Otherwise how could we have voted Prez Mahama rather a visionary, hard working and incorruptible Nana Akuffo Addo.

Unfortunately, Ghana do not have men with testicular fortitude like Nkrumah to achieve this second phase for us so we might be the last in a long years to come to achieve this.
THE FIRST SHALL BE THE LAST, AND THE LAST, SHALL BE THE FIRST.
Those who rather gained their independence in the 80s and 90s have more understanding of the devil and the enemies of Africa which Ghanaians have welcomed with open arms due to our laziness.
Come think of it, we did not really fought for our independence the way southern African nations did. It was given almost on a silver platter.

Our leaders Seeming Impotence in taking decisions to protect our national interests,I think must be due to their lack of solid information from solid comparative strategic industrial research that guides governmental policies.President,s behaviour at the Davos Forum is an indication of his lack of solid policy knowledge and statistical and historical informationon on which to base a solid argument for in our national interest.Remember, US leaders when they talk of their national interest, they really mean business. They will even go to war to defend their national interest. They do not whine or complain to anybody. Can you immagine a western leader talking at an international forum and just whining instead of arguing forcefully on policy in favour of their national interest. Our government if they will be taken seriouly any where should establish strong institutions that will research international best practices in collaboration with other extrative industrial economies in the developing world to be able to present a formidable united policy front in a proactive manner as a framework on which to defend our nations interest. One doesnt just have to say anything on the international stage without prior policy planning in solidarity with like minded countries confronted by similar economic dialema period.Consider Botswana after independence and the solid long term devlopment plan on a major mineral-diamonds
that enabled this country to make solid, dependable economic strides for national devlopment. Why dont we send experts to Botswana to learn what they did right instead of doing the wrong things over and over again on all our minerals, mindful that these are depletable national assets. Please Mr President, act fast, for oppotunity knocks but once. Gov’t confirms suspension of windfall tax
Gold is in a long-term circular bull market but facing a short-term cyclical bear market WORLDWIDE (I simply haven't got the time to define these important terms here- anyone interested can look up their definitions for themselves).Suffice it to say,the price of Gold and consequently investment in gold mining shares and operations has dropped WORLDWIDE.This is only going to be very short term WORLDWIDE. THE NOTION THAT THE DECLINE IN THE STOCK PRICES IS CAUSED BY THE ATTEMPTS TO INTRODUCE A WINDFALL TAX IN GHANA IS AN OUTRAGEOUS LIE AND IS A CHEAP ATTEMPT BY GHANA BASED COMPANIES TO FRIGHTEN OF GOVERNMENT.Let me repeat this, the drop in stock prices / quotes of gold mining companies is temporary and WORLDWIDE in nature and nothing to do with the plans to impose a windfall tax ( which by definition is put in place during bull markets). It is reasonable to expect the government to SUSPEND this windfall tax FOR THE TIME BEING. Our policy makers must stay well informed of what is happening within the gold market so as not to allow greedy companies to take advantage of the country.THE CURRENT DROP IN THE PRICE OF BULLION IS VERY TEMPORARY. GOLD IS IN A LONG-TERM (CIRCULAR) UPTREND. I am a long-term gold investor myself and very well acquainted with the industry.By all means it makes sense for the Ghana government to SUSPEND the windfall tax (temporarily). Any attempt by foreign companies to frighten the government into permanently abandoning the windfall tax should be ignored.

THE WINDFALL TAX IS A SMALL SCRATCH ON THE SURFACE OF THE AMOUNT WHICH SHOULD ACCRUE TO GHANA.IN THE FIRST PLACE WHO OWNS THE GOLD IN THE GROUND.NOW IF GHANA OWNS THE GOLD AND SOMEBODY COMES TO DIG THE GOLD,HOW DO YOU SHARE THE PROCEEDS? IN THE PAST THE VALUE OF THE GOLD IN THE GROUND IS CONSIDERED ALMOST ZERO.THAT IS WHY THE SO CALLED INVESTOR TAKES ALMOST EVERYTHING LEAVING A PITTANCE FOR THE COUNTRY.THIS PITTANCE IS IN THE FORM OF ROYALTIES AND TAXES ETC BUT NOTHING IS SAID ABOUT OWNERSHIP RIGHTS DUE TO THE LAND OWNER ie GHANA. ROYALTIES RELATE TO COMPENSATION TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THE MINING OPERATION.BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SHARE VALUE OF THE GOLD BEFORE THE MINING OPERATION.THAT SHARE IS THE OWNERSHIP RIGHTS I AM REFERING AND THIS MUST BE CONSIDERED IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE PROCEEDS OTHERWISE OUR INDEPENDENCE BECOMES MEANINGLESS.THIS SHARE MUST BE DETERMINED EVEN BEFORE THE MINING OPERATION STARTS.THIS SHARE IS GHANAS CONTRIBUTION TO THE WHOLE BUSINESS,AND IT MUST BE ACKNOWLEDGED APPROPRIATELY.WHILST SOME PEOPLE SUGGEST 10-15% I WOULD PROPOSE NOTHING LESS THAN 50%.THE COLONIAL DAYS ARE GONE AND WE MUST REASSERT OUR SOVEREIGNTY NOW OR FORGET ABOUT PROJECT GHANA.

I side with you that the COLONIAL DAYS ARE FAR GONE.
If we've been cheated from the colonial days till now, where lies our freedom, then?
WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF FREEDOM?
MAHAMA SHOULD DEFINE IT TO ALL GHANAIANS.
MAHAMA should develop and use the KILLER INSTINCT,OTHERS LACKED,EXCEPT NKRUMAH,to deal with these CROOKS,BULLY CHEATS,FOREIGN MINING COMPANIES.
We have to make profit on the natural resources GOD has given us.
The GOLD IS OURS THEREFORE,WE HAVE TO REALIZE SOMETHING BENEFICIAL TO STAND ON IN OUR DEVELOPMENT,ELSE,IT DOES NOT WORTH IT.
PAUL KRUGER's killer instinct and plain message has to be given to these foreign miners:
EITHER THEY OBEY THE LAW OR PACK AND GO.FOR,IT IS BETTER WE PRESERVE THE GOLD,FOR OUR CHILDREN,RATHER TO WASTE IT FOR VIRTUALLY NOTHING.
At least GHANA HAS TO ACCRUE NOT LESS THAN 50% OF THE WHOLE VALUE OF THE GOLD.
Why are these GOLD MINING COMPANIES NOT PACKING TO GO,IN THE PHASE OF THE LOWER WORLD MARKET PRICE ON GOLD?
Are they losing to the extent that it doesn't worth it operating in the business?
MAHAMA should ask himself all such quality questions before finding a way to attack them and make some BUCKS FOR GHANA.
They will always cheat us with vain threats of laying off our workers, because they have realized,we have no other alternative to create jobs for our citizenry.
Secondly the business negotiators would lose their KICKBACKS they receive from these FOREIGN MINING COMPANIES.
All,at the detriment of the poor, unfortunate, helpless whole masses.
Therefore, the POLITICIANS ARE ALSO A PART OF THE WHOLE PROBLEM.
Mahama should draw the FINE LINE IN THE SAND:
Is he introducing the WINDFALL TAX FOR THE WORKERS TO BE LAID OFF,and use some to compensate the laid off workers or what?
WE HAVE TO CONSIDER AND KNOW THE LONG TERM EFFECT,THE TWO ARE GOING TO HAVE ON THE ECONOMY OF GHANA.
If the workers could be compensated both by the MINING COMPANIES & THE GOVERNMENT as well,to find something else to do with it,then in the long round,I think it could be a win-win situation for Ghana to implement the WINDFALL TAX,rather than relaxing and settling for mediocrity,in response to the vain threats of these foreign mining bullies, cheats, crooks,to lay off our workers.

When it comes to preserving and wisely harnessing our National Assets, we should not be partisan but firm and honest in pursuing the very best interests of the Nation and her children.
This is what Arthur Kennedy should have done long time ago, at least, beginning with the transferring of Oboasi Goldmines back to the Europeans via South Africa, and the controversial handing over of our Petroleum resources to Kosmos-EO Partnership.
I fully support viable business partnership with the foreign investors to tap into our resources. That is a vital part of what Capitalism is all about. But when we always end up with the short end of the stick, it hurts us all and our posterity. This is not a partisan ranting. It is a reminder of what we have been long telling everyone to join in.
If Arthur Kennedy means what he says here, I would say, it is a big plus for him in his efforts to regain much of his political clout in Ghana. Now, he speaks our language. He should do more and stay the course for helping Ghana regain real control over her National Assets.

What is negotiation?
It is the ability to change the opinion of others, through the climate of favour, instead of force.
Negotiation begins at birth:
Babies cry for different reasons at different times:
When they are wet, hungry, thirsty, sick, hot or cold, uncomfortable, feels sleepy etc.
Negotiation could also be defined as:
Discussing with a view to reaching an agreement.
The decision of others could affect one's circumstance. The salesman decides whether you purchase the car at his price or yours.
You cannot avoid the negotiating table.Everyone pursues something he really desire.Needs vary as well as desires.
Every negotiator will have different viewpoint, needs, experience, focus and the reward he receives in its totality. No one does business to wish loses but gains.
Integrity, the passion to win, uncompromising attitude/stance,strategy,selflessness,plain and truthfulness are all needed in negotiation.
Obviously, the level of desire, integrity varies:Some will achieve their goal by killing others, lie, steal, will even terminate their friendship with others, only to win in a negotiation.
Some will even risk their own health or entire fortune,to achieve something else they desire,in negotiation.
The question is?
WHAT IS MAHAMA DOING TO SAFEGUARD OUR AILING MINING DEALS WITH FOREIGN MINING COMPANIES,WHOSE AIM IS TO CHEAT,BULLY,EXPLOIT OUR GOD-GIVEN PRECIOUS METALS,FOR VIRTUALLY,PENNIES IN RETURN?

They shut up, accepted the new taxes and are still operating in those countries without carrying out the threat to throw workers out. Mahama must know this through our Embassies or High Commissions in the two countries. We laugh at Mugabe but his type of strong leadership is what we need in Ghana. We do not need a whinnying President who admits helplessness before foreign mining companies instead of acting decisively in the interest of our country. This AKONFEM of a President is the weakest leader this country has ever seen.

It was the great KWAME Nkrumah who once said that 'The secret of life is to have no fear'. Our leaders have no stomach to fight neo colonialism and they ear the Whitman'.
The most revolutionary statement in the 2000 NPP manifesto was the one on making Ghana self sufficiency in poultry. It took one telephone from the British High Commissioner to president Kufour for the NPP to shelf that excellent policy. It would have created thousands of jobs may be a million? For further information on what the nationalist Dr. Kennedy is writing about see: Neo colonialism, the last stage of imperialism, 1965 by KWAME Nkrumah. This book is a must read for all Africans. Sadly, after the publication of this book that the North American power, West Germany, Britain decided Nkrumah had to be removed. Good evening.

These gold producers pay their expatriate employees stratospheric amounts of money compared to the Ghanaians. If they really want to cut costs, they must fire these expatriates because that is where maximum cost savings can be derived. The country will be far better off if we simply stop mining the minerals and leave it for a future generation that can mine these minerals and add value to it. Simply allowing foreigners to cart away our raw materials have been an economic disaster for years.

Let me mirror down to Prez Mahama, this country belongs to ghanaians and it is time to make a decision that will benefit all Ghanaians in a long term but a selected few. I will advise u mr president to go ahead to implement the tax that will propel the country and make sure that any worker that will be laid off is paid all the compensation due them in full. This giant step will curtail all the bragging and threats by these companies whose aim is to rid us off our natural resources.

He told them his terms for continued operations in his country as leader and when the american oil companies did not agree he kicked them out nationalised the oil companies and today the American oil companies are dying to go back.
When another American oil company operated in Russia did not agree to Russian government terms they were kicked out; contract abrogated and another oil company came in its place.
Mahama would rather carry a begging bowl to ask western countries to donate pittance to help balance its budget when he can simply tell the foreign companies to pay up or get kicked out. Instead as a leader of Ghana he and his ministers have now become apologists and front men for foreign companies because of the bribes they can get; Okudzeto Ablakwa, for example fronting isofoton to take a legal case against the company out of court to settle when in fact Ghana did not owe anything to isofoton; his only interest is his bribe or percentage.
With such leadership where will Ghana end up - being economically neo colonised. NONSENSE LEADERS GHANA HAS TODAY WITH NO BALLS TO FIGHT FOR GHANA BUT WITH PUSSIES TO GRATIFY THEIR OWN DESPICAPLE DESIRES.

John Mahama and his NDC team is grossly very much unsuited for the serious job and task of governance. For an Nkrumahist party, which would trumpet the ideals of Nkrumahism at the least opportunity bordering on populism at the local front, this spineless admission of John Mahama is most certainly not the kind of leadership, Ghanaians of varying shapes and shades of political persuasion and opinion, would want to hear from John Mahama, more so at such a forum. Is he trying to court sympathy, is he trying to raise issue with foreign interest whose business interests do not inure to our benefit or what? For a country which would enact laws and have a President who would exhibit such weak leadership is most unfortunate, more so when the masses are looking for a gov't that would take the bull by the horns and ensure that, the needs of the citizenry are met. The boldness required of leadership in an era where it is aptly described as "Africa's century" is sadly lacking and completely absent in this NDC gov't led by John Mahama, in Ghana. This century is Africa's century and Ghanaians would have to look at entrusting their mandate to a gov't team that is ready to lead, show the bold leadership, the visionary leadership, the can do spirit of leadership, the mentally focused leadership, the brain and brawn to leapfrog Ghana's and indeed Africa's quest to join the comity of developed countries on the back of all the positive factors which makes Ghana and Africa, the next and last major growth pole. 2016 presents a major crossroad which most definitely would determine whether Ghana is ready to take it's rightful place and assert it's mandate as a consequence of the masses inherent hunger for socio-economic development and growth, and we hope Ghana makes the right choice in 2016, to move away from this sad state and spectacle of affairs.

Mahama does not get it. In case he does not know the party he is leading, it is called NDC.
A party of soldiers, police men, palm wine tappers, artisans, kayaye, Makola mammies, ordinary folks, teachers, miners, fishermen, farmers, lawyers, professionals, intellectuals, bankers, and all nationalists. NDC by its very foundation eschews tribalism, nepotism, corruption and bribery. The party does not encourage” pay to play.” This is a party that stood on its principles inspite of external pressures from western world to abandon the course it was pursuing to rescue Ghana from the brink. John Mahama, it is not worth crying baby cry out side Ghana only to kowtow to the whims of the mining conglomerates from paying their ‘fair share’ of the tax due Ghana government from the booming gold sales. This style of your leadership is called “leading from behind.” How do you drive from behind? C’set ne par possible. The tax required of the mining companies are not windfall tax, it’s about paying a good or fairly accessed tax due mother Ghana.
Furthermore, you were quoted as saying you gave in to the mining companies from paying the required tax. That is not leadership or un-Ghanaian in leadership style with respect to men like Kwame Nkrumah, Busia, Acheampong, and most recently, jerry J Rawlings. In all of those leaders mentioned above, when the situation mattered most in Ghana, they rose above the challenges to stir Ghana off wrong path. Nkrumah gave us independence without firing a shot at the British colonialist. Busia saved us from the menace of the aliens who invaded our country and took away basic trading skills from the indigenous Ghanaian entrepreneurs. Remember JJ single handedly absolving one million evacuees of Ghanaians deported from Nigeria in 1982. This is what made Ghanaians to overrule some of jerry’s mistakes and outburst. I do see him as a hero. I still like Jerry and have great respect for him. JJ saved Ghana, likeit or not. Given his modest savings of $50m, is okay for an African leader compared to you Mahama, allegedly owning multi millions and close to being a billionaire. Today Nigerians are here breaking our financial institutions, particularly GCB Gh Ltd, through crimes, money laundering, credit cards fraud and other unwholesome practices. What legacy are you leaving after your presidency? You are mostly likely to be a one term president. The writing is clearly on the wall for all to see. What measures are you and your banana republic regime taking to weed out those unwanted Nigerians from our country? In local parlance it’s called “friendship broke.” The Ibos and other Nigerians who have found safe haven in Ghana and have sought to do us in, you will have to lead and not lead from behind by deporting them and enforce the laws of Ghana as constituted in the 1992 Republic of Ghana constitution. You swore an oath to uphold and defend the constitution of Ghana, her sovereignty against internal and external enemies. These Nigerians are financial terrorists and must be dealt with like terrorists. Ghana is not an extension of Nigeria, nor does being a member of Ecowas degrade our independence. Now, the bigger picture is about the mining companies refusing to pay their fair share as you proclaimed at Davos in faraway Switzerland. Ghanaian youths need jobs, but that does not mean our sovereignty should take a back stage to foreign corporate interests and their exploitation. John Mahama, you are not leading at all and this is one of the reasons why you will be only one term president of NDC and Ghana. If you lack the skills and advice, consult the above names mention to lead your negotiation with the mining groups. It is not they paying a wind fall tax; it’s about paying their fair share from the booming gold sales to Ghana government. John Mahama, show some interest in Ghana and appreciate the good people of Ghana for giving you chance to lead the nation following the demise of Atta Mills. Do not discount the wisdom of your Vice, Kwesi Amissah Arthur. He was one of the pillars that worked day and night with Kwesi Bee to pull the breaks on poor Ghana from falling over the cliff. Talk to your former boss, Kojo Yankah, my good friend to help you with your communication messages. One person does not run a government. No one person also runs a good government by attracting only people of his tribal origins. It does not work and this is showing visibly in your regime. Change course and the save NDC a further embarrassment from these jokes you are becoming. Pin the mining companies down to do the right thing or lose gaining favorable status from the government. Act like a president if you do not like the job, just act like one, Mahama.
P/NDC under the able leadership of Jerry R John, negotiated and got good terms from the mining companies, VALCO, and VRA/ECG over utility tariffs, and many more like DFIFs without shouting at the top of his voice. There are plenty of pieces of advice to gain if you so wish. The Ahwois, the Akilapka Sawyers, the Kwesi Bees, Sam Jonahs’;additionally, the Akosas , Yamsons, the Kojo Yankahs and many more. Ask and you will get good pieces of advice from these renowned Ghanaians without a charge. Stop whistling to the grave yard.
In conclusion, the time is now or never to live a lasting legacy for your presidency even if NDC should go into opposition. We are definitely losing the message and you will push the party into opposition. The mining conglomerates have a choice; pay their fair share of the tax or risk Chicago style politics. It’s a new phenomenon in politics taught in Government, International Relations and Politics in most graduate schools today. A theory hyped by the Obama machine in politics. You shake down your enemies or so to speak “frienemies.” Be a Ghanaian leader of your time and not a lead from behind. Lest I forget, even Kutu Acheampong in his time united Ghanaians under the themes: ‘One Nation, One People with One Great destiny.” President Mahama, what is your vision for Ghana?
Government creates jobs by making the needed incentives and openings for the people through one stop centers for re-training of worker-bees who cannot progress further. Another avenue is to set up centers to form a joint public-private-partnership with donor countries to set up hands-on training vocational centers for masonry, carpentry and joinery, electricians, heavy duty machines like earth moving tractors, articulator trucks driver trainees; and fitting mechanics. This is how you create jobs for the numerous unemployed graduates of SHS, JHS, universities and colleges. If you lack directions, ask the Israelis, the German Embassy, USAID, Russia and the likes for help. Japan has offered to help, do not ask for just money, but such technical skills for the Ghanaian.
John Mahama the ball is in your court. I Igp AKA “Inspector General of e-Post.” If you do not read the Ghanaweb.com, you must read it now. This is where you see the real character of “Ghanaians” – our passion, anger , happiness. Yes be a true Ghanaian leader and not follower. Enough of the travels mr President, the country has too many problems that need attention. Stop the excessive travesl at the tax payer’s expense. Obama, Angela Merkeil, David Cameron do not travel the way you do at the back of the tax payer. You travel too much and we are seeing no results. Let the Veep do the travelling or the Ambassadors do the work. Enough is enough.
