all. Let's take the TDC demolition issue for example. Check out how the NDC in parliament are in total agreement of the demolition, whilst majority of the NPP are in arms with the victims.

Compare that to the leaders today who think they are smart--too smart to think Ghanains are fools.

Ghanains are rather cowards. The wise leader Ghana has ever had is Rawlings who killed innocent people on the pretext of corruption but became more corrupt than those he killed. He was able to educate his children abroad. None of those he killed did that. Today he boasts of that and Ghanains still applaud for him.

Ghana under Nkrumah used to be "forward ever, backward never." Now under these no-nothing corrupt MPs and ministers, Ghana now is: "forward never, backward ever."

WOW, I love this man, Dr. Lloyd Amoah, He's amazing. We have a lot of issues that we (Africans) have to accept and deal with them in order for us to eradicate the problems at hand. But some people will argue otherwise. You see, it hurts to see our leaders travel aboard for medical cares when abandon their own to deteriorate to mold. These leaders are not even of ashamed of themselves, they also want people to know. But nothing really occurs to them to make their own comfortable and better to other foreign nationals to see. These idiots' leaders continue to deprive Ghanaians the basic infrastructure and continue to spend the loan money that were meant for those projects for a piece of ass. Hence, it has become a habit of many, to send their kids to overseas to acquire a better education since they don't believe anymore of what they have instituted themselves, leaving the impoverished ones to perish.
You see, some of us have stuck on stupidity that we are still ruling by egocentrism and tribalism ideology that we have unfortunately become victimized by them. These are still causing us a lot of problems because we refuse to find a common ground of compromise. Whilst the people that brought divisions and inferiority complex perspectives are unified.
One of the readers, John, have just responded to your article but it seems that he is lost. Some of people can not change because they like to see confusion in order for them to operate. I suggest you leave him alone don't reply to his stupidity analysis. Keep up the good work , Dr. Amoah.

A tropical country blessed wit rivers, lakes and arable land, but is the second biggest importer of tomatoes in the whole world.

What gave me hope was the supreme court verdict when the politicians tested us and found out that nobody had kept even a stone to fight his/her fellow Ghanaian. That kept them thinking, and still do.

A careful examination of Ghana's quest for socioeconomic development has been a circuitous journey to democratize our political system of government(a correction of Nkrumah's dictatorial government) and privatization of our economic system(a correction of Nkrumah's socialism mania).This is the misfortune that Dr. Nkrumah's dreadful CPP has implanted in Ghana's history.

Secondly, our situation was made worse by our lack of development money and we had to rely on our donors to mislead us and impoverish us. Hence, our education, health, roads and other infrastructures suffer.

We cannot blame our past leaders for that suffering but our donors who held the gun at our heads to take it.

Now that we have resource oil dollar our leaders must play the dramatic change game and tackle inequality too.

Dr Llyod Amoah is a China-Ghana analyst. He must also critically advise on the Ghana China situation so that China should not take Africa for a ride and for granted.

Governments, especially NDC thinks Ghanaians are FOOLS and as such they can take us for a ride. I pity Ghanaians especially those of our brothers in the North. They keep voting for this NDC on subsequent elections but they have nothing to show for it for them. They are among the poorest regions in the country. Common sickness afflicting them are ignored for people outside the country, U.S. to come in and travel to save those lives and the government do not even say anything about it. It is like they are always turning their eyes from them as if they are not citizens while they and their families travel overseas to take care of themselves when they are sick and leave us the poor to die. Even when they say they have built a whole hospital at Bawku, it took Dr. Barwumiah to go there to visit the site to prove that not even a block had been laid. I think the people of the north should think about their loyalty to NDC and change their voting pattern for government that is sensitive to their plight to come and rescue them. For our brothers in the Volta region, the least said the better. They have taken them for a ride for a long time because of presumed "world bank". NDC believed even if they put up, please excuse my language, "a dog" to contest in any pert of the region, he will win and as such elects incompetent people to lead the people. The supposed Volta University is nothing to write home about. After so many years of deceit they have acquired old buildings as the campus of this university and recently the Vice Chancellor, Professor Binka openly confessed that they cannot even pay their lecturers and the construction of the permanent campus is being hampered by lack of materials for the Chinese company to continue. NDC deceived Ghanaians to believe that the inflation in the country was in a single digit knowing very well they were using the wrong formula. When this was detected and the whistle was blown, they started using the right formula, and the results is the over 13% inflation we are having currently and still counting. They promise year after year the "better Ghana" is on course, but what do we see? Now they are talking about 2014 being the best ever; we live to see! What a deceit! It is true that they are deceiving us and the earlier they are shown the exit the better.

President Mahama has oil money to support his development agenda and allow him at least three years to lead and implement the agenda.

President Mahama is now focussed on building the Ghana and the ECOWAS infrastructure. Ghana market alone is not big enough for the Ghana industrialization vision.

Just see the reaction on this forum, people turn such an important topic to insult NDC, NPP whereas its wake-up call. why cant we learn and come together and fight for what belong to us? My people, WHY??? why this tribal insult? when we behave like this, it shows we are FOOLs, idiots as the politicians take us for!! People are missing the point. This is not about Mahama alone, it is about our politicians. They take us for fools. When they get the opportunity they don't act like they talk when they are in opposition. They lay patiently by the side seeking what they will devour when they come to power, after which they bahave hypocritically. The chief of them all is Rawlings. All that money he has now where did he get it from? Kufour and his cohorts, where did they get all their millions from? Prof Mills' boys who have never had any work experience, where did they get the tons of GHS and US$ to build their mansions and posh buy the posh cars? And now Mahama, it is even worse. Are they not wolves in sheep skin sucking the blood of the ordinary Ghanaians? They are all together the cause of what it is in Ghana today. But a day is coming, and it will be soon when then hungry Ghanaian will arise like it happened in the Arab Spring and the thieves can not run away to enjoy their undeserved booty. Mark it on the wall.
