Folks,do you remember the PIRAM saga some years ago where thousands of Ghanaian lost their savings in a similar manner? The Bank of Ghana should step up its operations to check the activities of these micro-finance companies.

It's my hope and prayer that Mrs. Ampah does not commit suicide like one Microfinace Owner hanged himself at Kronom Kwapra in Kumasi recently becos of pressure from customers. I nearly started Microfinance on my return to Ghana in 2007, but for the collapse of the existing ones and advice I recived, I stopped--Today, I could have been in same situation--May God save the owners and also help the clients of the fallen Microfinace companies in Ghana. We only wait to see what will happen to Noble Dream as the remaining Microfiance company in Kumasi.

All all the Micro Finance companies in Ashanti Region have collapsed. Noble Dream is the only one surviving now, but how long will Noble Dream survive, esp. if customers troop in for their monies!!!!

Are innocent victims of some 'evil' machinations of some invisible hand.
Nothing could be farther from the truth! Many of the principals behind these operations, are crooked individuals, with questionable pasts, who set out to dupe greedy savers. With the amount of information available about the banking/finance sector,[esp, the nature and level of competition],who could many of these new entrants hope to survive by offering unrealistic interest rates, coupled with all the giveaways weconstantly hear about in daily commercials? These 'slick' operators put out the bait, knowing quite well that there are still greedy depositors, who will bite!

True, no bank,on its own,can with stand a run on it. But I do not believe that we are dealing with a catastrophic[Enron-like]situation here, because other MF outfits are active, alive and kicking. And I do not suppose the Lord Winners Microfinance Company is a target of a malious rumour for a possible take-over by the competition,is it?
I am aware that many of companies engaged in ativities far more reckless than dealing in derivaties, hoping to make outrageous returns like 300-400%! How can expect to survive, when you purposefully take on 'loans'even the regular banks will not touch with a ten-foot pole? In some instances that I am aware of,other people savings are turned over to friends or acquaintances with nothing more than a simple handshake!

Hold the appetite of greedy depositors in check, who,as you pointed out, should have realized that there is nothing like a 'free lunch',in today`s world! Where did these depositor`s think these poorly run "Susu" collection agencies were goin to get the funds to pay those sky-high interests, with additional bonuses of microwaves, toaters, plasma tv sets, etc?
About 4 months ago, when the BoG cracked the whip on '419' operators who had entered the sector,we all saw how the general public was mobilized and turned against it[the BoG]by these fraudsters and their friends in the media. These greedy depositors have only themselves to blame;but nobody else!

ALSO GIVE THE LOWER LEVEL STAFF AN IMMUNITY TO TESTIFY AND TELL LAW OFFICIALS WHERE THESE GUYS ARE HIDING. FURTHERMORE, SET AN EXAMPLE OF THEM BY LONG TERM PRISON SENTENCES SO THAT NO ONE WOULD COME AND DEFRAUD THESE HARD WORKING CITIZENS. THE FACT THAT SOMEONE CAME TO YOUR OFFICE WITH EGGS DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD CLOSE YOUR BUSINESS AND BOLT WITH THEIR MONEY. THAT IS THE MOST LAMED EXCUSE I HAVE EVER HEAD.
